The cutouts on the corners of the base plate also mean you can peg it down so it’s far more resistant to being knocked over. A massive safety feature that I never see mentioned in these videos.
What is the best method to arrange logs in this firepit? I'm used to Upside-Down Pyramid formation to cook food, but the shape (inverted pyramid) makes it a bit hard on this one. Would you suggest still using inverted pyramid but just arranging smaller logs/kindling wider?
Lighting a fire has never really been a science for me @Ilia Slobodchikov, I would just pop some paper or firelighters in where you can access them, pile on your lighter weight twigs and pup some heavier kindling on top. Light it up and when the fire gets going you can add extra logs as required. ~ Lauren
Depends on the National Park & State @Gary Smith, some require you to remove all evidence, burnt fuels, ash, etc. If in doubt check ahead with the relevant authority. ~ Lauren
I've used some cranking firepits on a deck before @Kaerka. If you want to use this on a deck, would recommend having a extra piece of wood underneath to be on the safe side, such as a piece of thick ply. Obviously dont leave it unattended, or over stack it when wood could fall out. ~ Lauren

@@KaizenOz didn't realise that. Doesn't take too long before people figure out a cheap way to copy and manufacture great ideas, Travel Buddy Oven went the same way. Then we wonder why nothing gets manufactured in Australia anymore :(
Who originally designed this pit? It now seems all the ones that stole it are sourcing from the same factory. If not they are charging $350 and saying they’ve redesigned it by having less welds.
I'm not sure, bennybaubles, but the same style of fire pit does seem to exist under many brand names. This is quite common with certain products, not only in the camping industry. ~ Ben
Got one of these 👍.. the bees knees of portable fire pits , highly recommend
Thanks for your feedback, John. ~ Ben

Got one of these finally, and can't wait to use it!. You can put the square cast iron grill in the front mesh pocket. It fits perfectly!
They are a popular fire bit, Jun Oh, thanks for the tip on the storage pocket. ~ Ben

What are you supposed to do with the ash etc if you use it in a national park? Do you need a way to pack it out?

Surface gets hot ? Can I use on deck ?

What is the price of this fire pit?
You can see current pricing and details here, Amanda - www.snowys.com.au/stainless-steel-bbq-450-firepit. ~ Ben
Is that a copy of the Snow Peak design?
Quite possibly, David, there are a lot of very similar looking fire pits in the market and they all seem to be copying each other. ~ Ben

Looks like a Drifta Snow Peak copy?
Yeah, there are a few around that all look suspiciously similar. ~ Ben
Drifta have ripped it off themselves since they've stopped selling SnowPeak

I think the Drifta one is a bit lighter but not worth the additional cost IMO
Looks exactly like the one I got from China for $125, bag and all
3 guesses where they get them🤔

I believe all these kinds of fire pits are inspired by Snow Peak
The 630 is even better
It is, but it's also quite big - depends how much space you're got to transport for which one you go with, I reckon.

I’ve got one and it’s quality stainless steel
Thanks for your feedback, Brend. ~ Ben
That pouch I would keep lighter and kerosene lighter blocks...
Good idea, there is a bit of room for small items like this. ~ Ben
Very nice but a bit pricey.
Not cheap, I agree, but it's pretty cool and means we are not scarring the environment as much as a firepit in the ground would. ~ Ben
Not compared to a Snow Peak one. Not sure of the quality difference though...
