Had to watch a video about her drawings for a college art discussion assignment. I am so glad I did. I love that she uses stencils. Her work makes me feel inspired.

It's important to stay on one path. So many Art students want to jump into Every Medium. They waste years. It's like not knowing who you are or want. Very Pretty Art by Despont
Yeah, painting was (is still) more highly regarded than drawing. Drawing being more personal, more private, where you can see the mistakes, the searching, the exploration. I can relate to what she said about filling sketchbooks. They become your journals. Beautiful work and very engaging video. 👏
Not meant to come across as an insult, some of her work has the look of wallpaper designs. Others resemble mandalas; while. others are reminiscent of, or evoke Aborigine dreamtime art.
When we're In the learning process these rules matters But when we learnes the skill and we know our style of drawing or painting in which we enjoyed alot Then we didn't go for rules
Assistants are so common...always were, even in the middle ages. Some contribute more then others of course, but co-artist. I dont know. Hope she gets paid well though.
How come she can draw so complicated figures yet they resonate some kind of peaceful harmony, amazing

This is my favorite artvideo, which I have looked at many times by now.
I really enjoy to find gifted young people doing their own thing in life.
Fascinating work, so happy to see another artist enchanted with the old ledgers.
Envy your youthful flexibility my 70+ yr. back could not take it. Beautiful works 👍🇨🇦

This was really well done, and I was able to watch at just the right time for me. Thank you!
the thoughtfulness expressed and how it renders as art is really impressive.

Rule no.1 I was told on Art class is:you do NOT use rulers, stencils etc. when drawing.
Dude, an artist makes his/her own rules.
When we're In the learning process these rules matters
But when we learnes the skill and we know our style of drawing or painting in which we enjoyed alot
Then we didn't go for rules
And here I thought using stencils was cheating.....and having an assistant? Should bump her up to co artist.
Assistants are so common...always were, even in the middle ages. Some contribute more then others of course, but co-artist. I dont know. Hope she gets paid well though.
same artist with her colonial gaze !
Sounds like you have a Cultural Marxist gaze.
Ridiculous
