First off - Curry and LeBron didn’t play in 2020 - and we beat France. Second, France played lights out and we still beat them by 11. We played awful defense. We beat Serbia multiple times by 20+ points. At the end of the day, basketball is about a numbers game. Part of the reason serbia built up a 17 point lead was Steph getting killed defensively while Joel was playing in drop coverage leading to wide open threes while everyone was in rotation. If you have JT in there you're going to have an elite defender who rebounds well and can cover up some of those issues. The broader issue on the JT stuff is simple Yes he didn't shoot well, but Kerr's gotta find 15 minutes there against an elite team like serbia. This was a issue of Kerr's own making and NOW it's an issue for 2028. Good luck for grant hill to rerecruit your only first team ALL-NBA American.
