This is BS for at least two reasons. 1. As a retired police officer I spent time on the SWAT team which the K9 officers served under. K9 dogs never go to a shelter and anyone who they go to has to be vetted and trained on how to handle the dog. You just can't turn a highly trained attack dog over to an untrained person, it's a large lability issue. 2. A woman that had been robbed before at that ATM would not go back at night to that ATM. Also most apartment managers aren't allow to take cash payments because the aren't allowed to keep cash in the office, especially in a bad area of town.

Glad to read comments below because I thought it quite bizarre that a trained dog would be taken to a shelter. That said, GSDs are amazing. I agree with many comments in here 1 GSD are incredible breeds..2 ATM at night is dangerous especially alone..3 No Cop dog's gets to shelters they are either given to relatives of K9 Handlers, retired colleagues, military vets or someone who has experience in dealing with that type of care responsibility that comes with a such highly demanding type of dog..in comparison when comes to paying rent in Sweden to USA no landlord in Sweden accepts regular cash as payment they send the rent billl to the bank & they withdraw the amount from the bank account directly if you given approval to be on the list of automatic payments or they send a digital bill to your phones banking apps & then you confirming the payment online automatically when you logging into your digital account to pick the registered pay day date on the calendar to be withdrawn from
many are given to retired police officers and some are not. It all depends on how locally they deal with it. I know some who got theirs from a neighbor who's son was a officer, and one was a military dog sniffing out explosives given to a retired fireman. Just so you know some of these dogs come back from service a wreak. One would never sleep by himself outside he hollered like a hound until he could come inside and stayed right beside you even at night. He followed like a puppy. But he did not like fireworks or any kind of shots even the 2-5 blocks away kind was not far enough he would go into a frenzy and a few times had to go to the vet to be calmed down because he literally got sick. He died 3 or 4 years later of some kind of cancer of the bones. As for the story...Most of this stuff on YT these days is made up entertainment.
If I were in the retired canine policeman’s situation, there is no possible way I could give up my dog, especially a dog I worked with everyday likely for many years and I knew was so loyal and unconditionally loving she would lay down her life to protect mine. How could any dog lover part with their dog! I’m glad Raven found a kind loving home where she’s needed and gets to see her old police partner as well. Service dogs deserve good homes when retired for the selfish dangerous job they did so well! It’s the least we owe them.
This story can’t be true, mainly because of the process in which she obtained the dog, but also: 1) WHY ON EARTH would a person keep going to an ATM where they’d been robbed, esp @ night?!?! 2) I’ve worked with young women for years and always tell them (and girls in my family) “never leave your residence and live with a man. When problems arise , you have NO PLACE to go! Women are the ones at risk, in many ways, when living with a man. If he really cares about you, professing undying love, he will make it permanent so that you are, protected and provided for. Be careful, take your time, (at least 2 yrs to know a person), choose wisely, and save yourself a world of heartache!
German Shepherd’s are awesome. I have five German Shepherd’s and a Pitbull love them all ,very protective of me. Great story and I’m glad that the dog has a good home!!!!
German shepherds and Pitbulls are such amazing dogs. So faithful and protective. Pitbulls always get such a bad rap. The dogs are amazing, it's the crappy owners that suck. I've never met a pitbull that wasn't a big baby 😅😅😅
have you seen a video where a man has several and they walk beautifully with him everywhere . so well trained . also a video with several different dogs all sitting in a line with their dinner bowl waiting patiently lovely too .
Exactly, I always say the same thing and even found myself telling my ex-wife the same things to her, whenever she did certain unsafe things as well. The attitude is always that nothing wrong can happen to them and for some reason the mind set is that they are untouchable. Never say never, because you never know and it’s better to take precautions in life than to be sorry. A couple of summers ago in Memphis,Tn there was a teacher, who usually did her run in the early hours of the day and one day she was snatched off the streets during one of those runs and they found her several days later, after she was dumped like trash. They ultimately found the suspect who deleted her. But, I am pretty sure that there were people in her life, who told her not to run at 4am. But some times, woman act like you cannot say anything to them, when your attempts will probably save her life.
Assuming that a police dog would actually find a way into a regular civilian's life, and that the story didn't come off as fake, for a cop, the man failed miserably at his job- showing up in the dark near an ATM, practically stalking Samantha. I can only imagine that happening with crooked cops.
This is one of those b******* rage bait stories. A K-9 Officer would never end up in a pound because if something were to happen and that dog bites somebody the city would be sued into Oblivion. These dogs are trained to take down and if necessary kill someone besides, there is no Cop Shop in this country that would ever treat a police canine like that. I'm not a supporter of cops and I am not a hater of cops, I judge each one of them on an individual basis based on their actions alone. But this is Rage bait trying to stir up more hatred for cops.
Why this young woman Samantha, waited to go to the ATM at night??? She should have gone during the day. Living in Detroit or anywhere else’s is certainly very dangerous, never mind going at night time! That being said, Raven is a very gorgeous German Shepherd! She is the epitome of a true beauty. What a pretty face she has and those intelligent eyes…..they look like human eyes. Awesome dog. LOVE German Shepherd dogs, they are my favorite dogs. God bless her always ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍🙌🙌🙌
I rescued a full grown black German Shepard/bk lab mix. 90lbs. She also seemed to be ‘on duty’. I never chained her, let her roam free and put up beware of dog signs. Yes, she barked at everyone, many were afraid of her but she was nice to women and children. She understood many human words, and was spade so I think she was professionally trained. She became my best friend and I had her for seven years...and to this day I miss her.😪
The one thing that many people forget is that you can never say never about police dogs being adopted by the public since you can’t know everything that goes on in the world. Too many different laws in states, countries, etc. I believe this could be a true story. Also people do kick other people to the street because there are many people without a heart who are cruel to even their own family. Domestic violence is real.
Mistake #1 going to ATM late at night. Mistake #2 Walking alone at night, good thing with the dog Mistake #3 Not finding another place to use the ATM that was safer.
It amazes me when people in the comments say things like “this or that would never happen.” Keep living long enough and you will be surprised by the thing’s that actually happen’s. Once you travel, move around, or converse with people these new experiences could change your entire thought process. With this story alone it’s multiple comments regarding their personal experiences or witness to the fact that K-9 dog police can be adopted to a non service or unexperienced person. K-9 police dogs can only work a certain amount of years on active force, therefore if his handler and partner ends up having multiple dogs I could see where he could not care for each dog throughout his career. Not to mention the possibility of a K-9 police officer retiring and during his old age or potential death the K-9 dog may have to be rehoused or placed in a shelter. Once the K-9 police dog is retired from his duties years from then how can the police department control where the k-9 goes. The K-9 handler could very well leave that department move from that State or Country. I eventually realized some comments will be from another Country so their laws or experiences may be different but in the US this could very well be true. The US sometimes fail to take care of their own serviceman/veterans and civilians properly, so I can only imagine the lack of support K-9 dog police experience. A large portion of the homeless in the US are veterans, some are skilled in professional combat. Yet they are let on the streets.
I lived next door to a lady with a female smallish German Shepherd. I was in my late teens. Being 5’1”, she always had to be petted and played with ANY time she saw me.Lady was a very good dog. The only thing we could think of was she thought of was she saw me as a child. Lady, you will be in my heart.
Whether the story is real or not, women all need a hefty dog for protection. I appreciate the push for women to adopt big dogs and enjoy the freedom you feel. I could go hiking with my dogs and men all gave me a wide berth and never bothered me.
This story is fake...nice story but totally unbelievable. Many reasons..including the fact that several different dogs represented Raven. No shots of the girl and her new dog walking along..So totally it was staged without the dog..Any dog shots were just that...photos. And no trained police dog is given to the shelter. Period. They are highly trained and would be a disaster in the wrong hands waiting for the correct appropriate instruction. If the new owner knew nothing about the prior training and commands, the dog would be so confused. And dangerous.
Animals never forget. RAVEN will be happy , to know that its loved this much. I have a Shepherd that looks just like raven. Hes a very smart dog. Never leaves my sight

Many years ago I looked after my boyfriend's German Shepherd and as I waitressed during the day had to walk him at night. One evening I encountered a young man who had left his abusive home in the country and was looking for somewhere to stay as the Salvo home was only for older alcoholic men, not young boys of 16. I offered to walk him to the Wayside chapel. On my return a car slowed down and the driver looked dodgy but he sped off after he saw the dog walk onto the road. Walking Sydney streets at night with Buster gave me a confidence that never left me.
As a former owner of a EOD Canine retrained into a Medical Alert Canine, my Rocky was the best friend and companion a man could ever have. An American German Shepherd with capabilities to numerous to list here, he was a true member of my family. Very protective of my wife, daughter and son, he even saved my son, who was only 3-4 years old at the time, from two coyotes that meant to attack my son while playing on a grassy knoll, he attacked those two coyotes and saved him. We didn’t even see those two coyotes but somehow Rocky did or simply smelled them very close by. They say that German Shepherds can see into the souls of men. I truly believe that to be true. 👍
Yeah, that is a pretty great story, but as a retired police officer, and somebody who will still train dogs for the police department, and the military and various alphabet agencies, and I also work with rescues that places dogs with said agencies, I know, for a fact that none of my dogs That I train end up in shelters now I have taken certain breeds out of shelters and have trained them for these agencies but they don’t go back to shelters. They will either go with their handlers when they retire, or as stated, will go to fully vetted homes or other handlers or come back to me and I will place them with other handlers or fully vetted homes that I have vetted or stay with me until they cross the bridge.
Actually, I also adopted a dog from the shelter, a blue healer and it was obviously professionally trained. I lived near an airforce base, and many police/ sheriff dept.'s, my husband was retired fire dept. 🔥 there was no doubt this dog was professionally trained, it hunted and killed all animals on our property 23 acres, and was extremely intelligent and may have even Been used by the DEA OR ICE Agency, there's no way to know how he ended up at the shelter, but he was definitely a runner and was always taking off chasing animals so it's quite possible he was separated from his owner, or his owner passed away and the family was not capable to take care of him, he was a hand full and because we lived on a lot of land was able to give him the life he needed, he would not have survived in the city in a small house all day😢 he and my husband were inseparable until he passed away...
Yeah, I cry BS on this one as well. Because of their service to the police force and the military, these dogs are made sure of getting a proper home. Not to mention the guy wouldn’t just stand there and look like a stalker without saying something because he would be scaring that girl. And if he didn’t give a crap about the dog and wanted to give it away, why would he want to arrange a coffee date to keep in touch with it? Seriously? nope
Dogs never forget. I had a great Dane who haven’t seen me for four or five years. And as I was going up to the front door it was on full alert to protect the kids in the house and as soon as Harley smelled me he almost went through the screen door. It was a wonderful reunion but Harley really wanted to go with me and not stay with that family so I never went back again. There wasn’t anyway I could keep him.
I grew up in Detroit and I wouldn't go anywhere without my black Labrador retriever his name was Snoopy and anyone who be a fool to come anywhere around us my ex husband was a Deputy and we trained Snoopy extremely well he would protect my son's and I and every other child I remember a neighbor of ours went to hit his 5 year old Downs syndrome daughter and I temporarily hooked Snoopy,s least on to our railing and Snoopy litteraly ripped the railing out of the concrete stairs and went after the neighbor and the only thing that saved the neighbor was because the neighbor ran into another neighbor,s yard and the railing got stuck in the neighbor,s privacy fence he told me that he was going to have my dog taken away from me and I told him that you should,nt have tried to hit your special needs little child so he called the cops and when the neighbor told the cops that he was going to disapline his daughter and the dog went after him and the cops told him that your damn Lucky that dog didn't get ahold of you because you would be in the hospital or dead and the cops were right because snoopy was a 125 pound lab snoopy was that big because he ate some steroids when he was a puppy

I agree with many comments in here 1 GSD are incredible breeds..2 ATM at night is dangerous especially alone..3 No Cop dog's gets to shelters they are either given to relatives of K9 Handlers, retired colleagues, military vets or someone who has experience in dealing with that type of care responsibility that comes with a such highly demanding type of dog..in comparison when comes to paying rent in Sweden to USA no landlord in Sweden accepts regular cash as payment they send the rent billl to the bank & they withdraw the amount from the bank account directly if you given approval to be on the list of automatic payments or they send a digital bill to your phones banking apps & then you confirming the payment online automatically when you logging into your digital account to pick the registered pay day date on the calendar to be withdrawn from
We got our former K-9 unit GSD at a pet shelter. She was taken away from her handler due to abuse. They put her at the SPCA
many are given to retired police officers and some are not.
This bots channel is always 💯BS!
NO police dog is ever put in a shelter.
The dogs are not retired just because the officer retires.
Be careful, take your time, (at least 2 yrs to know a person), choose wisely, and save yourself a world of heartache!
i read a story where a couple said . people can be together with some one for 50 years and still dont know each other completely .
Maybe utube are all mini dramas, some are good stories made up
German Shepherd’s are awesome. I have five German Shepherd’s and a Pitbull love them all ,very protective of me. Great story and I’m glad that the dog has a good home!!!!
No woman would do this in Detoit!!! I call BS... I live in Metro D...
I had 4 German Shepherds when I was stationed in Germany and 3 Doberman Pinchers. Now I have 3 small doggies. Two Papillons and a Miniature Pincher
If you really know a breed of dog you know how to write the plural of its name...
WOW, WHAT A GREAT DOG! Thanks. John P.
You are so kind
Why would you withdraw money at night in a dangerous neighbourhood, especially if you’d been robbed and attacked beforehand!
I disagree with this dramatized story. This is not how retired police dogs are treated. It was irritating yo listen too.
Had three wonderful guide dogs and would give anything to hug them one last time, so this story really spoke to me.
You right there !!!!
I don't believe an ex cop would stalk a lady in the night as presented here! I.E. never let truth stand in the way of a good story!
That's OK then, because this is a crappy story.
The thing is why she would go at night time to get money out?
You wouldn't in Detroit...
@@jenscheibner792 i am in europe and i would not go in the night even in the nicest of neighbourhoods .
Obviously, to get her rent money. Doesn't everyone pay their rent with cash? Don't tell me you're doubting this story!

She likes being robbed
what a wonderful story. i have two German Shepherds, they're great dogs.

ATM at night, you’ve got to be nuts.
Thanks for adopting 'Raven' Samantha, i wish Raven a long and healthy rest of her life!
Great Story!Dogs are the BEST!
Made up BS...
No, no, this is a true story. The dog was trained by Larry Holmes, the legendary boxer, and it went on to study at Princeton.
For a moment I thought I was listening to my mother telling me a bedtime story.
The police would not leave a dog that has dedicated their life to service. When the dog retires he/she has a very good retirement
Not always! Be reasonable!
The story is obviously fiction. Too many actions that do not correspond to normal behavior.
Mistake #1 going to ATM late at night. Mistake #2 Walking alone at night, good thing with the dog Mistake #3 Not finding another place to use the ATM that was safer.
I call B.S. on this made up story....
Mistake 4 believing this story...
They married, had many children, and were happily forever after.
Why would she go out at night even with a dog. She was foolish.
Yeah it makes no sense, no one can be that stupid ignorant.
You are totally right thanks for calling out the liars
Made up story... We have drive up ATM and no women would take a chance like this in Detroit...
Great stuff
This story is fake...nice story but totally unbelievable. Many reasons..including the fact that several different dogs represented Raven. No shots of the girl and her new dog walking along..So totally it was staged without the dog..Any dog shots were just that...photos. And no trained police dog is given to the shelter. Period. They are highly trained and would be a disaster in the wrong hands waiting for the correct appropriate instruction. If the new owner knew nothing about the prior training and commands, the dog would be so confused. And dangerous.
I have a German Shepherd that looks just like raven and he is so protective good dog You'll never be sorry you got that dog
She has been robbed twice and still goes out at night to the ATM!😂
Animals never forget. RAVEN will be happy , to know that its loved this much. I have a Shepherd that looks just like raven. Hes a very smart dog. Never leaves my sight
Never go too a ATM machine out side day or night unless there's many people's there

@@wonderbotanimalsBut a dog is for live, not just for anything else. So a K9 dog is obligated to do not natural things. Let humans do the jobs themselfs and not use a dog! 🐕😍
I go everywhere with my 100 lb open carry Lab Mastiff mix! He's got Six.. 🐕
Never underestimate the power of a dog DOGS RULE
A load of cobblers!!
That is the best story glade for raven and hope they all stay friends❤
Why don't you just call this an audio book since there is no video of the woman and her dog's encounter.........

Raven is such a pretty dog
I find it hard to believe this storyline
Who can pick up cash from ATM in the night? I think, this is BS.
Do not use an ATM 🏧 at night!!! Very foolish..
Seriously? nope
Why did she withdraw money at nights and not daytime?
Dogs never forget. I had a great Dane who haven’t seen me for four or five years. And as I was going up to the front door it was on full alert to protect the kids in the house and as soon as Harley smelled me he almost went through the screen door. It was a wonderful reunion but Harley really wanted to go with me and not stay with that family so I never went back again. There wasn’t anyway I could keep him.
Imagine adopting an ex drug sniffing dog?, take it for walks?, AROUND THE AIRPORT!.
Whole story reeks of complete BS to start to finish.
A single woman... walking alone after dark.... with a big German Sheppard. Yeah.. talk about a tempting target.
