- Hi guys! In today's video, I talk you through how I go about fixing my lighting in the current PBR update in Firestorm. Whilst I am hoping that these issues are resolved in a future update, for now this is the best solution I was able to come up with. Additionally, here are some other useful links:

Amazing! Thank you so much. I was driving myself crazy trying to make my old setups work for my vendor ads. I miss the Advanced Lighting Model button lol
Aw haha my pleasure! Glad i was able to help 😄 and ikr, it's definitely a big change!
This is such a HUGE help, thank you. As a model and blogger I was panicking my photographs would never look the same. Thank you for this tutorial. I would love to see your video on Black Dragon, as I have heard it is better for photographs but never used it!
Thank you cuz when I opened the updated version, I was shook by the brightness.
@@brownbeauty7429 haha yes it was a bit crazy 🤣 you're welcome!! 🩷
Wow! This was SO freakin' helpful! Thank you, very much! I'm definitely subbing and ringing that bell. Looking forward to your upcoming tutorials, for sure!
@@KittenSinclair awh, thank you so much! I'm so glad you found it helpful 😁🩷
Thanks! I needed to know about the new lighting system so much
Aww haha my pleasure! Thanks for watching and i hope it helped 🩷🩷
omg this helped me so much, before i was struggling to load in and now it's working!
THANK YOU!!!! My projector lights have been giving me so much trouble lately I do interior decor and I had forgotten where the setting was. I kept getting so mad that my projectors weren't working. (I do like to show off lol)
Aw haha i totally feel you! It can be such a pain when it's one tiny setting somewhere and you can't remember where. I'm glad i was able to help! 🩷
My whites are still way too bright. On clothes, especially. You really can't see details anymore, just this overwhelming almost glowing white. This is making me choose not to wear any of my white clothes which seems like such a waste of linden. Can you help with that? Or is that a bug?
Thank you for this.
For some time now I've been noticing that when I zoom in on the camera the lighting gets brighter, and when I zoom out it gets dimmer. Does anyone know how to turn this off?
@@rR21hrs hiii! I uploaded a windlight to my marketplace that fixes it. It has to do with PBR lighting unfortunately. It's a dollarbie, i hope that helps!
yes very much I do very downscaled editing on my sim and this has now made it almost impossible as i not sure what is what
It's definitely a challenge! But hopefully with the tips in the video you can kind of go back to editing as you did before 🩷
I really don't need mirrors and the poor performance, grey textures and Over bright c=scenes with washed out colours. It really would help if your platform had a normal street scene that wasn't all high key and white in the first place.
As is, I am avoiding PBR as long as I can, to let them properly de-bug the viewer, as is it is unusable for Dance shows where we need a high frame rate.
@@angel-heaven i understand your concerns completely, but as said in the video, there are performance changes you can make to improve your experience in the new pbr environment. I also have a windlight on my marketplace that largely reduces the glare from bright backdrops which is linked in the video description, so i would recommend checking that out.
Additionally, as mentioned in the video, if you want to turn mirrors off, you can, and your performance should improve. 😊
Can I have a link to the windlight on MK please?
@@angel-heaven it's linked in the video description ☺️ here: marketplace.secondlife.com/p/WARETA-PBR-Windlight-2024-Add/26152414
Get on the Firestorm beta...most has been fixed.
@@LeeKeels yehh, but yeh, but NO.. ….Beta. Crash city, will wait for the stable version, which in SL is not a true statement I know.
The Mirror Update Rate is incorrect. Every 4th frame is lower quality than every 2nd frame. It's the ratio at which mirrors are updated, versus the frames on your viewer. If you are running at 100fps on the viewer, but you have every 2nd frame on mirrors, the mirrors will update at a rate of 50fps. On the other hand, if you update mirrors on every 4th frame, then mirrors will be running at 25fps equivalent, making it much easier on your computer. Keep in mind this is tied directly to viewer frames, so if you're in a laggy sim and getting 20fps, then you'd get 5fps mirrors running on every 4th frame.
@@MiniDevilDF funnily enough, i was a bit confused about the every 4th frame thing too even as i was saying it. I got the info from inara'd tutorial so i guess she mistyped it or something. Maybe it's been corrected by now already even! Thanks for pointing that out ^^
i am not updating as i cant turn of the lights anymore in the new viewer, I see spotlight even even when I have turned everything off.
Exposure is entirely dependant on how you calibrated your monitor. What you are showing people is akin to using a spirit level on a boat.Loading an image of a test card set full bright and adjusting the brightness on your monitor till you get a decent black and white level first may help if u dont want to spring for a color munki
Where do you shop? I can't find anything asian style that isn't asian American
That's a great question! I shop mostly at amitomo and then all the stores on the cheezu sim 🩷 so stores like dami, v.c.lab, etc... and then also on the fendudu sim and surrounding stores! I hope that helps! 🩷
The ONLY change you needed to make was your exposure setting. No need to change EEPs or anything else. It's right there in the graphics settings, main page..."Exposure"...problems solved.
Turn mirrors off guys. The real problem is. None of the textures in SL are PBR right now. There is absolutely no reason to use mirrors at this time. No reason to mess around with all this stuff like she is doing. Turn exposure down, mirrors off, simple.
This video is for all different kinds of people. Bloggers, roleplayers, etc. and they enjoy using mirrors. If you watch the whole video, you'll see i go over turning off mirrors if you are experiencing performance issues
Also, ALWAYS stay in shared environment unless you are shooting a photo. When you change EEPs, first only you see it, and second you override what the region designer wanted you to see, and it's rude. If I could forcibly eject people not in shared environment, I happily would do so.
She's is soo cute 😍
@@wickedkitty618 awh thank you! 🩷🩷
My viewer is messed up now after update
Aw hon i'm sorry. Have you tried resetting your preferences and then just working from the ground up in your preferences panel?
Can I ask where your ears and tails are from?
sure! the ears are Hazel - Fox Ears (Size 1) and the tail is Sweet Thing - Fuwa Tail (XS) ♥
@@waretaSL Thankyou so much! Awesome and amazing video! Thankyou for putting this out there.
@@Unfazed_Kitten aww haha no problem at all!! Glad you enjoyed the video 🩷😁
that explained to me absolutely nothing. and the link to the other video isnt linked anywhere
@@RaeLynnRavenhurst it isn't a video, it's a written tutorial. Maybe you should rewatch the video 🩷
It's horrible!!
I'm taling about the change on FS. Your video it's excellent. Thank you for the information and your explanation. You're very helpful!!
haha awh no problem at all! Thanks for clarifying btw, i was worried there for a sec! 😰
@@waretaSL I'm so sorry!!😒
@@dilizabethguzman5044 haha no worries, happens to everyone! 🩷
fake thumb, it doesn't easy like u showed on thumbnail image, and why this much long 20min video, can u explain in shorter length with main highlight points of how to fix dark lighting to normal regular lighting
@@roopartslive the thumbnail is not fake. These are raw inworld shots i took before and after fixing the lighting as showed in the video. Did you watch the video? It's that length for a reason, because i explained it in as easy to understand a way as possible so that as many people as possible can follow along. I suggest rewatching the video if you didn't understand and then asking a specific question if you need help with something.
