Also I forgot to mention that my starting gift was healing wares
@vamsi krishna krishnaraj Never made one. I did do the iron king DLC in my SL1 NG+7 broken straight sword run
@vamsi krishna krishnaraj Well old knight greathammer does the most damage per hit but is also slow, really heavy which may interferes with your other equipment and breaks after only a few hits, so in general it's best to knock enemies to the ground. It's a circumstantial weapon. The homonculous mace, the bandit axe are better versions of the mace and hand axe, and of course the rapier is one of the best weapons in the game if you ask me. Get flynn's ring in the sunken king DLC for 50 extra AR and the vessel shield is one of the best stat boosting gear items. Peasant set, mad warrior mask, vessel shield, simpleton ring, flynn ring, RoB+1 is a great setup, which leaves one ring slot open depending on weapon, dex ring for rapier, or any ring you like when using bandit axe or homonculous mace.

I'm so thankful his channel has become so much more popular. He's not only HILARIOUS but the scripts he uses are very well thought out and entertaining. This man deserves everything, and I'm more than glad I found his channel. 💖
I know this is super late, but I saw in a limit breakers video that archers in DS2 actually read your controller inputs to know where you're going and shoot where you will be. You can actually counter archers this way by just jittering your movement left and right really quick.
Well I'll be. So that's how that works. Interesting.

This guide kept me sane the whole way through. A lot of the techniques didn't work as easily for me as brute forcing it but having a logical step by step was amazing. If I could like this 100 more times I would.
Random piece of trivia: While the Looking Glass Knight and Demon of Song are weaker to dark than to lightning, the latter damage type (lightning) is more effective in practice due to both bosses being in water (LGK is in rain and DoS is in a small pool), which decreases their lightning resistance by 150 points, making it deal more damage overall; just thought that was worth bringing up
Ngl I'm surprised that they took the rain into consideration.
Man, I have absolutely no desire to ever try any of these runs that you do as I find the base game plenty challenging enough haha, but I still just find it so damn fascinating to watch you go through these playthroughs man, they're masterfully done and really entertaining to watch despite me never wanting to do one myself, I can do it vicariously through your vids and I love it, keep up the great work!
Thanks man :)
another good tip on fire arrows, is that if you infuse your crossbow with fire you can blow things up without needing fire projectiles. Great guide as usual!
I wanted to personally thank you and let you know this has been my go-to video to listen to while I fall asleep for abt two years
LOL I thought you were about to say that it had been your go-to video while doing an SL1 run, but falling asleep would work too I suppose 😁
I’ve done SL1 runs in Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls 1 and 3, but never on Dark Souls 2. The lack of adaptability and no shield to make up for the lost of iFrames always intimidated me. But I think it’s time to change that, hopefully this video will be useful.
I would add, that buying the Traveling Merchent hat from Malencha early on helps with any farming you may have to do (such as the peasent set).
Good point 👍
Dude, I can’t tell you how much I love these videos! Incredible work. I honestly don’t know how you don’t have millions of subscribers! Keep it up!
Thanks bro :D
Found your channel from the Nier playthrough and just wanna say you deserve more subs man. Keep up the good work
Thanks man :)
3yrs late but i finally decided to attempt this run. Thank you for making s video with such clear instructions!
In my honest oppion your guides on Souls are the best, most thorough and easiest to follow and understand, and I've seen quite many from different guides. Those guides of yours are sharp, simple and excellent prepared.
They're a joy to watch.

Thank you so much :D
@@PressContinueYou're most welcome. Thank you very much for the guides!
One of the best souls content creators, you're in depth explanations go farther than anyone else I've seen

The one thing I always do first in my SL1 challenges on DS2 is getting down into the gutter and enter inside the first DLC. Inside Shulva's temple you can find enough material to upgrande a normal weapon to +10 and a special one to +5 ( I normally chose the puzzling sword, since it has really low stats requisites and it has a huge range with its R2).
Watching this for the 100th time as i do an SL1 run. You've got the best sl1 guides for Soulsborne games.
*Also, 'why don't you have a seat over there on that stool kind' was great. Lol. Your channel is so underrated.
Love these guides man! Also love that you’re like.. an adult adult ya know? Shows that you can still do what you love no matter where you are in life. Keep it up!!
thank you so much!! was feeling kinda lost about sl1 in this game before and now I'm surely gonna try this out after watching c:
Watching this while doing a DS3 SL1 run, and wow you make these look much easier than they are. Very impressive
Thank you very much for your help, you really gave me the chance to get through this game and enjoy it
Glad to be of service :)
Great video man I will 100% try this run at some point, looking forward to the sl1 ds2 dlc video if you decide to make one.
Thanks :) Don't know yet when or if I will. But good luck with getting through the main game!
Very late, but this has been my first challenge run of any of the souls games. I am about a third of the way through. Wish me luck.
Just beat the pursuer level 1 with your advice and man that trivializes the fight thank you
I’ve never been a big fan of long RUclips videos but man… your videos are both hilarious and fun to watch, Keep up the good work King.
I love playing these videos in the background while I'm doing something else
I did my first ever sl1 run of this game (or any souls game actually) without stat boosting gear or Gower's ring last year. I did the entire main game but I haven't beaten any dlcs besides sunken king yet, lost a bit of steam at some point. This guide and your broken straight sword series were HIGHLY influential on my strategy and execution, so thank you very much for these
wow, this is a really underrated channel, great work i think you deserve way more recognition.
Thank you :)

No idea how i got here since i wanted to play Elden Ring tonight but i'm hooked to your video. Cool and entertaining, subbed.
SLVL1 In demon's souls, Dark Souls 1 & 3: Tests your skill and knowledge.
SLVL1 in Dark Souls 2: Tests your patience.
Ds2 tests your patience in general, no matter how you play
I don't see why, you can run to pass all the areas except for the chasms of old. I just finished a run and took me barely over 10 hours including dlcs which is just like one hour and a half longer than a normal run for me. It's way harder than DS1 and DS3 SL1 together so of course it test your skill and knoledge.
I really appreciate your guides and I really hope you make a video covering the DLC's too!
Recently I finished all bosses in Ds3 SL1 Ng+7 thanks to your video.
I just came back to Ds2 after a few years break and I decided to start with a SL1 run and it was easier then I anticipated, I even went to get the vessel shield and ring of the embedded which was totally worth it. The Ivory king DLC was not easy to run through since I hadn't touched the game in years and struggled to remember the route.
Honestly the hardest part of this run was farming the Mad warrior mask! Farming it almost made me go crazy he dropped every armor piece + berserker blade before I got the mask.
Yeah the mad warrior mask farming section was pure frustration for me too. I hate farming in general. Heck I hate the whole random drop mechanic in basically any game.
Finally doing a true SL1 run on DS2, and this video is amazing! Just started a few hours ago and already got 2 weapons to +10 and full peasant gear. Thanks man.
Awesome :D Doing well so far then. Good luck with the rest of the run!
@@PressContinue is the Old Leo Ring worth using with the Rapier?
@@krazyhaze6007 Possibly, but I've never seen actually damage tests, so I don't know exactly how beneficial it would be.
@@PressContinue ok thanks. I'm on smelter demon right now, and he's not the hardest boss, but the enemies I have to fight each time I die, just to get back there are so annoying.
A tip for the gank room in Brume Tower you dealt with at ~ 1:46:00 is that all of the foot soldiers in Brume Tower are considered undead/hollow, thus you can distract them with an alluring skull. And the Golem that guards the lever attacks slow enough that you can bait it out and hit the lever without needing to kill it. Or you could kill it with the crossbow and just use the skull for everything else.
Just finished the run thanks for the guide, did ds1 using your guide earlier this year and now going to start ds3
I have Dione SL1 complete runs on DS3 and Elden Ring but following your guide for my DS2 run - great work really useful guide
Awesome and good luck with your run :)
Good strategy for fighting Forlorn is to bait the spinning two handed attack and parry it. If you two hand your mace and parry as soon as Forlorn turns to do the attack you'll successfully parry it. They're weak to blunt so your riposte will do massive damage. Then rinse and repeat
thank you ds2 was my last sl1 to complete you have guided through this while journey thank you very much
Congratulations :)
I actually watched the whole 3 hours of this... and I don't regret nothing
i love your content!! ive been falling asleep to this video p much every night for the last month or so, and i watch your newer content as soon as i can get a break to do so!!
Man I love your content! Keep it up! By the way, any luck with getting a PS5? I would love to see you cover Demon Souls Remake on PS5 even though I'm playing it myself.
No not yet and I have no idea when I'll be able to get one. But when I do, I will immediately start producing an SL1 Guide for the Demon Souls remake. Of course, then it would still take me a month or so to actually produce that video. But yeah, it all depends on when a PS5 becomes available to me.
Love your content plus commentary is instructive with some ‘blink and you’ll miss them’ jokes thrown in 💪
Ayee ds3 done ... seems its time for ds2
Great content!!
Damn too late dude i allready did this. Guess i still watch the video. Keep up the good work.
I have been binge watching your videos all week... Great content!
Just started watching all your videos about three weeks ago. Love the content! Great job!
Hello press continue love your content
I am in the middle of my first sl1 playthrough on ds2 follwing your guide. Loving the challange so far as well as the tutorial. I am planning to kill all bosses including the ones in the dlcs after i complete the base game. So i wanted to ask you if you could give me a quick list of the most essentiale items I should pick up specifically in the dlcs for the very late game (for example: rings, stat boosting gear, wepons posibly what to equip to weild them). Since you dont cover the dlcs here and the part 2 is out yet. The rest I will somehow figure out myself even thought its gonna be a challange. I get that this is an older video but i have seen you respond to newer coments here so hopefully you will see it. Hope this wasnt too much of an inconvenience. Thank you for all the effort you put in helping all of us out and creating awesome content for us to watch.
Main things you need are Flynn ring (+50AR boost), watch my latest DS2 butterfly video for a quick route towards that ring.
Secondly, the vessel shield, which is in a chest beyond the Aava bossfight.
Raw Homonculous mace (stronger version of the mace)
Or optionally the raw bandit axe from no man's wharf if you prefer an axe instead.
@@PressContinue Thank you so much
As always, some excellent gameplay with some very close calls.
However there is one thing I wanted to mention. Earlier this year (or maybe last year) there was a reddit thread I noticed with an... interesting Dark Souls 3 challenge.
The challenge itself is that outside the first three bosses (which must be Iudex Gundyr, Vordt, and Curse-Rotted Greatwood in that order) you must kill each boss with an infusion item of the previous boss (AKA you must kill the boss after Greatwood with an infusion item from Greatwood, and then the boss after with an item from the previous). Obviously respecs are allowed at any point in the run, but the challenge-creator did say that the use of the Infinite Respec glitch is prohibited.
The only other things are what to do with Vordt's Soul and what level to be. Personally I think Vordt's Soul should be a "get out of jail card" which you can use to get yourself out of a bad situation or save respecs. Level is arguable, obviously, but over-leveling can trivialize the challenge.
I was wondering your thoughts on this challenge. Not specifically asking for you to do it, just to give your thoughts and ideas for boss order. I think the early game is set in stone as Greatwood, Crystal Sage, Abyss Watchers, Deacons, then Wolnir. But the rest (ESPECIALLY THE DLC) IDK.
So you mean that you each boss has to be defeated with a bossweapon from the soul of the boss you defeated before that? Wow... that's an interesting challenge. I'm not sure. Stats are going to be a hassle but upgrading is even more of a problem. You're not going to have enough titanite scales to upgrade everything and once you can buy them, they costs way to much. So interesting, but quite a grind. Also halflight and gravetender don't drop a soul to begin with. Any% would make more sense I'd say. Also, Yohrm without stormruler is a pain in the dick, especially with a non or not fully upgraded weapon. Whichever one.
@@PressContinue Yes. Boss weapon or spell acquired from the boss soul. Also I believe the original creator mentioned that Halflight, Gravetender, and Stray Demon don't count, but all the rest do.
And I think their original intention was Any%, not DLC.
I think spells and respecs can counter the upgrade problems, but yes you would probably not be able to gather enough Scales without absurd grinding to handle upgrading the weapons, even with using spells as much as possible.
If anything I think the real issue would be Yhorm, as you said, and dealing with the stat requirements of certain boss weapons/spells. Also if the DLC is done, what bosses you "save" for the DLC content is arguably the biggest hurdle. As doing Demon Prince with Friede's Scythe is a stats nightmare and require an immediate respe, but doing it with Soul of Cinder's weapon would also be hell because AFAIK that weapon is fire damage. And you don't want to have to do Midir or Gael with Demon's Scar so you have to save Nameless King till later. Or stomach using Moonlight Greatsword on Friede to save a respec.
Also for NG I think this challenge would require an absurd amount of planning (and likely tial and error) so if anything I think it's more interesting as a NG+ challenge where you can level enough to equip the weapons without respecs, and hopefully upgrade enough weapons so your damage isn't bad.
@@Agenta-df3gb On the hand I think this is an interesting run, on the other hand I think it's going to be way too tedious to make it really worth it.
the AI does predict where you're going for certain (but not all) archers. It's a simple algorithm though. It will basically aim where you will be if you keep running in the same direction at the same speed.
Hmm... not sure about that. The way they fire looks so random. The arrow can even go in a different direction than the where they are visually aiming at.
It's never late for Dark Souls videos :))
im addicted to your channel
Don't get in any trouble over it :)
This video is so beautiful for so many reasons
"Hit boxes can be wonky at times" that's the understatement of the year
Yeah... utter horsesh!t would be the scientific terminology
@@PressContinue the amount of times I have died because the game clipped or glitched me into the enemy attack is ridiculous

You can do just fine in DS2 without a bow if you need a few ranged options.
Throwing knives are actually pretty damn good for both pulling enemies and as damage.
Thanks for this video!
Personally tried doing ds2 sl1 few months before but Aava was just too much (in terms of bs hitboxes)
Yeah... not to mention that you need to defeat him in order to acquire the vessel shield
Hey, this was released on my birthday! DS2 is even my 2nd favorite Dark Souls!
RUclips keeps putting this video on while I'm asleep is it telling me I need to get good?
The AI is in fact advanced enough to shoot arrows were you're going, but they simply input reads where your left stick is facing and shoot a bit towards that direction. It's actually pretty easy to abuse that and avoid getting hit by their arrows.
Archers and some other ranged attackers in DS2 do actually take into account your movement input when they fire. Plus, enemy arrows have tracking to slightly correct their trajectories.
Could you, or have you already done, an all bosses SL1 guide? I want to do an all bosses SL1 run, but tbh I don't really know they all are and I don't have the strategies for traversal through all the other areas that you didn't cover in this video 😅

@@PressContinue I recently got into Dark Souls 2 so I'm binging your playlist, love to see someone covering it in such depth as even most soulstubers (is that a word?) kinda gloss it over. It's an ssg/ballista joke near one of the ballistas in the game btw lol
Late but just to let you know this video has been very helpful.
Coming from Elden Ring/Dark Souls 3, Dark souls II had been nightmare. The stupid level design and enemy traps everywhere and janky controls
really made playing it, difficult.
Hope you are doing well. You sound old xD.
In summation this video is 3 hours of maidenless behavior
"The hitboxes are a little wonky" that's a very kind way of putting it
Yeah... but I'm a kind guy
I know this video isn't new any more, but I'll comment on the off chance that you notice it: There is a trick you can use to avoid having your character's face light up like a Christmas tree when making a dark skinned character in DS2. Pick the circle tattoo and expand it to cover your character's entire face, then set the color to your character's desired skin tone (or perhaps a bit darker to offset the brightness). Makes the character look way, way better.
I just tested that out. It does look a lot better than those weird bright cheeks. Thanks, wish I had known about that sooner.
I know its been three years but you can use alluring skulls on those ashen enemies and the rampart soldiers and the crawling ones too
You can also use the club in this play through it has an A scaling in strength, you can buy from malentia in forest of fallen giants
In the room with all the dogs just before the second pursuer encounter... I did not know about the barrel you could push down somehow...
I never knew that rain did that back in the other games. Always thought it was new in Elden ring.
My best tactic was to level up.
Good shit, you should try it out too
I did it ! took me 9 hours. will you be covering DLCs ? i know it's almost year since this video but well.
Congratulations but no probably not. It's only a few months until Elden Ring and I have other stuff planned before that.
At least for the Old Iron King DLC you can check out part 6 of my SL1 NG+7 broken straight sword run
What a fucking pro. Total Chad. Well done, sir, this was almost surgical. Beyond impressed
Thank you :)
So I just platted SOTFS the other day. By the time I was going through NG++, wielding two Curved Nil Greatswords and all, I was just having a blast. Heck, even before that, on NG+ which I did half with a sorcerer's twinblade and then the other half with a mix of dragonslayer spear and thorned greatsword..... it was a lot of fun
But my NG.... I made the mistake of thinking playing Pyro would be fun, and hey... I could fall back on Dark when I was going through areas where enemies were fire resistant.... Not only did that turn out to be like half the game, I'm just looking at the damage these Mace and Rapier are dishing out and I'm personally offended... My Fire Longsword and Dark Scimitar which were my main tools throughout... most of NG, really were just NOT up to par.
You are my favorite RUclipsr
Wow, thank you :)
I beat this game with only a mace and leveling up and I had a hard time can’t imagine this
I'm so fucking happy about the fact that I watched some of this video before actually playing the game and found out what the fuck is agility and ADP
It would be a complete nightmare for me without knowing about ADP shit
Sl1 is brutal
Maybe I'm just a newb
It is tough for sure, but it is very much doable.
for DS2, it very much a good challenge for new player
That underwear joke around 5:40 was the funniest shit i’ve heard all week
Fortunately you can change your appearance to a cool dragon form, you have to kill the wyvern 19 times but appearance is all that matters in this game.
@1:16:31 LMFAOOOOOO had me dying with the Sponge Bob scene 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The time it takes to start running again after full depletion isn't tied to the stamina bar, it's tied to another timer I have yet to figure out. You can spam rolls post-depletion and start running after a certain timer, and on occasion the timer takes longer to complete than your stamina bar if you do just let it regen fully.
EDIT: You can also get down to the salamander pit earlier by doing a jumping attack onto one, but it's MUCH riskier.
19:38 im just gonna start listing the tfs references here if i spot one.
Damn you hindsight! *bleh *dies
I might give this a try soon, your guides helped me complete SL1 runs on DS1 and DS3. Have you got any plans to do one for demon’s souls? I don’t have a ps5 but only started playing the original on ps3 this year and was thinking of doing an SL1 run
I will make an SL1 guide for Demon Souls as soon as I can get my hands on a PS5. Of course I have no idea when that will be, and even when I finally get one, making a giant monstrosity of a video like this will take at least a month to produce (this one took me 5 weeks). So, I'm affraid it's not going to be any time soon.
There was some reference I recognized in the subtitles at the top right, but forgetting that the video was 3 hours I decided to wait till the end to comment
Oh so you forgot what the reference was?
@@PressContinue I was so sure I saw one and forget exactly what it was or when I saw it. For all I know it might have been in the butterfly armor video. I haven't played any Dark Souls and years, but your guides make it look easy
