As always, thank you for doing these tutorials for the GT-1! Very much appreciated and very helpful. Can I pick your brain for a moment with a few questions? Are you using the GT-1 at your gigs? And if so, I would be curious to know how you have it set up. For example, how many different patches do you have setup? Do you have a clean patch and then use the CTL1 to add a chorus? Do you use the next bank for a dirty patch and then use the CTL1 for a lead sound? And lastly, if you are using the GT-1 at to play live at gigs, are you running direct to the PA or playing through an amp?
Hey there, Chris P 😊 I hope you're doing well, and all is good! Thank you, for the kind words, they are very much appreciated! I'm pleased to see my videos reflect the way they do! Sure, you're always welcome to ask question or pick my brain, hehe 😜 Yes, I always use my GT-1 at live gigs, and rehearsals as well. I run the GT-1 in Stereo, to my band's PA/Mixer, using a stage monitor/wedge, when playing live - it works great, and the sound quality is superb! My setup is quite simple: Guitar 1 --> Radial BigShot I/O Instrument Switcher --> PolyTune 2 --> Boss OD-3 --> Boss GT-1 --> Radial ProD2 Stereo DI Box. Guitar 2 Well, I use quite a lot of different patches, since my band is a Partyband, and we play all greatest hits from the last 4 decades. I probably could have it all within a handful of patches, but I like the versatility of having a dedicated patch for each song/artist. For example, for a whole set I could easily have 15 patches, if not more, depending on the event and venue. Most of my patches are full off Assigns, turning ON/OFF a variety of different effects and parameters - based on the set and songs we play. Most of my patches use both clean, overdriven and lead parts, so the Assigns take care of that, so I can have all that, within ONE patch, for that, or those, particular songs. That makes it easier for me, knowing that I just have to step on CTL1, CTL2 and/or CTL3. As mentioned above, I mostly run straight to the PA/Mixer. If that's not an option, then I will use an amp with an Effects Loop, and then use the amp's FX Loop Return to connect the GT-1 to, allowing me to still use its onboard preamps/cabinets. I hope all of this makes sense - but please ask further questions, I'm all up for it! It's great being able to share these things, especially with people who are interested! Cheers, man! 🍺
@@GuitarNTabs Very much appreciated my friend! So to confirm, your're running 2 standard guitar cables from the GT-1 to the PA/Mixer in stereo? I will be running my GT-1 through the PA for the first time at a gig this weekend. For the last 2 years I have run it through the front of my marshall amp (sounds ok, but I'm hearing the GT-1 works best when run through the PA). I have not had a chance to set my patches yet, but do you have any recommendations when running through the PA? Do you recommend plugging the GT-1 into the monitor, and then running the monitor to the PA - or would you suggest running the 2 guitar cables from the GT-1 to the PA, and running the monitor separate into the PA?
@@drexel11041 - Hey! Thanks for the reply, it's appreciated! 😊 Yes, I run two standard guitar cables from the GT-1's left and right outputs. From there I run the two guitar cables into my Stereo DI Box (Radial ProD2) which then runs to the sound-box or mixer/PA - depending on how far away the PA is. I use a DI Box because I never know how far away the Mixer/PA will be, and with standard guitar cables I'll risk loosing a bit of signal, since those standard cables aren't balanced. That's where the DI comes in, it takes the unbalanced signal from the GT-1's left and right outputs, and converts it to a balanced one (XLR-jacks) on the DI Box. That sounds nice - I'm sure it'll be a great gig! 🎸 Running the GT-1 through the front of an amplifier can be great, all depending on the amp in front.. I've done so, and I was happy about it. I just think the GT-1's better suited for use with the PA. The GT-1 should be plugged into the Mixer, since the Mixer and PA is basically one unit. The Mixer connects all instruments, vocals, drums, etc. and sends the output/signal to the PA (Speakers/Monitors). So you would take the output(s) from the GT-1 and connect them to the channel(s) on the mixer. Then you probably have a stage monitor for your own monitoring. I hope this makes sense - if not, then please let me know. Best regards & Cheers.
@@GuitarNTabs Thank you! I only have 1 DI box and will only being running 1 cable from the GT-1 to the mixer. Do you think this will suffice? I appreciate your help!
@@GuitarNTabs Just wanted to give you a quick update. At my gig yesterday I used the GT1 direct to the PA using only a monitor in front of me. I noticed a HUGE difference as it sounded amazing. Thank you for your assistance as your videos are the best tutorials for the GT1 on RUclips!
I have a question about the Patch configuration. Is it possible to assign a patch to one of the buttons, let's say: is it possible to assign patch P03 to the "Down" button, and patch P49 to the "up" button, to change between a clean sound and overdrive sound? or is it possible to assign these patches to an external footswitch? I would appreciate a lot your help with this matter :) btw, excellent videos i have learned a lot from them.
Hi there. No, patches can't be assigned to footswitches - only effects and parameters. If you want those two patches to be beside each other, then save them next to each other. I have another video, here on my Channel, How to go from Clean to Distortion - and that lets you use the Assigns, so you can have a clean sound AND an overdriven sound, all in ONE patch - it's simple. Check that video out. Thanks, I'm happy to hear that! Let me know if there's more I can do. All the best.
Thanks for the great videos I just got a GT-1B - is it possible to use CTL1 to simultaneously turn on an octaver and t-wah effect simultaneously? I want to use it as a stomp box turning on at least two different effects at the same time - thanks for any info

Hi there, Wiktor. Thanks for your comment and question, I greatly appreciate it. No, you can only have one effect in FX1 and FX2, but as I showed in this video, you can set up assigns so you can easily switch between the different effect options, within FX1 and FX2. For example, if you need the Compressor for one part of a song/patch, then later the Phaser, etc. then you're able to switch from one to another. You can only use one effect from FX1 and FX2 at the same time, but to be honest, I haven't seen that as a problem, because, why would you need all those different effects? Often too many effects will ruin or kill a good sounding patch... Sometimes less really is more. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers.
