This album remembers me of a very lonely time in my life. I was studying in another state, here in Brazil (2000 km from home). It was the last year of my PhD, and I was tired, sad, lonely and homesick. Then I found this album in the internet. I was instantly hooked. Somehow, a bunch of years later I'm feeling lonely and sad, and found this album again.
It's definitely a bit of a sad and lonely time around the world. I'm currently in my 4th year of my bachelors right now and also about 1100km from home. Hopefully the lonely times pass soon, friend.
@@cristobalvalenzuela238 Well. Today,...ten years after I finished my PhD, it's a little difficult to tell you whether it was worth it or not. Between my bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctorate and two post-doctorates, I dedicated 17 years to my academic career. I've had good times and bad times all these years. But I learned a lot about myself and about life. Currently I work in a completely different area. I obtained a technology degree and now work in software development. There wasn't much more to progress in my academic career. Then came the pandemic, and 2 presidents who didn't have much concern about scientific careers here in Brazil. I was already over 35 and needed stability. I don't know if I would do it differently if I had the chance. It's something that you'll have to look inside and ask yourself, whether it's worth it or not.
These songs were recorded by the lead singer before Mimicking Birds was formed. Nate went by the name N8 at that time. I discovered him on Myspace in around 2007 or so. Got all of his music back then. There were more songs than what is in this upload. I probably have some burned Cds somewhere with all of the pre Mimicking Birds songs on them. I need to find those.
True OGs know theres a few key tracks missing. Namely the ones they re-recorded lesser versions of for their first self titled record. I downloaded this album off of myspace in like 2009 lol
I've loved their first two LPs forever. One of them came with a download of 'Early Recordings' which quickly became my favorite. Now this - I can't believe there is more out the from this time period! I haven't even listened to it yet, already prepared for this to become a constant sound in my ears for the next several weeks. I have purchased their music, a couple t-shirts, and been to two of their live shows. Still, I wish I could pay them for this.
@@nicholasmcgilvray This is Mimicking Birds to me, back when it was just Nate recording at home with a guitar and keyboard.. Layers of Us gets close, though.
I really appreciate you uploading this. I had no idea they had released this until I saw your video in the sidebar. Also, a shoutout to the RUclips sidebar for being so effective at finding what I like or could potentially enjoy.
Thanks Valkyrie for uploading I’d love a download link been waiting for their new album and now that it has come out I cannot get enough of their music
Ahaha, nah. Hopefully my band will be releasing an album this summer when they get back from Australia and I go home to Manitoba. I had to upload this album because I couldn't find it on youtube and I think it is Mimicking Birds best to offer, it was a crime to keep it to myself ahaha.
RideOfValkyrie ok haha well thank you then kind sir cause I went through it in its entirety during my study session and it was a pleasure to listen to 👌🏻
Hey man tell me if this works, you should be able to download them all off this google drive I made. drive.google.com/open?id=1bnINWiEfPgarknNmnLflaaehk29E-oa-

@@Athapap Hey I just realized that I sounded like a complete dick and I wanted to apologize. It's pretty funny, that video is now unlisted, anyone who doesn't have this URL cannot see it. Half of this album was deleted from my phone and I couldn't find the trusty link to that video to save the day, I really appreciate it man. This band is truly special to me, this early stuff particularly.
Hey man thanks a bunch for putting this up! I was beginning to think that I would never find all 16 tracks all from the same source, and I'm from Portland, OR, just like this band. I still couldn't manage to find it. But the songs that I did manage to find made this album out to be my favorite Mimicking Birds album. So I've always looked forward to finding the rest of the tracks, or maybe all of them from a single source. So thanks a bunch for that man! I really appreciate it very much!
Haha you think that this is inclusive mimicking birds has literally the best Christmas song ever called whose child is this and a song called nothing to fear, and one called walking in the air that tops the charts it gets better than this even.
Trust me, I've heard it all hahaha. This isn't supposed to be the definitive list of unreleased demos from them, its just the songs Nate recorded at Isaac's house when he was getting signed to Isaac's label. It was once a collection sold alongside the self title but it was taken off the internets proverbial shelves for one reason or another.
RideOfValkyrie How much more have you heard than this? Back in ‘08 Nate had roughly 21 tracks on his bandcamp and lost the original disc I had with all of them on it.
He’s so talented.
Listening to this towards the end of high school not knowing who the hell I was is a feeling I wouldn’t trade for anything.
dude same this album helped me make a 1700 mile move across the state at the time loved it so much.

I have had almost the same exact experience with this album as you. It’s just one of those albums and yet again it’s just one of those days.
