In RI now and I miss western MA soooooo much! Lived all over the pioneer valley for 40 years and your vid did my heart good to see many of my old haunts. All the goodies from Atkins just hit me hard and I cried...lolol. Mohawk Trail. Shelburne Falls, The high and low roads to Greenfield, and all the mountains I drive to the top. RI is nice....but it's no Western MA.

I agree. I love the mountains. I moved to NC for 20 years, then south Florida for 1 before coming back to RI myself. Nothing like autumn in New England, but it's too short of a season compared to the smokey mountains. New England is home, and would sure like to live in the hills one day. I lived at the beach for a year. Rural mountains is next, hopefully. And yes, I stop at Atkins everytime I go.

I was on kinda a time limit. Only had one day and it's a 2 1/2 hr drive from my house. Hoping to go camping out that way this summer, if work schedule allows....

Hoping this year is just as beautiful. Last autumn, colors were late and dropped quickly.

If they're not really mountains, what are they? Some route details would be nice. While you were in Dalton, although not its location, you could've traveled a little further and went up to Mount Greylock, in Adams, It's the tallest peak in the Common Wealth of Mass. A great video though of the colors, truly.

@@ScottHervieuxOutdoors i believe you are mistaken. they are called the Taconic mountains, and once you leave north adams and enter Clarksburg, Vermont the Appalachin range is called the Green mountains, in new hampshire they are called the White mountains, the new york side that runs along the Taconic mountains and as you go north through upstate are the Adirondacks. All these mountains is part of the Appalachin trail, Georgia to Maine.

When I was in school, they were cAlled "the hills of Massachusetts ". I forget how many feet above sea level it had to be, to be called a mountain- but was taught the appalachians barely qualified. People out west laugh at us calling them mountains, and claim (due to height) real mountains are west of the Mississippi.
Ih and Pluto was a planet. Or is it a planet again. Excuse my public school education.

@@ScottHervieuxOutdoors there is a nickname some people call them the Taconic hills, i can see the confusion, i believe its around 1,000 ft to be a mountain.
i believe the Taconic range is 2,000 + ft
i believe Pluto has the down graded name of Dwarf planet.

Cummington, being in Hampshire County, is not technically in the Berkshires.
