Hey I'm doing a similar with my pioneer avic. Would i need a bypass harness if i wanted the use the camera to see behind me while driving. In the video you just wired it to the 'accessory' red wire. I bought some extrea 18g to just wire as you did but not sure if I need the bypass switch or not. Thanks!
@@Halalpepperonii They Bypass is only for video playback and accessing some menu settings while in motion. It is totally unaffiliated with the backup camera function.
Just what I needed! You gave me the confidence and know how to get that silver plastic thing off and cutting the grommet to fit my wires in. THANK YOU!!
Awesome vid but at 10:45 that solder connection will definitely fail over several years, I know because I have tried soldered connections for radios and areas in the rear and they all fail after 3-4 years from vibrations. Crimp connection like you did on the one below would be better but I bet you did not have enough wire. I wonder what wire guage/type could we use to extend the wire?
There isn't one behind the radio, so you can look around the steering column, fuse box, etc. For most people, much much easier just to snag it from the reverse light since you are running wire anyways.
Thank you for the links! I have an 08 Impreza and my radio install kit has gaps on the sides. I just purchased the Metra kit you have in this car and am hoping for a cleaner finish.
I have the same problem of the back up light being far from the trigger cable by the camera. Do I need to run an extension for the trigger cable near camera all the way to the back light? Instead, can I just tap into the red cable that come to power the camera and just splice it?
I have a 2017 Nissan Frontier SV Crew Cab that didn’t come with a backup camera. All the manual says about it is “if so installed” so the version I have doesn’t have it installed. How do I tell if the screen on my truck has video input and how do I know if a backup camera will work on it?
Can you possibly diagram this? I have the camera hooked up and when I go into reverse it turns on. I also ran your yellow wire tied into my accessory (red) wire from the head unit to back there. I'm not following what your yellow wire goes to in the back. Please help.
I've watched over this a bunch of times trying to find where you connect the brake wire but I keep missing it, where in the video did you show the wire?
Parts linked in the description below!

A good tutorial. However I may look for the reverse trigger in the dash vs running additional wires all the way too/from the back of the vehicle.

It’s a pioneer so we used a microbypass relay.
Hey where did you get the video panel from. Thanks.
