Ampeg Pre is really aggressive and clean/dirty
Aguilar Pre is very clean, tight, and transparent

I just liked watching you shred. I picked up the Ampeg last week for live and mobile recording purposes. So far so good, the stock IRs add some nice realistic air and the tones are as flexible as my bass allows. My only gripe is that it lacks headroom, so whatever it's going into should ideally have a good amount of gain, but otherwise, a major upgrade from my old Sansamp
