As a southeast Asian (Cambodian) who has Teochew Chinese roots as well, this movie hits home hard. My ahma and agong are exactly like the movie portrayed. This movie touched my heart. It made me weep and almost scream because my head hurts from crying so hard. I only have one Ahma left, my other 3 grandparents have passed away. Thinking about the only ahma I have left throughout the whole movie.😢😢
Much loves to you ❤️ I am same in New Zealand. Agong passed 40 years ago and Ahma just 5 years ago. Made me be grateful to my family and also forgiving myself more as well. I went through half a box of tissues and shared it to my neighbour, audibly scream when they had the moving out footage
It was a movie that made me weep and cry so much. It’s definitely worth watching it
To me, the main character did end up making millions "memories" before grandma died.
I would not be surprised if the movie does make a lot of money in the west.
