- Follow along as we completely refurbish this less then stellar cabinet into something worthy of any collection. I will use the tips and tricks that I have made separate videos on over the years into one long video. Applicable to any Bally, Stern, Gottlieb, Chicago coin, Data East or Williams game...
Thank you for sharing this info, and for the effort you put into these vids!!! I had NO idea that just acetone would strip that old lead based paint right off! I'm going to try this on my Williams system 6 cabinet restore.
Been watching your videos and my hind brain kept whispering 'too new' to me about the restoration. Which didn't make sense since that is what you were trying to achieve. Finally occurred to me that the white looks too white. I don't think that they had the ability to produce paint jobs that were that white. either because white was too expensive when u went that white or it was an ascetic choice in general. I think instead that they used a more yellowish white for large paint areas and saved the - white i will call - ultra white parts, for smaller areas or trim that they wanted to stand out. At lest this is according to my memory of long years hanging out at the arcades, lol.
Hey again, absolutely brilliant work.
Quick question, any reason for using acetone instead of sanding the paint out ?
Thanks !
No dust!
Look into getting Vampliers VT-001 to get the side rail nails out. Faster and most nails can be cleaned up and reused. I stuff a toothpick into the nail hole and tap the nails in most of the way and then vice grip c clamp pliers to fully seat the nails without damaging the rails.
i could see these working if the nail is above the siderail. Good suggestion!
Thanks
Thank you for this! What is the difference between the epoxy and white filler? How do you decide what to use?
Hi. The white drywall compound is for small pinholes and for smoothing only. its not meant for structural repairs. The resin is when you need something solid. it does not sand easily so take that into consideration. hope that helps!
what is the white filler you use? I've heard people using drywall compound, but that has water.
It’s drywall compound. Yes the grain raises but sand it down and your good to go
