    It's an electrical interference. Something is getting too much power through the audio port. If it's using the audio from the camera(even if it's a lav going into trs) you're going to get that cause the camera is using more power causing interference. Most likely won't be able to get rid of it. An option would be to set up lav receiver separately from your mixer. Throwing extra lav on minister, and only having that lav set up for the live stream. All other lavs would be going to your mixer to prevent you from having any bad audio in your mixer.

      I found it was not the case with ALL recorders and mixers though. I would just tell people to try out the combo they plan on using to make sure they play nice. Bummer though and why I wish companies focused on better shielding and higher quality audio inputs. Mini XLR anyone?

    Thank you for this review. Any update on the audio buzz? Did you try it with different cameras? As for your HDMI cable issue, you might be well served by getting a male to male HDMI adapter and a thin/flexible short HDMI cable that will connect from the longer run (heavy) cable to the top of the box. Barring that, you should look into fiber HDMI cables, which are super slim and can run longer than typical copper with less signal loss (100m, I believe). Are you getting tripod shake when you attach the Yolobox to the top of the camera and do your switching? I would imagine that if you're using a long lens, you're going to 'see' every keypress.

      I’m certain the buzz is voltage issue that causes the interference. Additionally, it only happens when the record button is pushed and not on all cameras.
      We actually use wireless hdmi as shown or with the system mounted don camera but we figured we would show it the way many filmmakers may use it without the systems we have. The YoloBox comes with a cold shoe mount so we used it. Not recommended but it can be done. I prefer a magic arm with a super clap attached to the tripod.

    Since the master camera is so often set at max height on the tripod, it might make sense to just mount this monitor on the tripod leg using an articulating arm, such that the monitor is lower than the camera and at a more ideal height for tapping the screen. Added benefit would be that any handling of the Yolobox during the live stream wont introduce shake into the cam since it's now mounted to the tripod leg, not the camera. Plus the cables will now go uphill toward the camera, instead of into the air and back down.

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool  2 года назад

      That’s what we actually do. We actually run it off a table/case we built. Eather way, we wanted to show how it was intended on being used by the manufacturer, as l they included a cold shoe mount… but yes. This is the way.

    I mount the Yolo box on the tripod upside down so the cables are not plugged in to the top. You can flip the screen in the menu.

    They make right angle HDMI extensions M to F. No more wires sticking up. The orientation of the HDMI ports makes sense for productions where the YoloBox is lying flat or in one of the third party racks made for it.

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool  2 года назад

      Yes. But for wedding filmmaking where many will be using it on camera it’s not ideal. We have a rack for the unit we use personally but we wanted to show how MOST wedding filmmakers will use the device out of the box with provided hardware (YoloBox provides a cold shoe mini ball head).

    Great review/info Jason! I have a few questions though:
    1. What about cameras like the Canon R5 and R6 that don't allow recording to a card when in HDMI mode, unless you switch to the mode where you can record but don't have a screen view?
    2. Did you use long HDMI cables, or did you use knockoff teradek video recorder/transmitter combos?
    3.What if you shoot log for the film, but want good colors on the stream?
    4. Can I get clean signals from all inputs in a recording through the YoloBox Pro as well as the live-cut stream?
    5. Could I re-cut the Livestream on post so that I don't have as much work in post synchronizing and coloring Ceremony/Toast films?
    6: How could I get audio if the only mics used were tascam dr-10Ls or similar and there weren't any DJ supplied mics through the board?

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool  2 года назад

      1. Weird. Why would they have that setting? Not sure though.
      2. Long cables + Real Teradek Ace 500
      3. Some cameras allow for a LUT to be applied to the HDMI only.
      4. You cannot record each input as an ISO, like the ATEM Mini Pro ISO
      5. Because you cannot record isos it doesn’t not create a project file like the ATEM Mini Pro ISO does, which creates a file that can be opened directly in resolve.
      6. A DR10 is not useful in a live streaming setting at all. You have to get a lav that has a transmitter and receiver or use a license e feed from the sound system.

      Meh. Not worth it for the way the tool is suppose to work. Our workflow was designed to mimic the typical workflow of a avg wedding filmmaker with little to no knowledge of live sound or sound recording. I think using a extra peripheral to get clean audio is a bridge to far for most filmmakers.
