- I use the digipeater onboard the International space station. I receive APRS packets from hams all over the Eastern US and try send my own. Learn a bit about APRS, the equipment you need to do this and watch me try.

Thanks for sharing. I'm studying for my technician license now. It's amazing to see what is possible. I hope you have even greater success in the future.
Best of luck!
Thank you for your channel! I'm currently studying for the Tech license...you, sir, are a great motivator!
Thank you! Good luck on your test.
That looks like fun. Another thing to add to my ham radio bucket list.
i don't even understand anything he's saying but I'm still watching this :/
Thanks for this!
Really good I'm going to give this a try, thanks :)
Nice video quality!
Thank you! You’re in the 2% of my viewers!
Cool !
I need some help - can you define more about the PACKET PATH?
How did you compensate for the doppler shift in the frequency?
Any advice regarding hitting the ISS from your shack (desktop/laptop computer and rig, fixed VHF antenna)? Which apps for desktop specifically. Thanks.
doesn't the radio need to be able to gradually adjust the VFO for the doppler shift?
Was a little disappointed you didn't talk at all about the actual "set up APRS for relay by the ISS" piece. I'm going to make my first attempt tonight with 50W and was hoping to confirm that I've done everything right...
Set the path to ARISS, I did say that in the vid.
Where you setup the path on this radio? Thanks
Hi, im new to this hobby and i want to have mobile setup when I go hiking. I want you to recomend me a transciever and some good antenna. Thx
Can you please share a link to the satellite tracking app on iOS?
Hey Briam, just wandering how the uv88 is holding up?
Still using it. Solid unit.
Can you please post a link to the IOS app that you recommended? I can not find a ProSat HD in the app store.
Prosat HD is ipad only I think, I bought it awhile ago. I don't recommend any IOS aprs app since I had a poor customer service incident with one of main devs.
new to this, looking to get a hand held what do you recommend
there are so many options. On the low end I recommend TYT TH-UV88, on the top end Kenwood TH-D74. In between, that's up to you.
@@HamRadioInAction ft3d great also

***How do I learn the basics of ham radio? Point me somewhere.***
Download hamstudy app on android and study a few time's a day my area they cancel Exam because 19 . I wanted to upgrade but because of 19 can't at the moment. Check exams on arrl website.

Thank you for the quick reply and direction! It is much appreciated. I think things may be getting worse in the future and an alternative communications protocol may be necessary.
If you like RUclips search "technician class license course", lots of solid teachers going over the material. If you like books get the AARL study guide (link in the description of this video). If you like face to face learning, see if there is a club in your area and if they offer a course. Good Luck.

Thank you for your quick reply! Much appreciated. I value the direction.
I would say using an HT is fine for receiving packets, but for sending packets you probably need something with a bit more power. 25w would probably be good, maybe just one of those mobile amplifiers hooked up to an HT. I'm hoping to do this and maybe even contact someone on the ISS, I need a better directional antenna though. 73, de KE8OHW
I've had good luck doing this with 5 watts, this was a rare strikeout. Not sure if it was all the trees around me or a radio setting? I get to a more wide open spot next time. Good luck! 73
@@HamRadioInAction, probably a combination of those things. Unfortunately I have not had a good ISS pass in a while, most of them are quite low to the horizon and are at a time when the astronauts are asleep. 73
I'm thinking of buying one of these Arrow antennas to try w/ my D74. Do you need an adapter for the antenna?
Yes you need an SMA male to BNC male I think. Basically opposite of the connector on your radio plus a BNC male. 90% sure the arrow uses an SMA female.
Thanks😊👍 KN6EHB
So much to do with radio, need more $$$.
Sing, sing the song of our people.
ouch
Indeed.
