Savage Flies is a project with the mission of encouraging and teaching fly tying to as many people as possible. The channel is named after one of my western Maryland homewaters, the Savage River. Thanks for stopping by. Спорт
p.s. For newer tyers, Dave Hughes really does a superb job of telling what you need to know about insects for fly fishing in an interesting and uncomplicated way. His “Handbook of Hatches” book is a great introduction to the insects you will want to learn about paired with the flies to match them. It’s still published for about $25.00.
Thanks for the info.
What I like about watching you tie is that while you want to tie the perfect fly, you’re good at accepting a “good enough” fly that will certainly catch fish.
Easy style for me to watch and learn.
Will be a great book to read on a cool evening looking over the water while having a old fashioned
Never ugly....Always fishable! Nature never goes by the BOOK..... Thanks Matt!
Another great fly 👌 Coffee and a fly book......fishing is right around the corner.
That looks like something I could tie. The BOOK would be neat to have.
That book would look great on my coffee table!
I just tied my first parachute fly the other day!! Awesome video Matt! Could we possibly get a book review series as well, please! Awesome fly! Thank you for sharing! Tight lines!! 😎🎣
That book is definitely a "gotta have one". Great pattern, too! Thanks for the video!
That would be a great book to add to the library.
I would love to add a new fly tying book to my collection! Have a wonderful evening!
Learning quite a bit through your videos. I imagine the book would be a great addition to anyone’s collection!
Awesome buggy parachute! I'd make book on that 🪰 fly, and anything Hughes has to say. Thanks for your generosity Matt!
I have a great spot for a Dave Hughes Trout Flies book in my limited library of tying books. Very kind of you to offer it as a giveaway. Thank You!
I'd love to get a copy of this book. Sounds like a treasure trove of fly tying info.
Thanks for the tips on the parachute. At my age I'll stick with the white but appreciate seeing the techniques. That looks like an awesome book by Dave Hughes.
Book. Love your videos. You're the Tyer for the common man.
This is a great giveaway. I try looking for a BOOK of these every time I go to a thrift store. Videos are great but there is something about having a book that makes tying more special.
March 1st-Great technique for my need to to get my dry fly box full to venture into central PA’s streams for wild browns!

My dad and I are teaching my kids how to tie flies. They are loving it. I even got my son watching your tying videos. That book would sure help me out showing the kids new patterns. Your videos are great. Keep up the great work.
Loved watching you tie this one Matt, glad to see you didn't go by the book. Thanks Matt 👌.
Great fly
Book
I would love to add this book to my library
I love how you find patterns in a variety of books . I'm guessing you have a pretty large collection. I like looking for patterns by different authors and learning different techniques and styles of tying along with the variety of different materials used . Tomorrow is March first and out here in Western SD the weather has been a roller-coaster. We went from 70 to 14 and snow overnight now back in the 60s . Thanks for sharing your techniques tying the March Brown Parachute. Gonna give it a try.
That BOOK sure would be nice to have...thanks for everything.....great job!!!
Matt it may need a little cleanup but it's a fishable fly. The book is a great giveaway. Thanks Matt have a great week
It’s for sure the right time of year for March Browns. They’re starting to hatch. That book would be great to have. Thanks for giving back.
Enjoyed meeting Dave Hughes at BUFF Fly Fishing Expo in Cincinnati. He autographed a book for me.
That's outstanding! I've never met him in person but would love to someday. :-)
@@SavageFlies Strongly recommend reaching out soonest.
Good morning Matt☕️☕️
Now I really like that bug, and that book is amazing 😉
I do my parachutes in a very similar manner. I fix the wiggly post problem by hitting the bottom of the post with a tiny bit of super glue right after I form it. Then the post and its connection to the hook is pretty solid when I get to wrapping the hackle. I have tied up some March Brown parachutes too for this spring! Fun to tie some bigger dries once in a while...
I have one of Dave Hughes earlier publications. I have tied and fished several of his patterns with good success. I don’t have that particular book so count me in. As usual, thanks for the tutorial on a great pattern. Blessings to you and family.
Another super tie and fly...and book!!!
Great looking book, and the March brown parachute looks like a good one. Thanks for sharing

Parachutes are my favorite dry fly to tie. I never thought about using soft hackle feathers for the post. Ill have to tie a few this weekend to put in my smokies box for my trip in a few months. And since its supposed to rain ill probably stay in and read a fly fishing or tying book and have a little adult beverage enjoy
That’s a good looking pattern, and I think that would be an awesome book to add to my collection. I do have to say since watching your videos I have been buying a bunch of fly tying books.
This book looks great , would be great to add to my collection . Thanks Matt
Once again thank you for the demonstration. I would love a copy of the BOOK for my files
Good morning Matt. ☕️time on a windy morning in the desert. I have watched a number of different people tie parachutes both in person and on videos, sorry to say it hasn’t helped me a bit. 🤣. I’m sure my last attempt would be sent back by any trout with decent eye site. I do enjoy watching them be tied though. Looks like a good book. Take care Matt. Time for a ☕️reload.
Excited about the book giveaway - thanks Matt!!
Great video and what a great book to have in any tyers collection. Thanks, Matt.
