The Rosario islands Colombia are a slice of paradise just off the coast of Cartagena. We stayed on Isla Grande and spent two days exploring the entire island on foot, utilising the footpaths that extend round the entire island perimeter.
In this video we take you on a walking tour and show you the best beaches, resorts and places of natural beauty that Islas del Rosario have to offer!
Can you stay on the Rosario islands? Yes! We stayed at Hotel COCOLISO Islas del Rosario and it was stunning
How do you get to the Rosario Islands? It’s a 45 min speedboat ride from the docks in Cartagena which leave daily and only cost £15 for a return trip
What is the best beach on Isla Grande? We loved Gente de Mar Islas del Rosario, but all the beaches are pristine and Playa Cristal and Playa Libre are also lovely.
What can you do in the Rosario Islands?
You can also walk to ORIKA village and take in the laid back lifestyle of the islanders, visit The enchanted lagoon and have fun snorkelling in the crystal waters. You can visit the casa de Pablo Escobar, enjoy awesome cocktails in the many resorts and spot the varied local wildlife such as Iguanas, bats, and so many gorgeous species of birds.

Looks fabulous, well jell! The dirt tracks looked a brilliant way to get about and 30 degrees sounds nice we are waiting on 2 days of storms in the UK starting tomorrow with 80mph gusts. All the beaches looked stunning to me but I can see why the last one was your favourite. Hi there Cristy, thanks for messaging x yes it’s totally safe walking around the island …. The boat we took landed at hotel COCOLISO resort, but at the port in Cartagena they will ask you what part of the island you want and will direct you to the right boat 😁

What time do they return boats leave? We can’t find any info on that? We want to leave early in the morning agreed starting 2 nights. Is this possible?
Hey Elsie, we caught the returning boat that leaves from COCOLISO resort … if you msg the hotel they can let you know what time the boats leave on that day and you can pre book a ticket x I think ours was 4pm

Nice! - When you show up to these beach side resorts, do they charge you a daily fee just to enjoy the beach for a few hours? - Like, if I just want to spend 2 hours at Gente de Mar, is there is a daily access fee? Or do I have to book a stay at that specific resort or area?

Hi! We used an app called The Hiiker app 😁 but also it’s pretty much one big looped trail around the perimeter so you can’t go too wrong x also the locals are really helpful if you just ask them x have a great trip!

Let me tell you I went to the cocotera beach because of this video and it’s totally disappointing, the beach is super small, smells so bad because of the boats coming,
The water is not blue, it’s not nice for swimming, the food is not good, everything is dirty.
I would say don’t believe in everything you see in this videos..

We visited in February ….. all the videos are taken just on my iPhone so I haven’t faked anything??? Why would I have reason to do that? … when we went, it wasn’t dirty or smelly and the sea was wonderful
Maybe you visited in peak season and too many visitors had ruined it?
Looks like a great place but I think slap on some more sun tan lotion as a couple of lobsters 🦞 came to mind
