@@FleetStBarber merry Christmas mate! I have only smelled the newer version a couple of times but I remember thinking it was sound! Get yourself a sample if possible, as long as you like it it's perfect!
Muscs Koublaï Khan and Cuir Mauresque were the stuff of legend from the moment they first came out, with lavish descriptions of spices and sweaty men riding leather saddles, but I never got any of that, not even from the Palais Royal versions, just tame powdery musks. But Ambre Sultan - that's always been an entirely different beast...
@@RichMitch I went home and compared some older bottles I have of Ambre Sultan - despite being the oldest one of all, my Palais Royal one is slightly lighter in colour (and more amber) than two I have from when the label changed, never noticed that before. I literally had to dust them off, shameful.

Modern SL is great. I would sample this one first though, its not a "standard" amber.
