I can’t tell how much I appreciate the mammoth effort that you both put in to try and get back to Sydney to surprise me for my birthday! It means so much that you worked so hard to finish Nigel so you could come home! WOW!!! Thank you so much, it means more than you know. Sending love . Safe travels! 🤗😉👍🏻❤️
You won't want to be in Tassie until at least February anyway, that's when the summer really starts! so many things to do in Tas when the weather is beautiful and it should be good Feb through to almost May.
I can see why lots do the alucab RTT roof replacement instead of the RTT box on the roof approach - gives you significant more space in the truck when camp is setup
It's funny, after living in a pop top for almost 3 years, we don't see the value in it (over $15,000) for you to be able to stand up in 1 spot. If it's too windy, you have to put it down, you can't store anything more up there. Each to their own I guess but coming from experience, the dollar value does not match the gain in our opinion :)
Loving the inside of Nigel. I actually like how the fridge came out and the clever way you fixed the slide out to lock it. You both have worked so hard on the build. You 2 should be very proud.
Keep going guys as it will all be in the past in 6 months time. You'll be sitting back watching a glorious sunset and remembering how hard you worked. You are both inspirational for young and not so young...well done.
I didn't realize that the awning wrapped around the back. That's wonderful! On the lid for the fridge, you may want a "dent" which you could hook a bungie to and a hole or dent in the cabinet above so you and hold the lid open. Also when you have "extra cash" lol... you may want to put sun screen film (the ceramic heat blocking stuff) on your side windows. I have it on my van and it helps keep the interior cooler.
Keep Going You Legends! You keep inspiring all of us watchers to get our thumbs out. You were mentioned at least a dozen times at Volksfest! And Happy 70th Garrie!
I had a LWB Landie like this one in the 70's & it never left me stranded- a few failures, but I always could keep going. With fridge ventilation it's pretty simple, measure the fridge itself vent(s) & have that as a minimal as external venting, maybe allow 20% for losses.
awww! Great job guys. Seriously epic! Your build is amazing. We have also found so many little bumps in the road, plans this year haven't gone super smoothly & building our homes has many little stresses. Sending love to you both! We know the feeeeels a lot!!
not having a fitted sink is a great idea, we find, when in a caravan park we carry our dishes , in our small collapsible sink over to the camp kitchen and use their hot water and drainage system, or just use their hot water.
I’m so sad that your plans didn’t come together. But hopefully you can spend sometime with your Dad very soon. Sometimes no matter how hard you try it just doesn’t work. I actually missed Vance when you were both feeling sad 💜🙏
You both are creating such an amazing dream ! My dear friends time does not exist! The 70 year birthday will continue the whole year! I know you are feeling sad to miss the special occasion, but once your dream project is complete, take a break and make a little visit! It’s all good! Everything happens for a reason! 🙏🇨🇦❤️🌈🌎🦋🛹🏄♀️
Good morning guys from wales🏴just tosay i love your truck & your content over the last thew days iv been doing catch up with your build and its been a fantastic viewing well done you two i have a defender 130 crewcab wich im doing up to'go on my travels i love your kitchen setup if your don't mind me asking what mm is your ply & is it marine ply you have used allso what kg doe's your rail kitchen system hold😁keep the good work up & injoy your adventurers🌎 we're ever it may take you. Re,dave🏴😁
Thanks for the comment Dave! For the heavy duty stuff we used 15mm ply from a specific high quality ply company called Plyco. The drawer slides are rated 220kgs each but that varies depending on extension length etc. Hope that helps and good luck with your defender :)
Yep! The fridge is actually propped up on slats for airflow from the bottom, and with the way the floor works where it’s sitting, the entire front half underneath opens into Glenn’s closet (which isn’t that full). Also, because the car isn’t perfectly square, the sides taper out, so there’s open space on the backside of the fridge as well 😊
I would still recommend a 12v fan to circulate the air. I had slightly more air space around my fridge and it ran a lot harder because of it. I then opened the area up and it ran much better. Also in the same setup vehicle.
Your craftsmenship and attention to detail is amazing. What a fabulous build.
Really coming along guys ❤🚐

Thanks Dad! We really wish we could have made it but old Nigel had other ideas! haha.

Awesome build! Will definitely be using some of your ideas in my own build
Glad to hear it Hugh! Thanks :)
I’m American and my partner is Australian, too! We are finishing our build in the next few weeks. Come to brissy sometime! 😊
How cool! We'll be on the east coast next year for plenty of exploring to be done. Might see you guys on the road :)
My OCD is loving your fridge top/ bench. so perfect. Great job. Well done.
Aw thank you! That means so much!
Keep Going You Legends!

No matter the build, there always seems to be frustrating difficulties along the way. Hope you guys are doing alright (it's looking amazing!)
@@KendallandGlenn Thank you so much guys! We are making really great progress now, living on the Fleurieu & feeling so much better yaaay

Yeah definitely! It’s funny what you think you’ll need vs what you actually end up utilising the most 😂
@@KendallandGlenn keep it simple and lightweight, is our motto.
Looks great. You could always put a hinged collapsible sink on the back door

Don’t be sad, missing family is the worst, you’re doing such a good job, bring on Tassie,
Missing our families is definitely one of the hardest parts of this lifestyle but we’re grateful for it nonetheless. So excited for Tassie 😊
coming together pretty well given the time crunch. y'all going to struggle seeing around that spare, maybe mount it on the back door?
We did think the same thing but we are shocked at how little it impedes our view. Honestly can't believe it haha
@@KendallandGlenn that's awesome, love it when a plan comes together!
the dog supervising 😂

Do you need a GVM upgrade for all the weight you've put in the car?
No he is still all good in that department :)
What's the GVM with all of the gear in/on it mate?

Dave,🏴🎄
So you explained there is room around the fridge but besides the handle slots where else is there ways of fresh air to get in or out?
Yep! The fridge is actually propped up on slats for airflow from the bottom, and with the way the floor works where it’s sitting, the entire front half underneath opens into Glenn’s closet (which isn’t that full). Also, because the car isn’t perfectly square, the sides taper out, so there’s open space on the backside of the fridge as well 😊
If you need extra ventilation for the fridge, I found a couple of 12 volt fans were perfect to pull the hot air outside.
I would still recommend a 12v fan to circulate the air. I had slightly more air space around my fridge and it ran a lot harder because of it. I then opened the area up and it ran much better. Also in the same setup vehicle.
