Not only did he master the piano, he did something that no one else has done before or since, he brought the piano to the forefront of mainstream entertainment. No one else has done that. No one filled his shoes in the entertainment world after his passing.
Yes l agree but getting on to a personal. Thing l.he just did not need any of that plastic. Surgery. Later I'm his. Life he was very very handsome. Before he had it and it.half closed. His lovely. Big brown eyes l think it was a shame same goes for other nice stars they just did not need it.l know folk will not agree and perhaps tell me off for saying this sorry but.l think Lee. Was too trusting and others took too much money from him xxx
Well said l often listen to him he had healing powers in his music he used to go to a girls home who was in an iron lung his music used to take a lot of her pains away he also went to home of a presidents wife cannot remember which his music used to help her pains and countless others xx
Listen up, haters: Strip away the outrageous costumes, the candelabra, etc. and you still have a great performer and a brilliant musician. One of the best of his era!
Liberace had the ability to sound like no-one else. I have never heard arrangements as good as his from anyone else. He was fantastic, thank goodness we still have recordings of him.
I agree entirely. But what gets overlooked because of all the showmanship razzmatazz and lifestyle etc is were all his arrangements his own ?? and what about the fantastic orchestral accompaniment ? I watched a documentary about him once where it claimed his brother George was his music arranger, if so George must have been a fantastic musician in his own right. I wish someone would do a documentary about Liberaceys MUSIC.
you have no idea about music, if you think that arrpegios and tra la la is something special.... the notes and scales this man uses, are nothing more than exercises to improve playing... ... the boring ones, that make showmen seem like masters
Well, he was the highest paid entertainer in the world for over 20 years straight, so those "boring exercises" as you refer to them must have sounded like Heaven to his fans. He was the greatest showman of all time...no one will ever have his talent, humor, kindness or generosity of spirit ever again. He made this world better just by being in it.
I was blessed to have seen him in 1975 in Vegas. No doubt it was THE best show that I've ever seen and I've been to a lot of shows. And regardless of the circumstances of his passing his gift to the world should be remembered. Prayers to his wonderful soul. Love you still Mr. Liberace. 💕
Probably the best pianist of all time (definitely the most relaxed and comfortable one). I will never get over how maestro Liberace can just play difficult scores without straining. He is a wizard on the keyboard.
Love to watch his face during performance on the piano. It’s completely different than the social Liberace. He was a wonderful talent. Hope he knows how many love him still. God bless.
Some piano purists will say Liberace wasn’t as accomplished (in skill) as some of us think he was. That makes me angry. There is something about his playing that his true fans understand and those snobs do not. Liberace played with his heart and you can tell he loved music and he poured his heart into his playing. The man simply made love to the piano and that’s what makes some of us enjoy his music and adore him so much. He was one of a kind. There will never, ever be another Liberace.
My favorite pianist!!! His skill and ability are beyond compare. Those who say he wasn’t good are the ones who probably cant play anyways so there opinions really mean nothing except they have a knack for being a$$holes. If someone can play better then by all means do it. Don’t worry I’ll wait.
It's jealousy, plain and simple. Liberace was a master pianist, a classically trained concert pianist who became a commercial success. He made classical music accessible to the masses. To the snobby purists and musician wannabes, that's taboo. He doesn't reach their fantasy world standard of musicianship because they like to hate just for the sake of hating. It's B.S. snobbery of the highest degree. They claim they know music and everyone else doesn't. Real musicians have always respected Liberace. His technique was flawless and second to none. He was a master at his craft.
I agree and anyone who says he wasn’t accomplished is talking out their ear. I’ve been playing the piano for 43 years and was classically trained and I can tell you that Lee had great skill and talent. Find his video of Tea for Two or the Gershwin medley on Jerry Lewis’ telethon. Sheer brilliance. He was an amazing entertainer and there’s room in the world for this kind of entertainment just as much as for more “serious” music. Lovely story of when Horowitz made his return to Carnegie Hall and there were people queueing round the block for tickets and the doorman said something like “you mean this guy is as big as Liberace?”
Do people realize what a brilliant arranger of popular songs he was? He could play Chopin as well as Chopin, yet executed his own arrangements like this. A true artist talent of all time!
Great showmanship with such style and finess. There will never be another. It's a now and never. A God sent treasure, never to repeat. God bless. Woñgkumsek Singapore.
So beautifully played by a man who made us happy when he was on the stage and playing his piano without music and sounding amazing. I miss one of the great entertainers of our time and I was there to see him do it his way. RIP Liberace there will never be another. Thankyou. 😢
A trained concert pianst who morfed into one of the most entertainig performers of all time, Talken that can't be put into words. God bless you Lee for a ll the joy you brought to the world.
My father introduced me to liberace and I was very impressed by his piano playing never seen or heard anyone better, plus he had a great way with his audience and knew how to treat people making them happy and entertained
He was a highly trained classical pianist. His debut was in 1940 Chicago Symphony orchestra. He soon learned that classical pianists do not earn a lot. Thus he became Mr. Showmanship. He plays everything without music in front of him...he was fantastic....
Great as usual he looks great not a bit like that bastard Michael Douglas portayed him in that 70 per cent untrue film behind the candleabra the film behind the music starring nice Victor harbor is the true story of liberaces.lufe and it tells.of how he wanted to.marry Joanne del Rio and start a family that was really true
@@ASzkrab Well perhaps I could provide an answer. Douglas, like so many others has played parts in films that he should be ashamed of. He is one of many who is slowly and deliberately persuading us that violence is " cool " and evil and nastiness is somehow good. Should I ever meet Douglas I would be tempted to punch him in the face and then ask if he liked being on the receiving end of violence.
I have a retired port authority police officer in Seattle, WA who had to meet celebrities when their planes landed in Seattle to be sure they were escorted to their next plane safe and sound. He is quite straight to say it mildly. Of all the celebrities he dealt with he always tells the story that Lee was the nicest by far!
These days there are no real entertainers, not like Liberace. People liked Liberace for who he was, his ability to entertain and mastering of the piano. Fun, sentimental, upbeat, classical he catered for all. Today we have the bottom of the barrel for entertainment!
What an entertainer. His private life was exactly that private. He brought me happiness with his music and I loved seeing him perform. No music, absolutely magnificent. Liberace I applaud you and I will always watch you play.
Definitely a Masterpiece. This is much better than Frank Sinatra´s performance, and all the other great singers. Why ? The TIMING is perfect. It is is GREAT piece of art to play as this guy does. Beethoven would have been stunned by the masterpiece performance given us here.
Liberace was a favorite of Johnny Carson. So many great years of fine entertainment. Johnny and Lee, two great showmen of another era. Wished they were here.
Wow! When I was a boy in the 1960's, growing up in the San Francisco bay area, I loved to see him on TV. Sad thing was grown ups snickered about him. When I found out why I was ashamed of grown ups.
He is beyond the musician .... he is what is called a "virtuoso" in the true sense of the term ... he feels the music deep within him and transmits it to us through his talent and that for each piece of music he plays .... it's art
A true master artist can make something that it painfully difficult look incredibly easy when they do it. Mr Librace does this with every touch of a finger.
I go to the market to pick up two or three things, I have to have a list or I WILL forget something. Ever see Liberace use sheet music, how can a man remember so much music, simply a beautiful human being.
He was the BEST of the BEST to me. Loved him. Such a wonderful gentleman. I could listen him all night. I am like another one said, wish he was still here. Never ever be another to top him.
Anyone with a gift of bringing music so alive for so many is THE authority in my opinion. My views on Mr Liberace have never ever wavered! He was the Mr Showmanship who owned it the title & every audience he ever played to. 💐💖 I'm just thankful we had him in life and youngsters can pick him up on electronic media with such ease! 👏👏👏👏 Always in memory. And of course I'll be seeing you!

Wow! His interpretation of this old classic is fantastic beyond words! When he died, the world lost a great music talent!
Every musician has their own style. Liberace had more style than others

No one like Liberace! Lovely!!!
I have lived in San Francisco for 50 years and get all misty eyed when Leverace plays this song on the piano.
I love Liberace. I wish he had used his beautiful voice to sing these wonderful songs too. ♥️♥️
I remember him when I was a child. Beautiful.
