Surface modeling is an alternative to Solid Body modeling. Essentially, it’s just another tab at the top of the SOLIDWORKS User Interface. Keep left mouse button pressed and move cursor along the direction that you want to extend.

Hi Dear, I did not use so long time books for CAD Programs,
In the beginning around 2005 I was using but according to the my experiences books on CAD softwares are big time loss.
Better you go from real examples youtube provide a lot of material.
