Mr. Grundy is an absolute treasure!!! Thank you Keith and Ron for everything you do.
Nice to see another submarine veteran. There weren’t that many of us that were willing to volunteer for sub duty.
This is the best part of RUclips, where the old masters get one last chance to share their expertise. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes on the restoration.
Thanks Kieth for the exchange and assistance in getting Ron’s progress uploaded and received to RUclips. Thanks to Ron a national treasure for getting this craftsmanship artistry in to the community.
Thank you Keith and Ron!
Thanks Ron and Keith.
Ron is certainly the real deal.
I can tell he is very passionate about restoration of these old machines.
Thanks for sharing. 👍
pleasure to listen to a fellow submariner showing his brilliance.
Ron is gold. His explanation made me feel that even I could restore one of these. What an easy going fellow that I hope lives another 20 years. God bless him.
I could listen to this guy all day
That is A LOT of great work into a great machine. Looking really good.
beauty of a machine, Ron, Who wouldn't want a 1H in their basement
Me, I want it out in my shop, it’s just an outbuilding but that’s where I do my fun stuff. Lol Besides, it’s easier to get in and out of.
That would be a perfect size for a smaller home shop, and it’s going to be just like new.
Ron is awesome. I had some trouble with my 2k and needed it to get a job done. He was able to help me get the machine back running.
Ron has probably forgotten more about machine rebuilding than someone like me will ever learn. I wish I had a time machine so I could go back 20 years and start learning then!
Thanks Ron! I sure would love more videos from you on the in's and outs of repairing/refurbishing these machines.
Great information - even if I will never own a K&T. What I really enjoy is that 'old timers' still take pride in their work and resulting top class products that they were instrumental in delivering. Thanks Ron.
We just don't have such Great and Learned machinist and those with such knowledge like this anymore. As a fellow Machinist thanks Keith and Ron you are suburb.
Thanks Keith and Ron for sharing your knowledge.
Ron has a lot of intellectual capital stored in his active and capable brain.
The test bar seems to be the key for checking these kinds of mills.
Great video. Please pass along our thanks to Mr. Grundy.
Thanks to Mr. Grundy for the insights
All in one take! Leaving the incredible work aside that's impressive in its own. 👍
I love old machines. I have a Sheldon lathe made in the early 40s. I have a Hindi lathe Not sure of the age yet. Love what you are doing.
Thanks for sharing. I hope the museum troubles get resolved.
There are not a lot of horizontal mills around any more. Nothing better for saws. Just seems the old fellas like us have them. What a great post Keith. Not hard but time consuming for sure eh. After all are we not bang on as we should be ? I sure enjoyed this, great fella !
Thanks Ron and Keith. I have a K&T 1A it’s a decent old machine I can’t seam to find much information on. Of course it started its life as a flat belt machine and been converted to electric motor.
Greetings, Ron, from another old submariner. --YNCS(SS), USN (Ret)
We had a bunch of those where I worked at textron at thomasville ga,backing the 90's then the cnc took over.
Thank you for sharing.👍
Look how amazing that scraping looks! And all done by hand. Impressive what 30 years of practice can do.
So very interesting!
Hella lot of knowledge, great stuff!
I hope that beautiful little machine gets a job somewhere rather than mouldering in a museum. Or the museum is a teaching/making concern where the machine is actually put to good use. Your exceptional expertise is uncommon, and valued.
I've learnt so much from these channels that i learn less each time. Exactly how it should be!
But he just caught a gap in my learning. before fitting gibb strips they too need to be scraped flat.
Damn dude your 82 and still deep in engineering, if I get to 82 I know that no matter my level I'll be into engineering one way or another. Besides I'm 41 and your 82 and the grim reaper ain't "ageist" at all. He could get me in 6 months and your still spritely for the next 11 years.
Ron Grundy needs a RUclips channel as well.
Ron is an encyclopedia of info on these machines!
This young shipper snapper is going to finish this museum quality restoration easily.
Nice work Ron, and thank you for the explanation your experience and expertise is valuable to people who are interested in these machines.
Gib is my favorite word that it's hard for me to believe is actually a word.
Wonderful gentlemen.
Good info you can’t get anywhere else. Thanks!
Your subscriber from Philippines. Many thanks for sharing Keith.
Funny you brought this model machine up in your video, I actually have two of them! Got them out of a machine shop in Rochester NY and have had them for the last 5 or 6 years! The one I use quite often, but the other one just sits there beside the first! They both run, just do not use it! If you're interested in pictures or serial numbers, let me know! I would not part with the one I use, but if anyone is interested in the second one, I could be persuaded to part with it!
Hi @frednewnan2162, I’m interested to learn more about the k&t machine you mentioned, what’s your preferred method of contact?
Thanykou, Keith. Thankyou, Ron.
Thanks Ron!
I dream of owning one of these bad boys
Excellent stuff!
Thank you Ron. This is a really helpful vido.
Thanks for the video.
I forgot! Checked and repair the waylube system. I had the boring job of PM'S
awesome👍👍👍👍
Ron, you have a nice shop, I’m almost envious. Thanks for sharing.

Ah, NATO
No Action Talk Only video.
I thought he wanted to defund the FBI?
I hate people who think that they are better then other people. I know people that rebuild those machines as spanking new. Dont say other people dont go that far. You will be amazed how many people there are that do the same even a better job then you do grandpa.
what an ass!
Don't take it too personally.
It was more of a precaution that this is a very tedious and laborious job that some may be tempted to start, but not finish.
@@MAACotton i hope so
Great video thanks for sharing
