This video became even more relevant to me this morning as I hit on the SF pair on SNKRS app. Can't believe it. Thank you for the tutorial and tips. From my experience doing a small panel trim on my Parra Dunks, a pair of nail cuticle scissors are great for the fibrous leftovers of the felt panel. They are micro sized and sharp when brand new. Do not put a lighter near those shoes! You can find cuticle scissors either normal or with curved blades at your local drug store and Walmart.
yeah I think thats what Don used when we did the Hawaii dunk high.
im going to burn the shoes. I am going to do it! haha
I thought these were not going to hit the SNKRS app.
these were sick already, but that nod to the original just makes these even better.
For sure!
This was so fun to do. The thick layer of the leathers and materials made me 💩 my pants every cut. Lol😅
Dude! For sure. It’s a scary process
I did my pair yesterday, couldn't get my cuts that good but still came out well. Took me about 45 minutes a panel so I definitely took my time. I definitely popped some stitches but nothing crazy.
wow!! so like 3 hours to do the whole thing?
at least no real damage.
@@DavidBluetile yes, I custom paint sneakers but 1st time using a blade. I didn't want to cut through the tie dye. After the 1st panel I did, I used more pressure but still had a lot of scraps to clean up. I used a brand new blade from Angelus also. I have the NYC pair too so it was a good learning experience before i go all shoe surgeon on them. I just finished the SF last night will tag you guys on IG let me know what you think. Thanks for your videos and all you do for the skate community.
this video helped me so much. good tips throughout. my panels are looking flawless and ive got a stack of intact leather and felt pieces now 😂
Awesome!! Glad we could help.
I did it to my NYC pair, it had to be done cuz I’m not a fan of how plain it is. Need my pairs to be out there. Can’t wait to get my SF pair in to do the same
I still dont know what to do! haha I dont think ill cut.
@@DavidBluetile you’ll come around to it eventually haha. I just don’t want people looking at me thinking “Those are nice pandas” cuz I hate pandas
@@Dantega415 haha thats what everyone keeps saying. we actually talked about all that in this video but I cut it for time.
Video of the month for sure. What a great tutorial , full of solid information and technique on how to cut these. Still don't know if I'm going to cut mine ( STILL NERVOUS) . I do have 1 question , how do they fit after cutting that panel off.?
Good question! Nothing on the inside changes, so the fit is the same. They will be more breathable for sure. I have only one panel on each shoe cut, I can feel the cold throught the canvas on the sides that are cut. Aside from that, its business as usual!
yeah but now you walk in circle because your shoes are uneven.
Finally cut mine and I got them off in one piece too 🙌🏾 debating doing the same to my NY pair
Did my first cut on my Paisley dunks quit scary haha. The Huf dunks really get a new look to them but prefer the uncut version a bit more
I cut the inside on the right shoe and the outside on the left. So from the right it looks uncut, and from the left you see the tiedye! I think I'm going to leave them like that!
Might steal this idea bud I don’t wanna do the all of the shoe
Thank you for explaining process ! I score a pai on the drop . I have no idea what size
100% thanks for commenting
I banged it out in one cut with both the leather and the felt at the same time. While using a square razor blade, as you would to cut your grip. Shit was slightly nerve racking but we got it done 🤘
Nice! You a wild boy! But it's seems more fitting to cut it like it was grip!
Dumb question - is the tie dye on both sides or just the outside?
Both sides. We show an inside and outside of the shoe exposed in this video
Mane these are dope. Love the video ! Look alot better without the panels
I still cant cut mine so im glad Charlie did haha
Great tutorial, picked them up from Uprise in Chicago and was hoping to get those SF ones but got the NY ones…still amazing but great tutorial for when I do mine! Love!
the New York is going to be worth more in the long run I think. there are way fewer NY dunks in the market.
I got the SF pair from Uprise.
I saw a few other videos of people removing the side panels on their hufs, but they didn’t have that 2nd cloth layer under the leather. Are those fakes or different.
Has the Raygun look
Love your dunk videos, glad I could come to you to find out how to get the panels off. I need that tie dye out
heck yeah. thanks!
Does the black scuff away to a different color ? It looks like it might be colored underneath or is that just how they made it look
yes it does scuff down to leather brown. like a dress shoe would.
Sick shoe. At first I thought there were a total of 4 pairs. Ones with tie dye and ones without. Never realized you had to cut the shoe for the tie dye lol! Nice vid! Copping a pair forsure
Oh yeah! I like it when they do new things to shoes
Are you able to take the pins out
I’m sure you could but it probably wouldn’t be pretty
Great video Dave. First one of its kind I’ve come across. Easy to follow tutorial! If I hit on a pair I might consider doing this too following your video as guidance. Good job bud. Great guy n great channel 🙌
thanks so much man. Yeah I had a hard time figuring out how to get people to come to this video because there isn't a search for "how to cut up your brand new shoes" haha
@@DavidBluetile you did good 😉
I want these so bad 😫 dope video 🔥
Shouts to Charlie aka BIG SHOE! Hope everyone take notes because this is a guide for a successful cut. I cut my pair in BlueTile with stress & nervous energy the entire time. Even FaceTimed the homie Cruz for snkr hd moral support & gave up twice 😂😂! Even handed my pair to Dave once😅‼️ All in all it took me about 50mins because i was cutting through both layers all at once! Another successful camp & purchase! “EVERYBODY’S HAPPY EVERYBODY’S KOOL”😂‼️
I had that in the video where I talked about you and cruz but it was too dang long. I have a short community edit dropping tomorrow.
The true essence of that Campout could never be captured on film! People will have to come out & experience in person…
Does anyone happen to know if the black panel on the toe skates to orange? My pair had a very small defect with a tiny patch of orange in the area
It’s not orange it’s natural leather. Look at the raw edge of the toe panel. It should just look like leathery warm brown color.
Word, thanks for your time!!
The slow on the felt is key. I cut the canvas in one score spot and it’s driving me nuts lol
Oh man! I would probably lose sleep and beat myself up if I cut the canvas! Arg!! Hopefully it’s not bad
im trying to find out if there are two cut away panels on each shoe or is it just one? iv got a pair i just want to cut them right
in this video we cut the inside panel on one shoe prior to shooting and the outside panel on the other shoe on video. so both inside and out have tie dye underneath. hope that helps!
@David Bluetile thanks David, love your videos and have done for a while. very kind of you to reply so quick. time to start cutting mine up. all the best from the UK ✌🏻
@@robertillingworth4276 Absolutely man! thanks for watching. always let me know if there are things I missed or things I could improve. im working on it! haha
is it only the side panel that has the tie dye or does the whole shoe has it?
Just the side panels
Huf are fire
huf always fire!
Quality content deadass
Man thank you so much
So if we opt not to do this do you think it'll eventually peel away?
Not a chance
@David Bluetile 😆 thank you so I gotta get my cutting skills up.
haha fur sure.
The army green top do you sell it at your store?
aww dang. I wish we could. I got a few of these blanks for myself but theyre not cheap. id have to sell them for between 100-140 to make it worth it.
do the NY pair
oh noooooo!!! haha lemme see if I can find someone who wants to do it. I dont want to cut mine
I don't get the point of them adding this if it won't naturally peel away from skating...
I think its a nice homage to Huf. Those who truly loved Huf or the original shoe, will make the cut to shoe the underlayer. Nike loves the "something-under-something" design features. Wear away paint, tear away cloth, and now cut away leather. It's just Nike pushing the boundaries. I think its cool.
I wish the leather panels on the side were Velcro that way you could switch it up and it would be easier for us folks that don’t do well with sharp objects 😅
haha "dont do well with sharp objects"
Did this myself, was pretty gnarly cutting $150 shoe i havent even worn
oh 100%
Dude Charlie looks crazy similar to Shia Lebouf
I wonder if he has gotten that before?
Nearly had a heart attack when all I saw was the felt layer under the leather there were no deconstruct vids up yet just threw caution to the wind and it turned out to be worthwhile lol
Same! I was really freaking out too!
Nice ☺️
Did y’all ever find out what the 3rd color way is for these dunks?
Yeah it’s the grey friends and family. Only available to friends and family.
This was fun! I love this shoe!
such a good video !
🥰
Everyone cuts the whole panel off, looking to find different cuts/designs.
I dont really know if there is enough room to cut designs in there. the leather is pretty thick... you'd need a laser cutter.
I just don't understand why wouldn't they come with the tie dye fresh out of the box.
To make something exciting and interesting.
i got extremely lucky and managed to get 3 pairs from raffles near by (annoyingly tho one of the shops i hit at didn't have an 11 when they called me to let me know i won the raffle, so they let me have a 10.5 so i ended up with 2 10.5s and an 11 on the way and now I will only stick to my 11s in SBs regardless of cut/model because the other recent releases with the OG shape fit big on me but these didnt for some reason)
luckily the 2 I got from my locals here in LA ended up being both colors and now I wait for the 3rd one to come in and then cut up that one just so I feel more safe in the event I mess up whichever one i get the same color of
And then I need to find the remaining one in an 11 preferably by way of trading up to getting it
Yeah I told people not to size down in these. They’re snug for an OG
@@DavidBluetile yeah true that. still really confused as to why those 2 OG shaped releases ('21 supreme lows and Medicom 6s) still fit big on me. got 11 in both of em and they fit like 11.5/12
maybe after the Supremes they fixed the lasts they use for em?
@@DavidBluetile also i started cutting up both my NY and SF. I think the NY is built different (unless I just so happen to get a pair with no felt), there is no layer of felt and spray tack under the midfoot, my SFs had it but the NY was just straight leather
Awesome
thanks!
Cutting is a must... why is no one addressing whether there's tie-dye on the interior panel?? Inquiring minds want to know! 😆
One of them shown in this video is an interior panel. Charlie left one outside and one inside uncut.
Yeah they are definitely tiedye all the way around. I did one of each so from oneside it's cut and the other, it's as they came. I like it!
Rub acetone on the leather !!!
But I don’t wanna!! Actually they do look sick that way
Why did they make it this hard. I’m never messing with mind. I know I’ll mess up.
I think because it gives the shoe this whole different life down the line. Like if you have em uncut versus cut… years from now. It’s just a vibe that makes it fun. Something to be discovered once it’s all forgotten about
I thought the same cutting into my shoe😅😂
Sounds like y’all need to start getting more 13s if possible 😢
Sizes are allocated to us. We don’t get to order sizes.
@@DavidBluetile We know you’d look out for us if you could! 💙🟦 just salty I couldn’t make it lol
@@sbaes_5117 I mean we got a decent amount of 13s just not as many as the “meat” sizes.
Can you cut mine for me? 😅 lol I'm scared I'll mess them up if I try to cut them myself
I bet Charlie would. I mean I could too I reckon
Charlie!!!!!
its him!
Tory pudwill cutting dunks lol
Punkass Nike has me knifing my shoes tryna see this damn pattern. Why not release them ready to go?
So many reasons. I love it. I prefer em as is. Buuuuuut later I might wanna freshen up 🤷🏻♂️
Lol @ 1:12
Haha cuts like a knife!!
that's not a PRO. its just aa dunk low og qs. OG because it's the regular dunk silhouette and QS because it's a Quickstrike (limited).
also, I got the last size 8 at my shop and the homie behind me had to cop a 7.5
Yes you are right. Did I say pro? Hha damn it. I do know what all the initials stand for. Appreciate it though. I have one of the oldest sb accounts in the country… I probably did say pro though. Damn it. Lol

SF > NYC!
NYC is more rare so may go up in value more than the SF
@@DavidBluetile haha I don’t mind I’m not in it for the resell hehe. I’ll end up wearing them anyways
@@clintorous same.... but... there is an argument for NYC > SF. haha
