- Everyone's favorite schemer Starscream returns with a plan to get himself back in Galvatron's good graces. Meanwhile, Optimus Prime finds out that giving up the Matrix could have dire consequences.

"Transformers G1 Returns!" is an independently made continuation of the original "The Transformers" cartoon series made by Sunbow, picking up right where the last episode "The Rebirth, Part 3" left off. This mini series was created to demonstrate to Hasbro that a small independent film studio can produce a product of comparable quality to the original on a limited budget. It is our hope that we can generate enough interest in the project that Hasbro will consider an official online web series continuation of the G1 cartoon.
"Transformers G1 Returns!" and Fanatic Films are in no way affiliated with or endorsed by Hasbro. The Transformers characters, names, and likenesses are property and copyright of Takara Tomy/Hasbro and are used herein under the fair use principal as a derivative work. Please support the official product.
This transformative remix work constitutes a fair-use of any copyrighted material as provided for in section 107 of the US copyright law. Each of the 4 points of section 107 are addressed individually below with our comments following the *asterisk:
(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes; *The purpose of this video series is to demonstrate to the copyright holder, Hasbro, that A) There is a sizable market for a continuation of their original cartoon series and B) Modern technology has advanced over the past 30 years to the point that a small group of independent film makers are able to produce a work of comparable quality to that of the original work on an extremely small budget. The use of this video series is not commercial in nature, it is hosted on a non-monetized RUclips account and the creators do not profit from the material in any way. The purpose of posting the videos online publicly is to generate enough views and interest that the copyright holder will take notice and respond to fans wishes of continuing the original series. (2) the nature of the copyrighted work; *The original work is an animated series of light hearted stories aimed at children which were for the most part, individual stories independent from one another. Our work meets the definition of "transformative" or "derivative" as this series seeks to present an overarching storyline throughout the entire series with harsher tones aimed at an adult audience.
(3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; *Like any remix, the original work is heavily featured however, it is used in a transformative nature as described in point 2. In addition, all storylines and dialogue are new and independent of the original work. A comparative ratio of new to original material would be difficult to gauge but in general, all visuals, sound effects and music are from the original work while all dialogue and storytelling angles are new material.
(4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work; *This series is being distributed solely for fans of the original "The Transformers" series which has not produced a new episode since 1987. It is not related to, nor meant to draw attention away from any current Transformers broadcasts by Hasbro. We ask that viewers watch all official Transformers media before watching this series. It would in fact, only make sense to a reasonable person to view the original work prior to this series since it follows the original work's fiction chronologically. It is also possible that this series may in fact create increased interest in Hasbro's "Generations" Transformers toyline which is related to the original Transformers series which this work is based upon since the original toyline saw a significant boost in sales due to it's supporting work of fiction at the time. Finally, given the use of the word "Unofficial" in the title and highly visible disclaimers before, after and in the video description of each episode stating that this work is in no way related to Hasbro, any reasonable person should be able to differentiate this from an official Hasbro product. Thus, any negativity associated with this series should not impact Hasbro in any way.

BTW, yes I know Starscream got his body back in Season 3. He appears as a ghost in a few scenes here because we couldn't figure out a way to make him appear solid. If YOU know how to do it, consider yourself hired! The pay sucks and it's long hours but..... well, that's all actually :(

For me it's all good. It's nothing compared to Soundwave's mouth being crooked in the "return of optimus prime" episode. All episodes of g1 transformers had so many errors. So the ghost of starscream is nothing different. Keep up the great work!!

@@stephenparkes I think this was a very interesting way of incorporating overlord, and the Apex armor super mode into the G1 series. Can’t wait for part two! I’m glad we finally got a name for the bot that would eventually become Megatron.

I think I've figured out Starscream's plan:
He's gonna build Overlord, then transfer his mind into the body, bury Galvatron in ice, and bring Zarak to heel (simply because he doesn't want to throw Scorponok away). He'd become Decepticon leader AND have Megatron serving him as one of his Powermaster partners (since Megs would be too small and weak in that form to do anything to Starscream/Overlord). And this time, he'll STAY Decepticon leader, at least until Deathsaurus comes along.
Also, Galvatron should've asked how Starscream was alive after what he did to him in the movie.
Galvatron already knows Starscream survived (sort of) in the Starscream's Ghost/Ghost in the Machine episodes. Galvatron last saw Starscream getting back his body from Unicron and falling through space.
Interesting ideas, you'll have to wait and see how it turns out!

While I do miss Megatron, I really do enjoy Galvatron's insanity! Depending on how technology goes, we may end up doing a "Season 2.5" to fill in the vast amount of possible stories between the end of season 2 and the movie so all those guys would be featured quite a bit.

I love it. So well done but it’s very weird seeing characters in the show who are supposed to be dead like huffer, ratchet, ironhide, wheeljack, Optimus Prime and Starscream interacting with the movie characters. I am interested in getting to try voice acting for characters because I grew up with the G1 timeline of transformers and I think it’s the best one of them all

Man, I'm seeing Screamer as a more Swindle-like negotiator to Galvatron? What madness IS THIS?!! Then again, he didn't find probs with him in one of the Ladybird books.
Also, that voice sounds familiar...wait..I recall him in Ultra Marcus' Zarak mini-series! Guess intro-ing him to this channel was the best thing done.

The backstory does remind me of Kamen Rider Dragon Knight ep 37 when one of the main heroes was explaining to a Rider that one of the ones using the battle armor wasn't a good person. It was such an amazing scene that I highly recommend the show.
Still, if this episode had a subtitle, it would be called 'Legacy of Darkness'.
Unlike other media where they tend to favor Primus, you guys did the madlad job of embracing the actual origin in the cartoon and retroactively brought it full circle by making that Sentinel Prime opponent and making him into an older Megatron. Giga Major...not bad.
Spike may as well be a Super Saiyan at this point considering he fuses with more powerful Transformers in his time, he might as well become the most powerful Transformer to ever live. Even putting Megatron and Devastator in his place. XD Spike has some balls as an adult.
I did made a comment here when this came out but unfortunately, RUclips's suckery made it sure that the RUclips links made it impossible to bypass such mockery of programming. UGH..

Every time one of these comes out, it is a treat. This was excellent. I have to ask, did I miss something in an earlier episode? When was Megatron seperate from Galvatron in this series? I first assumed you were going the namesake route for Megatron, but then you had the gladiator become him. Still this was a creative way to introduce Overlord.
Thanks for the kind words! Regarding Megatron, you didn't miss anything and he is indeed still Galvatron in this series. The "Personality Database" has backups of every transformer who's no longer active, including anyone who has been reformatted. I probably should have left the word "deactivated" out of the script because the way I imagine it is, everyone would have a backup file so they could be rebuilt in the event their body was destroyed. We're going to remaster all these episodes once the season is done so I'll fix all these errors at that point.

Would like to know if Cobra Commander / Old Snake (using the snake man design from Operation Dragonfire along with the classic metal mask) will pop up now that Starscream is back. Would be interesting to see a crossover with the GI Joe Extreme team based on the timeline along with Flint and Marissa Faireborne

I hope to see thundercracker, skywarp and reflector. It could be like they've cloned themselves before the great war in the movie. Scourge could look at sky warp and be like "hey you're me" lol

It actually IS him. We had to use an AI voice for that role unfortunately as our actor got busy with school. Not something we like to do but was necessary here in order to avoid further delays.

One i dont get.....Galvatron is megatron...so what with the megatron personality chip thing??
The dialogue was a bit misleading but the "Personality archive" is meant to have back up personalities of every transformer, not just deactivated ones. We'll be remastering these episodes soon and it will be made more clear then.

Mysterious volcano erupted by forming an Island,Overlord and group of decepticons start a base on the island but got the attention of Optimus prime!
Darkside of the moon
Overlord sent to the moon by galvatron to meet up with black Zarak but brave maximus in Hot pursuit and on earth prime preparing to meet the threat !

Any footage used from 1980’s or 1990’s Transformers Toy Commercials during past or upcoming videos?
Unfortunately most of what remains of those commercials is of really poor quality so it's unlikely :(
I thought of the No Place Like Home video while viewing the commercial for Trypticon & the Protectobots (or Defensor). But the quality of the commercial was below that of the source footage from the G1 episode Ultimate Weapon.
Great video, as a kid born in 2004 who was introduced to G1 from my Dad. I will always love the first 3 bayformers movies, animated, prime, and of course G1. But for the love of primus, can someone please explain to me how on cybertron is wheeljack and ratchet still alive. They should be dead from the 86 movie.

I have a feeling it's going to be manipulation after manipulation after manipulation after manipulation starscream playing galvatron just so he could take control of the decepticon cause only for scorponok to play starscream to think he really has control of the decepticon cause just for scorponok to manipulate him just so he could take over the decepticon cause only for the quintessions to step in and possibly bring a reactivated clone of megatron and then the overlord steps in to wreak havoc on the autobots and rebel against with decepticons and the quintessions try to take control of him. Wow!! They really live up to there names of decepticons. And powermaster optimus prime after looking like he did in dark awakening comes in and saves the day. Wow!! They really live to there name "decepticons" lol

That wasn't actually us, it was our friends over at Prime Productions ULTD.
Was autobot gears part of the personality components that was destroyed
I would doubt it? As he has appeared in previous episodes.
Possibly a Decepticon with the same name.
He was however the personality database is meant to be a storage of ALL transformers back up personalities. Starscream says here it's for "Deactivated" transformers which was an error on my part since this script sat for about 7 years and went through several rewrites. It'll be fixed once we get around to remastering the episodes next year.

No plans currently for either to appear but who knows what the future holds!
@FanaticFilmsINC Maybe you can have Daniel become Cerebros's new headmaster, and Arcee can be a normal autobot again. Also if you wanna add them, you could make the Junior Headmasters friends of Daniel's too. You also could also have Magnus be damaged by Sixshot but have him be rebuilt into Godbomber. Just spitballing ideas. ^^;
If this is after the movie how is Ratchet alive?
The first of these Fanatic Films episodes established that they used the same Quintesson technology/methods that were used to rebuild Optimus in The Return of Optimus Prime to restore many of the Movie's dead/casualties to good working order.

No set date yet but should be within the next 2 months. These episodes take a long time to edit unfortunately.

Wait, is this not accepting The Rebirth? We've seen characters introduced in that in previous episodes. Spike is already bonded to Cerebros. This sounds like you are replacing Ginrai/Hi-Q
It follows on from The Rebirth however for a series like this (IE. relying entirely on existing footage/no new animation) to work, some compromises need to be made. Regarding Spike, we can assume he parted ways from Cerebros. The latter was not particularly interested in warfare anyway so it stands to reason he would not want to stick around to fight Decepticons any longer than he needed to.

I know it's tough trying to get new animation in this webseries. But I like how yall are able to work around it with alot existing footage. Until yall could come with some new animation.

To me they should have stuck with Gallen in the comics.

VA was busy with school, they have to use AI voice, however this is clever, think of it Galvatron voice still damaged from the fight
thats why he sound very very very different.
As @brandonvortex995 mentioned, our actor was busy and also suffered a jaw injury so it was either delay the episode for 6+ months or use an AI. Relying on actors who are performing for free is difficult at the best of times so AI is a necessary evil. No plans for Star Saber presently but perhaps in the future.
