About the psychedelics….there’s a caveat to this but I’ve briefly known three people who regularly did them and honestly, all three were extremely narcissistic and thought they had divine wisdom about everything. They would become extremely agitated if anyone disagreed with their opinions. They also had very poor social relationships because I think they thought normal humans who hadn’t had their experiences didn’t know anything and they couldn’t relate to them. The caveat is that I didn’t know them before they had done psychedelics for many years, so I can’t say if they were narcissistic to begin with. I don’t have a baseline to decide if they were more stable or less before the psychedelics. In any case, I wasn’t around them long before realizing I didn’t want to be.

Below is a detailed essay that delves into the key points discussed in the RUclips video featuring Michael Pollan and Lewis Howes on the topic of foods to avoid for a longer, healthier life.
    ### The Illusion of Healthy Eating: Unveiling the Truth with Michael Pollan and Lewis Howes
    #### The Rise of Ultra-Processed Foods
In an era where convenience is king, ultra-processed foods have taken center stage in the American diet, making up a staggering 60% of total food consumption. These foods are not just processed but are "ultra-processed," a term that signifies the addition of numerous artificial ingredients, emulsifiers, and preservatives. Michael Pollan warns that while these foods often carry health claims, they are far from beneficial for our well-being. Take, for example, the Impossible Burger and the Beyond Burger. Marketed as "plant-based," these products contain a myriad of artificial ingredients, some of which have never been part of the human diet. The term "plant-based" may sound healthy, but it's often a smokescreen for a product that is anything but.
    #### The Sugar Epidemic
Sugar is another culprit that has insidiously infiltrated our food supply. It's not just in candies and desserts but also in places you wouldn't expect, like ketchup and bread. Pollan points out that the food industry has discovered the magic formula: adding sugar to anything boosts its sales. This is because humans are hardwired to like sweetness, an evolutionary trait that once signaled the presence of nutritious, energy-rich food. However, in today's context, this preference has been exploited, leading to excessive sugar consumption that is detrimental to our health.
    #### The Deception of Artificial Sweeteners
Artificial sweeteners, often used in diet sodas and zero-calorie drinks, present another layer of complexity. While they promise the sweetness of sugar without the calories, they can actually sabotage weight loss efforts. When your body senses sweetness without the accompanying caloric intake, it triggers cravings for sugary foods, negating the purpose of consuming a zero-calorie drink in the first place.
    #### The Importance of Real Food
Pollan advocates for a return to real, whole foods-foods that your grandmother would recognize and that contain ingredients a third-grader can pronounce. His mantra is simple yet profound: "Eat food, not too much, mostly plants." This approach not only aligns with our evolutionary dietary patterns but also supports a diverse and healthy gut microbiome, which is emerging as a critical factor in overall health.
    #### The Microbiome and Its Role in Health
Recent research has shed light on the importance of a healthy gut microbiome, comprised of approximately 10 trillion microbes. These microbes play a crucial role in our health, from nutrient absorption to immune function. A diet rich in plant-based foods provides the fiber these microbes need to thrive, further emphasizing the importance of shifting away from ultra-processed foods and towards a more natural diet.
In conclusion, the conversation between Michael Pollan and Lewis Howes serves as a wake-up call, urging us to scrutinize our dietary choices. Ultra-processed foods, excessive sugar, and artificial sweeteners may offer convenience and momentary pleasure, but they come at a steep cost to our long-term health. By returning to a diet rich in real, whole foods, we can align our eating habits with our biological needs, fostering not just longevity but also a higher quality of life.

The biggest difference between plant-based and meat-based UPFs is ethical rather than nutritional. The meat-based ones are almost always made from animals fattened on feedlots or otherwise raised on intensive feeding operations. At least the plant-based UPFs don't demand the routine abuse and suffering of our fellow sentient beings for their existence.

Heads up, rant alert! Even if you don't believe humans caused recent weather changes, do you still:
      - want people to live next to noisy exhaust covered freeways with increased lung cancers among non-smokers,
or freeways with quiet clean EVs?
      - want people to live next to a coal powered electricity plant supplied from destroyed mountain top environments
or next to a renewables power station?
      - want people to live downwind and downstream from gigantic beef and pork feedlots using plants grown with toxic chemicals, or small-scale organic feedlots and farms?
      - want people to drink water and swim in oceans filled with endocrine disrupting oil, chemicals and plastic byproducts from
tankers, factories, fracking and other industries, or clean fresh water?
      - want to witness an animal choking to death on a plastic bag, or it's babies deformed by birth defects from toxic runoff, no longer have forests and trails to walk in due to slash and burn farming, or enjoy nature as it was intended?
      - want your daughter to work in a de facto slave labor garment factory powered by coal in order to fill jet airplanes with tons of cardboard boxes containing pointless fast fashion that's tossed out in a few months, or try to extend the life of clothes and reuse materials?
      - want me to go on and on, or have me shut up already!
I hope you can look past the myth and lies of climate change and recognize that most all the underlying changes proposed by climate activists are good for you, your family and the planet.
