I began listening again, crying, and remembering why life is so precious and sweet. Thank you for this beautiful song. It was here when I needed it most.
In the past year, I’ve lost my mama, my oldest sister and 3 days ago her youngest son unexpectedly died. When my sister died, I listened to this song over and over for days. I turn 70 tomorrow, my nephew’s memorial service is in the afternoon and on Monday my partner is taking me to see The Smile as a birthday gift. I wish I could meet Thom to tell him how much this music reaches into my heart and soul!

It never fails that Thom and Johnny can put out an album that at first disorients, and yet ends up worming it's way into your subconscious. My first listen leaves me wondering if their best days are behind them, but after repeated investigation I fall ever deeper in love with it. It's one of my favorite characteristics of their songwriting. It never gets old. And Jonny's brass orchestration on this album is sublime.
Soo true, when I first heard the singles, nothing seemed to click and I did hear them multiple times ( if theres anything ive learnt after hearing Radiohead, its that lol). But then upon hearing the whole album together, it was a mermerising and enchanting experience to say the least. Left in a station with a note upon

Any feeble branch to put my weight upon
Well, I lie to myself
Anywhere I dare to put my feet back down
Who’ll find a cab
In the pouring rain?
Who'll find the vein
Put the needle in?
And who hears that voice?
It's like bells ringing
How will I know you?
How will I know you?
How will I know you?
