I dunno what it is about you second Gen Camaro guys, but you have no fear.

LOL, When I first bought the car years ago, I spent more time staring at the rust and reading through the NastyZ28 forum than working on it. One day I had enough and I walked out to the garage and cut both quarter panels off. The fear went out the window after that.

I think you did a great job removing that. Some damage is unavoidable when it comes to these layers of metal.

Thanks Russ! I'm always wondering to myself "How do the professionals do it" when I'm struggling with things like this! Merry Christmas

I know this vid is older, but a pneumatic belt sander is a great tool for making quick work of spot weld, even in tight spots.
    Love this video series
My Dad had a 73 Z28, always liked these cars!

Thank you! I'm hoping the other side goes a little smoother on the removal now that I have one under my belt.

Thanks Dave! They put up a fight for sure. We'll see how the other side goes now that I have a better idea of how everything is attached.

Hi Dan just got 71 camaro torque box and frame rails are badly rusted plus trunk pan too so I have already cut and removed the floor pan and removed driver side torque box so like to know should I install torque box first then the frame?or frame rail trunk pan then torque box?

Hi mumu agha, I'm not sure if you mean you removed the floor pans of the car, or the trunk pan, or both. Either way, the frame rails overlap the torque boxes so I'd install the torque boxes first and then the frame rails. If you removed the floor pan, I'd install the floor pan and torque box, then tackle the frame rails and trunk pan. You can use self tapping sheet metal screws to mock everything up before you commit to welding it, meaning you could install the torque box, frame rails, and floor pans with self tappers. Then once you are happy with everything, you can remove the frame rails and plug weld the torque boxes, then install the frame rails again and plug weld those. Hope that helps.

@@RestoCar thx for the quick reply😁.i meant I have only removed the driver side floor pan and torque box and I did some marking the hight and length where the torque box was before so I can put back in same place.so you are saying i.should install floor pan first then torque box?my plan was to finish one side then I will go with other side.what do u recommend should I install complete floor pan? Will it be easy to install ?and what make is better?
