Me too. The only other jean I wear were flare when I was 12, but now at 29. It's all I wear. I have too much hips and I feel like skinny jeans aren't flattering. I feel like penguin from batman.
Hi Gemma - Bravo, well said in your response to that 'particular' comment & a proper lady would never publicly humiliate another or 'Throw Shade' on a person; I agree with You - The whole world wears jeans, even the Crown Prince Federick & Crown Princess Mary of Denmark wears jeans, so does Queen Letizia of Spain ; yes , so does Catherine - Duchess of Cambridge wears nurmerous types of jeans , very stylish too !!
My 87 year old, very proper mother wears jeans. I'm not a fan of shredded jeans, but jeans can go just about anywhere when well styled and accessorized.
Jeans are so versatile, and can be classy with the right top,but always dark wash and not skinny. I’m 74 and love my jeans, I also love cream and black jeans.
I don't know what being "well to do" (whatever that means) has to do with fashion. You can be stylish at any price. I guess if you want to give the appearance of being rich there might be some items that would accomplish that more readily, but jeans are now universally loved by all ages and types of people! Love bootcut jeans, just bought myself a gorgeous pair from Levi's and posted on my Instagram. They were only $35 CAD too at Winners, which is bonus :)
I don't think jeans have anything to do with your age or status. You just wear what you feel good in and when you feel beautiful, your expression and body transmits that feeling. Wear what you want to wear.
These CLASSIC looks are never boring.... and your personal iterations and examples are all ELEGANT, not fussy, cheap or overdone. I cut and paste a lot of your suggestions for future inspiration. Thanks for all the work you do to help us all out!
I think some women would have a very difficult time finding jeans to fit and look nice. We should all wear what makes us feel pretty and stylish. I will say though, there are times I’ve seen women in “pants” and thought to myself “She should’ve chosen something else to wear”. I don’t think I’m particularly hard to fit but it takes me forever to find a proper fitting jean and even then, I have to have them shortened. That’s why there are so so many jean companies out there. Love your vids. You give such great suggestions and color combinations for us to try.
Of course a well to do lady can wear jeans if done classy and not sloppily. Duchess Kate Middleton shows how it's done..beautifully. Completely disagree with the ladies comment. LOVE all the styles shown. ❤️
Boot cut Jean is so flattering on a long leg, I don’t have many boot cut, i will need to find a good one. I think jeans are for everyone. Love your video as usual it’s so inspiring 🙏🙏
I didn't know they left! I always feel thinner and taller in my bootcuts. May I suggest you put a more pointy toed shoe on with your boot cuts? I think the thick almond and round shaped toes don't look half as good as a shoe with a good point.
Jeans are a practical staple of most people’s lives. Wear them if you like them. I’m not one too follow trends. I didn’t know the white shirt under a black sweater was out! Well at least not for me. As far as bootcut jeans, I have been looking to purchase a pair or two. Two, yes, as much as I love bootcuts they are harder to style with shoes. So, I buy one pair and have hemmed for flatter heels and have one a length for higher heels. Once again, your examples are so helpful.
I see no problem with a "well-to-do" lady wearing jeans. That seems like a very narrow-minded point of view. As long as the occasion calls for it, I think jeans can be quite lovely.
Agree. It's your personality and your sense of style making you a lady, not some old fashioned views on what to wear or not. You'll look gorgeous with jeans, which you can style casual or poshy.
Love these ideas and love my boot cut jeans! I’ve been wealthy and at other times struggling in my past. It’s all about confidence, loving yourself, feeling good on the inside and letting that radiate out. LOVE your channel. ♥️✨
I am not a huge fan of jeans either, but I wear them because they are in style now. When I need to be well dressed, I do not wear them. I do prefer trousers. But in the last few years I have been trying out different styles and makes of jeans so that I now have a huge collection of jeans. However, for years, I thought they were too stiff, hard and unyielding, which is one reason I stopped wearing them. I use to wear Landlubbers and A-Smile jeans which were soft and so comfortable they felt like pajamas, but both companies went out of business. I wore jeans a lot in college. After I graduated, I got a professional job and never wore them again because of their uncomfortable stiffness. Now that I am retired at 66 years of age, I try to incorporate them here and there. You can now get really nice soft jeans, so I am happy for that. I have seen Kate Middleton wear them, where appropriate. I just got that H&M boot cut jeans you recommended, they fit nice and soft and are so stretchy and comfortable. Thank you for that recommendation. I love my Target black jeans the best and wear them often. I also have a pair of white jeans from Nordstrom that are overly stretchy, so I don't wear them that much, as they look baggy and about to fall off, I should have bought a size smaller. LOL ;-)
I love your classic outfits, they’re not a bit boring, but are classy and chic. I buy all my new items, including trends, from the classic side of the spectrum, and wear them forever. Your “older” items look just as great as your newer.
I love jeans, women of all ages wear them and look very attractive and "put together," depending on the cut that looks best for them. Your outfit ideas are well-received!
A couple of the pictures actually feature flared jeans, which are narrow on the upper leg and then flare out towards the ankle. Bootcut jeans are generally a straighter line down the leg. I'm glad that you are venturing out into other styles of jeans.
Love bootcut jeans. You are such a classy lady, love the way you handled the negative comment. Any woman can wear jeans in a casual environment and look classy, your style is just that.
You have really convinced me about the power of the bootcut jean. The fact that models are wearing them - with their legs up to here and slim builds - that's enough for me. They are super flattering and elevate an outfit. I agree about jeans as well. If the future Queen of the Commonwealth wears them so can we.
I love the flared and boot cut jeans the most, but especially the boho / bohemian flare, the non flared jeans are ok. I get my jeans and other clothes from American Eagle, and I love it.
Lovely video, thank you! I've always had a few pairs of bootcut jeans and trousers in my wardrobe. They are so flattering, I loved them many decades ago and still do. Besides, they've never totally been out of fashion. I loved them as a student especially with white or dark shirts, tshirts, belts, dark woollen jumpers, peacoats (caban), trench or winter coats. So happy they are back everywhere now :)
Hello, Gemma! Regarding to the comment you showed at the end of the video, I have to say my opinion is a little split. I think jeans are a very tricky piece to wear. I think they mainly look good on slim people, especially when the shirt is tucked in. I have a bit of a tummy so I don’t feel comfortable wearing them because I find they don’t flatter me at all. I much prefer to wear knee length dresses and skirts. They look good on almost everyone, they look super chic and feminine, and they are more discreet than a pair of jeans. If I were slim I would totally wear jeans of all kind, but as I am a medium size with a little tummy, I prefer not to. Thank you!
Great video. Fortunately against my young daughter's advice I did not get rid of my bootcut jeans. Out they come now 🙂 As long as you are happy wear your jeans. I personally watch this channel to get ideas of how to wear things so that I don't look like I am competing with my daughters who are 21 and 31. Keep up the good work Gemna 🙏🏾
Love the color of the turtleneck you wore in this video. Suits your skin tone and hair perfectly. I’m a pear shape so bootcut jeans have always been my friend. Thanks for your take on these jeans. Always informative 👠
@@CarolinaZ501 personlly as a inverted triangle I like boot cut because they balance me out and makes me more Curvy lol. But I also have a easy time styling skinnies aslong as I'm careful about the top style
Hi Gemma! I'm 60 and I love and wear jeans, and I'll allaways will. The problem is that some people don't evolve and are trapped in time and in oldfashioned ideas. Love your videos and used a lot of your outfit ideas!
There is a huge chasm between “fashionable” and “tasteful” - wearing jeans is fashionable, but how a lady wears her denim speaks to her taste. My wife has never worn torn or distressed denim, that’s her choice and not based on anyone else’s opinion. She looks as sexy in her boot-cut jeans as she does in tapered denim.
Jeans are classless timeless I love the white shirt under jumper The gilets the checks all ver practical Your biitcuts make your legs look endless. So flattering. I ll fish out my jumpers but I loved the soft neckline H&m one on here thanks Gemma as always on point!!
I love your classic style, and that you are including personal photos of you wearing the styles, and that you show similar looks versus exact replicates. It would be nice to include more whimsy! A little surprise, colour, accessories or fun scarf. Loved the pink shearling, it is exactly what I mean about fun or whimsy. We need to add a bit more sparkle to our classic looks so we don’t get bored.
I have always loved bootcut jeans, and have worn them regardless of the latest trend. Dark wash or black look more dressed up and appropriate for us older ladies!
I remember being younger (12, 13, etc.) and I would always wear bootcut jeans with my adidas and a shirt that was fitted and matched with my sneakers. Then skinny jeans became more popular and i started wearing those. But I still wear bootcut today. Since the 70s fashion is coming back I'm bringing out the flared heads, natural hair out, and my glasses out.
I'm loving bootcuts at the moment, I'm 57 and love to wear mine with a fine knit, in fact only today I wore mine with a light camel knit from Primark and a Chanel style tweed cream and camel blend jacket with pearl and gold buttons from H & M in the sale, a silky Chanel style neck scarf and grey suedette low block heel boots from Everything five pounds, finished with a beige and pearl embellished shoulder bag from Bessie London sourced on Single Price....the jeans were from eBay brand new Tu at Sainsbury's for £8....total cost of outfit £40.50 for everything and I felt great in my classy jeans outfit, so who says you can't look classy in jeans, as a comment made by someone in your previous video....it's how you balance out the outfit. Bootcuts always make you look longer and leaner and slightly smaller up top if you're busty.
I also disagree with the comment. A proper lady can look very stylish in a pair of good quality jeans for any casual or dressy casual occasion. As an inverted triangle, I love bootcut jeans even more than the skinny jeans. They really help to balance out my body type. You always do a fabulous job including examples of how to pull off these looks in the most elegant way. I hope the person who commented will reconsider her opinion on jeans. After a certain age, I think ladies shouldn't worry so much about what other people think, and just do what makes them happy. We've certainly earned it.
well that's the nice thing about being in your 40's...we can do what we want despite what everyone else says! I love my jeans and continued to wear bootcut when skinnies came out, even while one of my friends laughed at me saying it was out of style. In the states, everyone wears jeans, especially the well to do. Could be that in certain parts of the world that's not the case? I say know your style and if something looks great on you, wear it!
I just watch this video and I love it. As a pear shape I'm thrilled to see the boot-cut jean making a strong comeback. What are your thoughts about the links of boot-cut jeans. Most advice seems to be to have the hem almost grazing the floor but I noticed that yours are a bit higher off the ground. I prefer that look myself. Also what is your thought about wearing bootcut jeans with flats if the hem length is not too long. Thanks so much Love your channel!
Well I'm what you would call an older woman and I'm not giving up on my extensive wardrobe of jeans and no one is going to tell me I can't wear them!!!! I wear boot cut, skinny, rough hem, white or whatever I feel like and in all shades of blue!! I even have some slightly distressed! I wear what I want!! I sure look better than some young people wearing all the so-called leisure wear aka pajama looking things!!
Fabulous video! So glad the boot cut jean is back. I have a couple of pairs and love wearing them. You’ve given me some fantastic outfit ideas 😀 Thanks Gemma😀😍
You have terrific style. I agree with you. Boot cut jeans WITHOUT rips are nice. It’s how you wear the jeans that matters. You are right on trend for me. I had to figure out that a jumper is a sweater. And a gylie???? A vest? I love you and your channel. Thrilled to find you.
Everyone can wear jeans. If Kate Middleton wears jeans, so can we. Dark wash is always elegant and easy to put together. Bootcut jeans look pretty good and elegant if you wear a high heal. When I wear flat shoes I feel that they widen my already wide hips. Great outfits. Thank you.
I am so glad the boot cut jeans are not cropped! Cropped is all they have been showing the past few seasons. They cut your legs up and make them look shorter. And I need to wear socks in the fall and winter to keep me warm!
Afternoon Gemma, I think there's a pair of jeans for everybody, and anybody. I prefer a dark shade, or black these days. They can be dressed up, or down...I love em. Great video, hope you're ok xx
Boot cut only! I have to where uniform, I always manage to find a Boot cut to get my way🌹office wear at Macy's, also Dickies has a Junior Boot cut flex! Love every material in boot cut! Classic look!
I love boot cuts- they make my very straight body look curvy. I do need to wear a heel so I don't always reach for them. Jeans are for everyone crossing all bounderies! They are definitely youthful--it's part of what makes Jane Fonda's vibe youthful
Hahaha love the comment about well to do ladies and jeans, I live in Midhurst and we have polo regularly being played here. Most spectators will wear jeans apart from one or two days in the summer for the finals, then it's all out dressing up! Jeans are a staple....love this video.
My thighs and calfs are too big for skinny jeans, by the time there is enough leg room to pull them up all the way the waist and hips are enormous. I've spent a lot of time crying in change rooms. But bootleg and wide leg always work for my hefty legs. I never owned a pair of skinny jeans in my life. When boot leg jeans disappeared I started wearing men's jeans, until they become even skinnier than women's jeans. I hope this video means that I'll be able to find women's jeans that fit me again 😜.
Jane Fonda rocks bootcut jeans in a Netflix serie “Grace and Frankie” 😍 I’m so inspired by her style, at the age of 38 I love her style! So flattering and youthful!
Love bootcut jeans with some sort of heel - they tend to look frumpy with flats or very chunky bottomed shoes. I think your examples of outfits in this video are the BEST! Women of all sizes can wear them if they aren't too short, or hitting the ground. They elongate all legs if you have them "almost" hitting the ground, with any heel or slender shoe!
@@sassydoe9407 I'm not very tall and finally realized that for me to get that elegant, polished look I just can't wear them with flats or chunky shoes - even kitten heels changed it for me!
Jeans rule and I love bootcuts, flares and wide legs. I think a lady is a lady so whatever makes her feel feminine then that’s it. No exclusions, Thanks for the video.
I love boot cut jeans . The only style I wear , whether on trend or not .

Also what is your thought about wearing bootcut jeans with flats if the hem length is not too long. Thanks so much
Love your channel!
Absolutely love your style advice and look forward to your videos each week.
Thank you I think this style jeans is so flattering.you would look nice with some bangs or long fringe
Fabulous video! So glad the boot cut jean is back. I have a couple of pairs and love wearing them. You’ve given me some fantastic outfit ideas 😀 Thanks Gemma😀😍
My favourite kind of jeans. They make my legs look longer! ❤️
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE bootcut jeans.
Gilet is the word.
Sherry Dance ikr!? The cropped ones negate the long look we’re all after!
The ankle length (sort of cropped) looks good on my short legs. I guess we need to wear what individually makes us look good and feel confident.
Afternoon Gemma, I think there's a pair of jeans for everybody, and anybody. I prefer a dark shade, or black these days. They can be dressed up, or down...I love em.
Great video, hope you're ok xx
So glad I kept my bootcuts, I’ll be doing my bit for recycling !
Really enjoy your videos. Well researched and the visuals are so compelling. Thanks for your content!
Thank you so much Kimberly
Thx for getting me back to bootcuts. I'll look for them immediately. Love your style.
Just ordered a pair, welcome back my old friend 👖
I just love bootcuts !
Me too
Hahaha love the comment about well to do ladies and jeans, I live in Midhurst and we have polo regularly being played here. Most spectators will wear jeans apart from one or two days in the summer for the finals, then it's all out dressing up! Jeans are a staple....love this video.
Hi Andrea, I know Midhurt a gorgeous part of the country.
Hi Gemma you are doing spectacular videos. Love them all. By the way, Great jeans do not discriminate
Another great video. Love boot cut. I always struggle with which type of shirt/ sweater to wear with them.
You always have a very chic look you go girl very classy
Great video! Congratulations for your meticulous work. You really helped me
Jane Fonda rocks bootcut jeans in a Netflix serie “Grace and Frankie” 😍 I’m so inspired by her style, at the age of 38 I love her style! So flattering and youthful!
Oh yes!!! I watched the whole series and loved her style and outfits in it too
I just got Levi's ribcage boot cut jeans that are a bit long, but can't wait to wear them with your brilliant styling ideas! Thanks ☺️.
Love your style in every single video. Looking forward to the next one!
Like you say length may be key. I think the right pair can look polished with flats in a casual way.
@@sassydoe9407 I'm not very tall and finally realized that for me to get that elegant, polished look I just can't wear them with flats or chunky shoes - even kitten
heels changed it for me!
@@southernbelle007 I understand, or a low block heel perhaps.
@@sassydoe9407 Yesssss! I have a pair of low block heels with a pointed closed toe - looks chic!
@@southernbelle007 Excellent! I can picture you rocking them👍
Love & enjoy your channel all the time ! Keep it up the excellent fashion .
Jeans rule and I love bootcuts, flares and wide legs. I think a lady is a lady so whatever makes her feel feminine then that’s it. No exclusions, Thanks for the video.
I haven’t worn boot cut jeans since the 90’s; I may give them a go...I also really love boyfriend & wide legs in a nice wash, sans the distressing .
