I was listening to the video last night. Crazy! The woman was saying the Lyft driver sounded like she was from a Middle Eastern country, and she was on the phone talking to someone in a different language. Shit like this is so scary!
No one cares about using a taxi, why? Its marked? Uber has the driver's profile with pictures and car included. There's rules Uber drivers must follow too: can't use a different car, can't have anyone else in the car.*
Before Ubers, there were taxis. The only difference is that now more of us take these private cars. Personally I would never let a child take one by themself nor would I let someone incapacitated take one by themself. It's an inconvenience but we should be riding with them and accompany them home. When did we stop having common sense? TBF regarding taxis, my mom never let me ride them either until I was an older teenager. Only in emergencies or if I got stranded somewhere and no one could come get me. So basically I only ever took a taxi twice as a teenager. Even as an adult, I only took taxis to the airport if there wasn't public transportation. But now we're just all so used to these gosh darn in demand services and apps that it's been normalized. I only take Ubers late at night because it's safer than taking the subway or bus in NYC. And if it's late at night, I always send the link to my sister so she can follow along until I tell her I made it home. And day or night, I always have my app open so I can follow and see if the driver is taking a completely different route. Sometimes they simply make a wrong turn or chose a different route due to traffic, and I like that the app will sometimes alert me and ask if I need help. Not sure if the child got the same safety alert notification. Honestly I like that with Uber I can follow along on the app and use their alert system to indicate something is wrong and allow family members to follow me. With a traditional taxi I can't do any of that. And taxi drivers can be just as creepy as Uber drivers. I will never let my child fly unaccompanied or take a car unaccompanied. Too many sickos!
I'm not knocking what she did as long as the car was stopped when she got out. But she had a phone, she should've called the police when she thought she was in trouble.
@@Adam-mj5hl Uber allows the drivers to ask for ID to verify age and they are to TURN DOWN the fare if the person is an unaccompanied minor. There is also a “Teen account” which puts into place additional safety measures. Parents should sign their kids up for this if they’ll be taking Uber alone. Had this been the case, this teenager would not have had to jump out of the car since one of the teen account functions is to alert if a driver goes off course.
Me too. Was under age and got a ride from someone who told me he was an older brother of someone I did know, but half way thru the drive, he started taking me back to the railroad tracks. He pulled out money while still driving and offered it. I returned by pulling a knife, demanding he pull over and let me out. He took the knife from me and turned it towards me, all while still driving. I didn't wait for the car to stop, but during a slower turn, I jumped and rolled out. Yes, ran in the opposite direction as far and fast as I could and he couldn't follow.

It’s weird how were taught to not talk or get in a car with a stranger, and then we get UBER. I’m proud this young lady got away alive.
My sister sent me a similar story yesterday that's on TikTok. Apparently, this woman caught a Lyft, the Lyft driver was a woman, and the woman tried to kidnap her. I was listening to the video last night. Crazy! The woman was saying the Lyft driver sounded like she was from a Middle Eastern country, and she was on the phone talking to someone in a different language. Shit like this is so scary!
Because common sense isn't common anymore
It ALWAYS creeps me out when I have to get in a strangers car

Sometimes parents w their work schedules and/or transportation constraints (no car) have very little choice. They probably felt she would be safer in a direct car ride vs on the city bus.
I agree. When I was 14 years old I had never been in a taxi or taken a bus. My family shielded me.
You can be SA on a bus or walking you can be kidnapped. They have uber teen where you can monitor your child travels. The world is not safe regardless. Teach your children to be safe.
@aileenbuxa7618 💯💯
This happened to my daughter. She told the driver to stop he kept going. She had a taser and he stopped.
Why are you putting your child in Uber? Smh
@@MutedMinimalistMaybe their daughter is an adult woman. You can't judge someone based on one comment. The fact is, danger exists and you need to prepared for it. You can't go victim blaming.
Why is a 14 year old ride Uber without an adult’s supervision?
Key word she said. Stepfather.
I'm so proud of her.❤. This child is wise beyond her years. They should be able to find him. Uber needs to be accountable.
Smart girl!! When I was 15, I read a book about FEAR and how it can save your life. That was in 1975 and I no longer remember the title, but I saved the book and all 3 of my daughters read it in the 80-90's. She did exactly what the author said to do: She paid attention, listened to her gut and escaped at the first opportunity! Well done!
Why was she even allowed to ride by herself without an adult
Maybe her parents were at work or stuck in traffic and she needed to get home from school?
@@Ale-yl4wd Exactly! Plus she was 14.
You teach your children never to get in a strangers car but allow them to get in ubers without an adult. Doesn't matter the situation, I would never allow my young child to get in an uber without me! Period.
@@Ale-yl4wd doesn't matter. The rider HAS TO be over 18 to ride alone
@@starburstthecat7625no they don’t….they literally have Uber for kids/teens now where the parent can watch the trip on the app the entire time
Come on parents, protect your children. 14 yr olds should never be ordering Ubers
But a five year old can be put on an airplane unattended and flown across the country? Get wrecked.
@@SGarrett1979I wouldn't do that either.
@@SGarrett1979 Yea sis none of that should be happening
@@SGarrett1979I agree with the other posters, I wouldn't do either, but at least a minor on a plane is watched carefully and eacorted onto and off of the flight (my parents sent me to LA when I was 12 so I know personally), your guardian drops you off at the gate and the adult recieving you will be waiting at the other gate. There are cameras and security, and ID must be scanned to get past security. In an Uber, you are getting in a car with a stranger, without cameras or security guards, where they can simply flip the child lock on and drive away to anywhere. These aren't identical scenarios, though I wouldn't do either.
@@SGarrett1979an airplane full of witnesses, an industry with strict background checking, there's no comparison
Bless her precious self!
Gratefully she was in touch with her instinct and kept her head. Good job for her 🎉
Why is a 14 year old ordering an Uber to ride in without an adult?!
You did amazing sweetie.
They need to file formal complaint and charges
The fact that the police haven't got this guy is disgusting
What parent puts their child in a car alone in this day and age????
Right! 40-50 years ago there was about a 99 percent chance that that would have been safe, but not these days!!
Oh, give it a rest. She and her mom learned a lesson that day.
@@bonniemoerdyk9809don’t agree..it’s always been a risk…
Never been in a cab?
@@518hs Some parents don't care to learn
Smart lil girl 🎉
Mum should press charges against the driver for kidnap.
And someone should charge the mom for being reckless. Why is a kid taking an Uber by themselves????
Why was her daughter in a car with a stranger by herself. She should press charges but she should also take accountability for her own inaction.
Mum should press charges?? You are kidding right?? UBER NEEDS TO STEP UP!!!!!!!!
The mom should be charged too!! 😡😡😡 No 14 yr old has business ordering Ubers.
She's Smart and Amazing! Thank God 🙏 she's Ok!❤
Thank God, She is a smart and brave girl❤
omg *SO* glad this precious baby is okay. what a smart girl! i’m also really glad that creep didn’t have the child locks on to prevent her from escaping. if you’re going to allow your teen to take an uber by themselves, it’s imperative that they facetime with you for the duration of the ride.
And record the face of the driver. Most are decent people, I'm sure, but there's always 1 bad one. Human is as human does.
She probably overreacted when the non-English speaking driver was following GPS rerouting due to traffic.
Y are u letting a 14 year old take an Uber alone to begin with.
You accompany your 14 year old in an uber.
PERIOD.
Now they have the app where minors can order an Uber with no adult accompanying them smh
@@rachelmm05
Absolutely insane 😡
@@rachelmm05 I'm so glad my dad taught me street smarts growing up. And as an adult, I'll be teaching the same to my kids. Adults these days are dense - sending their children out to the wolves.
@@tryphenarose384Are you saying this kid's parents are dense? "Street smarts" is exactly what this kid's parents instilled. "Street smarts" isn't avoiding the street, it's the ability to navigate the street.
She wasn't on her phone and she was actively paying attention, caught that he was going the wrong way, she addressed it four times with the driver, she was certain she had to act and developed a plan, which she executed successfully with decisive action.
She's likely equipped with more street smarts than the vast majority of her peers, whose parents likely never bothered to teach their kids how to navigate a situation they would never allow to happen in the first place.
The world is not full of wolves, it's full of oblivious people whose parents never taught them how to navigate the world.
He will keep on doing it! Good for you honey for being so brave!❤❤
Boy if only she had taken a picture of him before jumping out
She was careful to get out fast.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂Are you for real.
Uber has to have all the drivers information and of the car as they set it all up. They covering this up. Terrible!!
There is also an emergency button in the Uber app if you feel unsafe! Glad she was taught well ❤️🙏🏾
No need to..it's all in the app
A 14-year-old using Uber? That's the problem.
PARENTS PARENTS PARENTS DO NOT SEND OUT YOUR CHILDREN ALONE
Never!
She had more sense than I did in a similar situation. So glad she is safe.
I had a similar Uber experience. He was going the wrong way. He said he had to follow the direction they gave him. (Not true.) He took me to a field commenting there is no Public Storage here and I said I told you were going the wrong way. He left there and drove back a different way. When I noticed he was going to be close to my destination I told him. He passed where I wanted to be and refused to stop and let me out. I was in tears. Smart girl.
Thank God this child is safe
Good girl. She literally saved herself. Parents should never let their children be with strangers like this.
Speculation. She probably endangered herself by getting out of a moving car in traffic just because she overreacted to a route change due to traffic!!!
Thank God she’s okay…❤
Always share your route with someone! They can watch the entire trip.
I tell my nieces and nephews to get off their phones and watch where they were going!! You did right young lady!!
Wrong! The EXACT OPPOSITE!!! Put in your destination and you might see that there was an accident that required rerouting!!!
A 14 year like should not be ordering an Uber. Period!
Supposed to be 18 or older
I know the feeling. I jumped out a taxi in South Korea when the driver drove me in a direction away from my intended location. PTSD symptoms overwhelmed me along with anxiety 😕
So glad she took action! Honestly, as a kid I may've been to scared to say anything b4 I saw clear and present danger. Just gotta keep teaching our children & assure rhem they are loved, strong & amazing!
