  • Join me on a first ride out/ test ride on the Brand New Royal Enfield Himalayan.
Royal Enfields new bike is their first water cooled offering and they have to get it right as it is one of their core models that is very successful in the home market.
The price has gone up considerably but is the bike improved over the older, outgoing model?
    Let's find out.

your are right, one of himalayan head said on interview, himalayan is been testing from past 5 years, engine is designed for modifications like big bore kit and its frame is more than enough to take on it.

Hi Mate, you can see the forks working Beautifully. I never really noticed till you pointed it out but they are very good. Ride quality over the crappy roads we've got is wonderful. Soaks up the bumps.
I'll have to see if they will lend me a Shotgun and report back!
    Ride safe mate.👍

Just a little bit lighter than the 411 and nearly double the power . It will reach a broader market than the 411 , which to me was in a bit of a niche category . Not quite off road and yet not quite a comfortable plodder .
For maintaining highway speeds on the asphalt and also capable for the gravel roads around here , I think it will do just nicely thank you . Can't wait to try one out .😊

I agree completely, It's a jack of all trades. I'd have one if I needed a bit of off roading or/ and touring ability.
But for what I need right now I'll stick with my little Classic.

Great limited review. Recently saw one where they rode them up a mountain. This bike is truly dual purpose. I am very tempted but am realistic in my age and ability. Putting around B roads on my Meteor is more realistic. Nicely done.

Thankyou, I can't argue with any of that. It'd be great off road but I'm 20 years too late to exploit it's true potential. Great bike though.

I took the 450 out for a test ride last week and immediately placed my order. I love it! My one comment with your video is that I saw you riding at 35 mph in sixth gear. I tried that and whilst I really liked how it felt, I also didn’t feel that the bike was comfortable at those revs at that speed. I have never owned a single before so maybe the feeling is normal… I really look forward to finding out when my bike arrives!
Thanks for posting your excellent video.

Thanks, didn't notice that but it must of been comfortable if it wasn't I'd of changed instantly. You do get to know.
It's a long stroke engine, pulls from way down low.
      Enjoy your new bike mate👍

It’s a cracking looking bike and a good review Keith, I do like that colour scheme especially. As I see it there’s only one problem, I just wish I was 10 years younger 😂 all the best buddy 👍

Mike, I completely agree, I'd say 20 years younger for me. It'd be great to play about on some mild off-road for me, I'm sure it's a very capable bike.👍

Nice review Keith. We'll see how the water cooling holds up over time. Big step for RE. Looks like it can handle potholes well. Good looking adventure bike. Stay safe.

Yes mate, this would be a great low capacity all rounder. It's capable of pretty much anything.

Saw reviews by a couple of 410 owners, Martin Trafford & Rest Day Ride. Coincidentally the same bike from Smalley Cross as he is from your area and she is from Wiltshire.
Both impressed with ride but not enough to swap.

I think it depends on what you want it for, if you want to tickle about locally then it's the Classic for me. However if you wanted some off road ability combined with a bit of longer distance touring ability then I'd plump for the Himalayan.
      Just my opinion.

@@shottostravels being vertically challenged restricts my options, though Usernamekate (met her once) is a couple of inches shorter than me and rides anything

@derbyshireruralrider9398 indeed, I believe the seat is adjustable, and I bet you can get a low seat version. It didn't feel tall at all. I bought a bike off Kate once the week before she went vlogging full time. Lovely girl. Glad to see it's gone well for her.👍

Great vlog. I'm doing some thinking re a new bike. Wanna step down from a litre bike and I'm stuck between this and the NX500. The Royal looks to have much more character as a thumper. Price is comparable, bit cheaper for this bike if go tubed tyres. Ride safe pal

Thanks. I bet they are both great bikes. I'm a Royal Enfield fan now but best advice is probably get a couple of test rides and see what feels right to you.

Admittedly it's not an adventure bike but the GoldStar has a bigger engine, more power, more torque and yet is coming in at 6 grand for the black one. How many will actually take the RE off road, not many i would think.

You feels ignorant. The people in eu many not take it offroad but the people of the other countries does.

I rode the 450 last week and whilst I agree with your sentiment I should say that I loved the bike so much that I ordered one on the spot. Me, I doubt that I’ll ever take my bike anywhere more rough than a pothole or speed bump, but what is the point of forking out £6 grand on a machine if it fails to stir your emotions? The Himalayan certainly does that… and it makes me feel good to know that in the extremely unlikely event that I went off road, the bike will be more competent than I am.
