*NOT ONLY* did Skenes pitch 6 no hit innings with 11 strikeouts, but the baserunner he allowed on a walk SHOULD have been a strikeout! One of the "balls" caught a piece of the lower strike zone. This dude is a space alien.
I think they're FINALLY going to spend the $$ to build. No more selling off Gerrit Coles, Tyler Glasnows ect. ect. If they pay Jones and Skenes and find some hitters they will contend. Go Buccos.
The joy with which Paul Skenes plays and takes his place on the mound, makes him extra fun to watch. Love his incentive of donating a $ 100 for every strikeout. Excellent example of a great and humble player on the rise. Let’s bring that family feeling back to Pittsburgh.
It Looks like Bob Nutting May have a Future Problem on His Hands...If This Kid is as Good as Everyone Projects Him To Be....He, Paul Skenes Will Demand The Largest Contract in the History Of Baseball.........Bob, If You are Faced With this Situation, Take the Advice if Michael Keaton and WRITE THE CHECK!
I just wanna say that I am 34 years old and my city of Pittsburgh has NEVER had a chance to see great basketball. They always sell us short and break our hearts. Bob Nutting is THE WORST OWNER IN MAJOR LEAGUE SPORTS EVER and if he trades Skenes, he should be forced to sell the team and NEVER SHOW HIS HILL-BILLY face in this CITY OF CHAMPIONS ever again. We deserve to have a team worth supporting and having a team worthy of that beautiful stadium. WE DESERVE IT PITTSBURGH. NEVER DOUBT IT.
Gen X response (older than you). I would recommend editing your post from "never" to "not recently." It might be easy for people to forget that the Pirates used to be a very different type of organization, winning the 1979 World Series, 1971, 1960. I'd say that Willie Stargell and Roberto Clemente qualify as great, with Clemente on a special tier of greatness. I'm not old enough to have seen Clemente play live, but my father did watch Clemente play. The Pirates have a rich tradition that includes great baseball, but admittedly, before, you were old enough to watch the games live. By the time I was old enough (1980s) as a young child, the champion players of the 1970s were aging and past their primes. They had one last pennant chase in 1983. To borrow from a country song they weren't as good as they once were but, well, they had their moments. I was at the last Stargell game when I was a child. Sadly, people your age have not had the experience of great players in the Pirate uniforms until now (if Skenes stays healthy, he has the looks of a great pitcher). Even Bonds was before your time and he had an ugly exit, he's more associated with San Francisco. Prime McCuthen was good - even very good at his best in the 2012-2015 era - but not greatness. Something short of the Al Oliver-type tradition (Oliver was very, very good, but greatness is a special category).
I'd kill to see Pop's play, too bad he was before my time. Honestly, I wish I could see the Bucs win a WS in Cutch's last season with Jones, Keller, and Skenes but it's only a hope and a prayer on my part. It would be something great to see in my lifetime. Granted Pittsburgh has had great players from the day and great history makers as well. But if my wish happened, it would be something great for my generation at least. But it may not.@@billkerns9258
By the way, I find the Hillbilly remark a bit unnecessary. My family came from Pittsburgh to VA in the 70s and some of my family members who lived through the First World War to WWII were considered "Hillbilly." Agricultural Folk, Farmers, etc. They are what we Southerners would call Country, Redneck (because they would be working outside all day long the back of their necks would get red), or Hillbilly. Yes, they played Guitar, Mandolin, and Banjo. They were also Russian and Polish immigrants who came over the boat in the 1890s to the very early 1900s. So yes, Western Pennsylvania has its fair share of "Hillbillies" too.
Don't forget Houston, or San Fran! Maybe the Red Sox. Braves would love to have him on their roster. Shoot, let's just give him to a rival team in the division! Then the Pirates can move on, and invest in bums that will guarantee finishing last or next to last every year because the front office throws away any chance to bring a championship to Pittsburgh.
A challenge to Pirates and Cubs fans = from a Reds fan . The Reds are better this year than Philly as we already beat them in the season series . Will the Cubs and the Bucs be better than the old Philly geysers and win the season series against them this year ? I know the Phillies are the Pirates' biggest rival , and i hope Skenes pitches a no hitter at them and strikes out that Jagoff Bryce Harper 4 times !
I will never buy a Skenes jersey because he will never stay with this loser mentality of a baseball organization. I’m done spending any of my Pennie’s on this hack team.

Home plate umpire did a terrible job. Called cutch, suwinski and Reynolds out on strikes on pitches that were clearly balls...
💯 the ump sucked ass. In fact he made Skenes pitch so many extra pitches that he may have even gotten to pitch a complete game instead of 6.
@@rags15061 totally agree however I feel it's appropriate to clarify that he sucked male ass...
Easy to say when you're at home watching the little strike zone box on the screen lol
@@ChildOfThe1970s umpires are human but the guy was way off...
The only thing hurting the pirates is ownership
Yup
Andy Haines still needs to go.

The curse of Bob Nutting
@rico_wizard The ol operation shutdown.
Joe Block on the radio call was electric.
Im so happy for this young man!
Hats of to the bats for backing him up!

Wow, what a start feom Paul Skenes! No hits, 11 strikeouts, wow
Skenes gives me hope
Nutting will probably just take it away
GG Pirates. Skenes is filthy
I haven't seen an arm like this since Randy Johnson.
He is special
I sure hope we actually keep Skenes and pay him when we need to
Hope springs eternal

Mark Cuban lets go

Sadly that probably won't happen if Pirates history tells us anything.
the GAS STATION!!
Maybe my $149 investment in the MLB package wasn’t a bad choice after all. This kid is lights out!
No entendí porque no dejaron al abridor llevaba juego sin hits ni carreras
CRUZ is definitely the next Ozzy Smith!

How cool would it be if you didn’t have so many spoilers.

Well yeah Pittsburgh never seen great basketball since they don't have a professional team.

@@SOLDIER_Class1_Avi Very good point. Thank you for saying it.
Going to enjoy seeing Skenes throw a perfect game for the Yanks or Dodgers in 2 years
It will probably happen but I won't enjoy it. Pirates need to pay him big time money to keep him in the black and gold.

I wish that PIT announcer would stop screaming. It conveys zero enthusiasm to the listener of the broadcast. In fact, it's irritating.
There's been nothing to scream about in Pittsburgh for a LONG ass time. Let us SCREAM in peace.
