El dorado is such a powerful song, it feels your soul with hope. Also, this is the performance that made Disney have a collab with them. They sang "Lightsaber " for the force awaken China-Japan-Korea promotions ( they sing that song in those languages) if you see the Japanese concert version they sing Lightsaber in Japanese and in Seoul in Korean. We all dream for ElDorado to have an MV.
As you can see, EXO's "El Dorado" is about the lost city of El Dorado, which is a mythical city made of gold. It is said that Spanish conquerors started the rumor of the city, after learning of the Indian king El Dorado who, according to legend, was covered in gold. (As you probably know, El Dorado means the gold or the golden one in Spanish.) So, what you saw as part of the background in this performance, was in the beginning the golden gates of the city were there and as the performance went on the gates opened to reveal the mountain and SM's depiction of what they think the city of El Dorado might look like. That's also why EXO was all in gold outfits. I think the light poles they danced around were to represent objects they had to navigate through in their search for the city. Finding the city is thought to possibly help to reveal something they need or clues to help them locate the Tree of Life, etc. And now that aespa has been added to the storyline, maybe finding "El Dorado" will reveal something that connects the two groups. For example, if aespa was made the guardians of the tree, in charge of hiding the two halves in order to keep it safe, then locating "El Dorado" may be what EXO needs to do in order to find where the tree is hidden. (In aespa's "Next Level" MV we see aespa and their avatars with what looks like could be the Tree of Life.) At the end of the "El Dorado" performance, they make the X with the light sticks. The X represent the X in EXO, but it's also to represent the X you would find on a treasure map that marks where the treasure would be. X marks the spot and EXO is the treasure. LOL Legends have it that El Dorado is a magical city that can only be found by those who it wants to find it, and some stories say it could have something to do with aliens or otherworldly beings. That's why this song works so well for EXO because EXO's origin story is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who came to Earth with superpowers in order to protect the mythical Tree of Life. That's why in this song some of the English lines are "Sail, sail, sail ... got to go, go, go" ... "got to find, find, find ... El Dorado," etc. Fun fact: It is thought that Lay's solo "Namanana" MV storyline might be connected to "El Dorado's" story. (We see a giant ship sailing through the sky in "Namanana," which is thought to possibly be connected to the fact that in "El Dorado" they are talking about sailing to find El Dorado.) And the flags you see in this performance should remind you of the flags you see as part of EXO's "Obsession" comeback logo and in their "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV. Even their B-side songs and live performances can be connected to EXO's concept and storyline. In real life, explorers and Indiana Jones-type treasure hunters are always searching for the lost city of El Dorado thinking if they ever find it, it will be the key to riches and gold. There have been several fictional movies made about the search for El Dorado and there even have been TV programs and documentaries, etc. about real life explorers who have searched for the city thinking they can prove it was a real place and, at least in part, the stories could be true. EXO's "EL Dorado" performance is also what has been said, inspired Disney to ask SM and EXO to collaborate with them to produce the song and MV for EXO's "Lightsaber" as a promotion for their Star Wars movie "The Force Awakens". (Disney has also done adaptations of the El Dorado story over the years with movies and TV shows, etc.) I think in reality, El Dorado was a Mayan city that was located on or near a gold minefield, so the city and Inca people who lived there were rich with golden objects made from the tribe's gold. So treasure hunters and explores are looking to find the city's location in the hopes of finding the hidden treasure left behind by its ancient inhabitants, etc.

@@marcogennuso you have to be careful with Japan ones. Usually reactors would to the Seoul ones. However some Seoul performance was without Kai as he was injured. And yes, Star Wars production team saw this performance and contacted EXO for collab.

(Chris deserted them just before their first concert, Luhan left a short while later and although some lucky people got to see Tao in EXO concerts, he was often injured resulting in him also leaving, I don't remember seeing a version of this song with him in, but I could be wrong on that.)
Yes, i believe Tao was present in some of concerts of this tour but was cleverly edited out by the technical editing team for the dvd (completely unnecessary if you ask me)

The way that the members dance on the catwalk then at a certain point they scatter and go to the other part of the stage to finish the song!! Whenever the members dance in sync always gets me excited to keep watching the dance!! The way that the stage lifts up and they dance on it is always amazing!! As you see here, their concerts are incredibly creative, well thought out and designed and there is a clear concept behind everything they are doing. As most fans will tell you, their live performances are even better than their studio versions. And their tickets sell out in record time, often in less than 1 second. It might help you as you delve further into EXO, if a song is from their earlier albums like this one is (2012-2014) it will have an EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin) version. When EXO was 12 and was split into those two units, all the songs they did had both a Korean and Mandarin version. Both versions of the title track would get an MV and you would probably see all members in the vid but each would focus on and have the vocals and rap from the K or M team. So in the studio version here you heard El-Dorado performed by EXO-K (but all 9 in the live stage because they were a single time of 9 members by the time of that show) After members left and EXO was then 9, all songs were done together. Only the title track would have a Mandarin version then on the albums. Oh, and then there are later albums where some members are missing due to Lay being in China or others serving their enlistment (for exmaple, Obsession and Don't Fight the Feeling albums have a partial line-up while members were serving in the military). hi Marco, glad that u enjoyed the performance. for live performance reactions in the future, i think the best version to react is the Japan concerts ones. they got better camera angle of every member, better showcase of key points of the performance/choreography and better overall stage appearance. i think you would be able to enjoy those the best.
I actually reacted to the Japanese version but copyright blocked my entire video lol. Don’t know if it's because I included the Korean version with it...maybe if I include the Japanese shows on their own it'll be fine? Hey Marco, El Dorado is always fun to listen to because I love how Baekhyun does the high/long notes in the song! Baekhyun's power with those high/long notes is just incredible! The way that the members dancing on the catwalk then at a certain point they scatter and go to the other part of the stage to finish the song! Whenever the members dance in sync, it always gets me excited to keep watching the dance! The way the stage lifts up and they're dancing on it is amazing! Baekhyun doing the high/long notes as Kai & Sehun dance before they decide to grab their lightsabers is just insane! The other members dance around the stage. The part that rises is incredible!
