  • When the cam chain stretches, it makes this kind of noise.
    Continuing to drive the engine with the abnormal noise will cause the wrong valve timing and serious damage to the engine. If there is an abnormal noise, perform maintenance ASAP.

    Thank You for Your videos, You have very helpful advice on TDM 900 👍! Has this problem ever been solved by Yamaha in later models? I have TDM RN18 Year 2010.

      Hello. I think this part hasn't been improved even in the latter model.

    Is it better to turn the crank to T ? Then adjust the tensioner ?

      This is an irregular way, so yes. It should be your way.

    Could you tell me the part number of this tensioner?

      The genuine parts# is 5PS-12210-00. But mine is modified for manual adjustment.

      This tensioner replaces the original auto tensioner's cap with a bolt and nut to hold down the minus screw inside the tensioner to prevent it from coming back. @73dominoav

      Is this an easy DIY Bolt and nout solution, or do i need to special parts to fix this?

      @@GalapagosJapan I'm also interested in this, you just simply remove the original screw and install a longer one along with a locknut?
