I've never seen that game before, but it would cause me to burn down my apartment. Being doomed to play that game for eternity is my personal hell. Watching him play it causes me anxiety.
I have trouble watching rage compilations, especially for Mark. I may find a few parts iconic and funny, but most of the time I feel bad and want him to see him do well.
To put "Getting Over It" into perspective, imagine that you're playing a game of Jenga and the tower keeps falling down. Then, after a few hours of playing (keyword being hours here;) you've manage to build the tower to a tremendous height. Soon, you feel as though victory is in your grasp. But then, something happens and the whole thing comes crashing down. THAT is how Mark feels with failing at this game
Mark actually says in a twitch stream that like, pretty much all of that was completely genuine. Like he imagines how he's supposed to do all of that but if he can't actually do it, it gets him insanely frustrated (which i understand to a certain level) and it just really like affects his health and mental wellbeing. And that's why he really hates playing rage games; because he also said that he hates how angry he gets and how angry he looks and how scary he gets to people. like he says that he knows he's not pleasant to be around during something like that so that's part of the reason why he stopped playing rage games. But his friends convinced him to play pogostuck and that's pretty funny

Markiplier's pain in videos like that seems to really draw people in. One reason is because we very rarely see Mark that genuinely upset. It's like watching a train wreck. Another reason, in my opinion, is everyone understands pain. The more we relate to that pain even if we haven't experienced it, the more we're drawn to it in others for potentially multiple reasons such as sympathy. In Mark's case in Getting Over It, gamers understand Mark's pain there all too well even if they haven't played the game he's in pain from.
The mastery of games is the fact that difficulty and fun are two completely different things, but are essential to coexist in a balanced way for a game to succeed massively
