- Every year, dozens of events around the country celebrate special events by designing and using special postmarks. In this video, I discuss what these are and how you can get them yourself.

Between 2000 and 2008, I designed and drew at least 13 pictorial postmarks for various small town festivals and such in northeast Texas. It was a lot of fun and one design was even put on tee shirts to wear in the town parade.
Good quality video. It is educational and entertaining. Thanks for promoting the hobby!
You covered quite a bit in 10 minutes without it feeling like you were not being thorough. I love slogan, event and pictorial cancels, it makes buying covers fun! I've found some from really small town event cancels like a family reunion, church picnic, 100th anniversary of a little courthouse, etc.
Anyway, another awesome video Brian!
Really glad you covered the process and options for getting pictorial postmarks through the mail! I had been interested in getting them but finding information that was clear about how to do so was surprisingly hard to come by. Thank you!
Such a well made and interesting episode. I am yet to mail a cover to the usps fulfillment center, something I must do soon.
Your video was so interesting and helpful! The hand drawn Ben was so lifelike 😂 Well done!
This episode is sooo good. What a great comprehensive overview of picture postmarks! I have never seen a digital color postmark before ... they are beautiful. Now I will look for them! Thanks for the video (PS your video quality is on point! 👌)
Thanks I learn so much watching your videos. They are informative and interesting. Keep the up, please.
Great topic and the commentary is (as the young folks say) off the chain...
lolz on Washington looking like a runway model ... making Martha swoon for sure :)
Great Explanation of the pictorial postmark, thank you, Brian.
I would love to try. I think they accept the request from oversea? Oh, I need some American stamps for the postage first.😂
Thanks for the info! Just sent away for some of my very first pictorial postmarks!
Excellent episode. I have collected pictorial postmarks off and on since the Bicentennial Era, so close to 50 years now. If you also collect such cancellations from other countries (Germany, in particular, has been doing them for a very long time), it might make for a great follow-up episode.
Cheers from Thailand!
I have sent for First Day Covers to USPS with the latest stamps. By using a larger envelope to include the envelope to be stamped "'First Day of Issue" (or just a pictorial postmark like this video) you can get more canceled stamps for your Stamp Album if you collect stamps that way too. I bought #6 for the First Day Issue or pictorial postmark to slip into a #9 envelope self addressed to myself, and then including it in a #10 envelope to send to USPS. That works well. Great video.
Hmm I got an elf postmark from a Christmas mail (That's how I found out about pictorial postmark). But when checking the postal bulletin it didn't have it at all.
Very Cool!
Nice video. I really love cancels
My little town of Apollo Pa had our very own special postmark of an astronaut for the 50th anniversary of the moon landing in 2019. It s really cool.
Dare I say - I want a George Washington body? LMAO
Hahahahahha
You said what we were all thinking 😂
Touché... 😅😂😊
I'm trying to write everyplace in California. Some of the places I wrote to for pictorial postmarks, told me window was closed, not returned or wrong cancel. I enjoy sending postcards and old unmailed cachets making something new out of old. Great info.
Yeah, I get the same problems more often than I’d like. I guess that a lot of these postal workers have never run a pictorial postmark before, so the rate of mistakes is higher than for other things.
great I have 13,000 of them picture cancellation
