4:34 There are other "jumping puzzles" in the game already. For example, that beautiful pavilion that can be seen at the top of a mountain in Eregion is actually reachable, and reaching it grants a hidden deed. (A "hidden deed" is one which doesn't display at all until it is fully complete. Another example of a "hidden deed" is eating 100 Lembas - there is no "deed bestowed" or way to track it but when it's done you get a fun title and a couple of LOTRO Points.)
@@BrightlifeMMOs There is also another in one of the ruins in Mirkwood and a really hard one as a daily quest in Hytbold that I still haven't managed to complete 😅
It also earns you the "Ridge Racer" title. Also, not really a jumping puzzle but there is hidden fishing pool near Maur Tulhau in Enedwaith that can only be reached via a path that starts by jumping up to a particular rock. Once you find the hidden fishing hole you comllete a hidden deed and earn the "Fisher King" title.
If SSG can keep putting out quality updates and expansions like this I think LOTRO has a very clear and positive future ahead of it. They have been making great strides recently at opening this game up for new players.
Most of people i know (including me) quit the game when we see the virtue grind we have to do on every alt. This is not a very alt friendly game. I wanted to try new classes but the thought of doing all deeds once again just broke me. And i quit.
my problem with some of the maps is that they are literally just in-game top-down screenshots stitched together which is great for accuracy when switching back and forth between the map and your character but it loses the hand-drawn art that i think maps in tolkien's world require and you also lose the novelty and mystery involved in discovering the world. having a quest tracker that shows you an exact spot you need to go is something i fully support while understanding that it takes a lot away from world exploration and discovery, however i also fully support requiring some of that lost exploration and discovery through a beautiful but old and sometimes confusing or inaccurate map. i'd much prefer they made artistic maps (updated ones, not how poorly drawn some of the original ones are) than to just take screenshots.
As a player returning to LOTRO pretty much for the first time truly since launch, this expansion was INCREDIBLE to level through! I love the new characters, the new story with the epic quests, the new locations and areas, not to mention the great feature upgrades to quality of life!
Outstanding video. Outstanding info: I agree with you Brightlife, this is all very good for the new players as well as the health of the game. LOVE LOTRO!
Love the changes coming. Would love gear stored on trait profile tabs to make gear and spec switching easier. Ultimate wish is a crafting system overhaul. Some consistency throughout.
Man I hope you’re right about all this. These are definite QoL improvements and I hope they continue down this path with future updates. Making the game friendlier to new players while also keeping current players happy should be the main goal of SSG if they want to keep seeing growth. This is just a smart expansion from what I can tell.
Dang it, I activated my free to play account that I haven't played on in years and I decided that there was one thing I was going to spend money on and that was the samwise gamshee riding bundle on Amazon for $9.99 which gives the riding skill and a mount for every character that logs in on your account and now this 🤣
I've been playing lotro since about a month after launch in 2007, and while I took a few years off in the middle somewhere, I think the game is stronger now than it has ever been, in terms of gameplay and content. I am excited for this release. The class point and quest tracker changes are very welcome.
So I’m a bit confused. I’m a brand new player. Just got to level 10. No riding skill or mount. Will I need to buy the expansion pack to access these new benefits? (Why would they create an expansion pack specifically geared towards levels 1-30 if you can’t access it as a new player?)
Hey man! I don’t believe so. I think the new mini-expansion only needs to be bought if you want to do the Swanfleet + Cardolan storyline. Otherwise, you’ll be set!
It does seem like they're upping the gameplay value and I hope it means the game will be around for another decade. Though by then I'll be .... oh God I don't want to think about it! As for the maps though, I hate the new maps. For me they're so hard to read and see. I wish we could choose the old map vs the new map. :( It's especially nice that they're making riding easier to get for new players. I sort of might already get riding right out of intro, but that's because a long time ago there used to be these free packs that would include riding skills and when you got them it applied to not only current characters but every character you ever made after. I'm counting down the days until Before the Shadow. Still have to decide what race to make the new character and a name for her too ... better start thinking! Great video as always!
The game won't grow much more if they don't get the engine lag under control. BTS is a big gameplay boon, but if the lag isn't settled it will be short lived I feel.
I do like the 10 quests on the screen especially as someone who is doing two different things on the same character. I do like the of the test server as it ties it to the lore like the servers. The class trait changes is where I have the most reservations. Did you have any noticeable changes in the amount of points that you gain? Is it really noticeable? Edit: The Secret World also has a really good jumping puzzle(I need to start to play that one again.).
I have!! That was fun, but IMO not a real “jumping puzzle” - more like trying to Skyrim-climb a mountain. Lots of guess work, not actual skill on when to really jump and how far to move your character. The one in Swanfleet was a proper jumping puzzle, which was cool!
There was a jumping puzzle in Rohan. It was part of the Rebuilding Hyboldt series in one of the towns to climb a tower. Jumping puzzles SUCK. They are frustrating. It's lazy design
ehh, I disagree. I think that jumping puzzles (especially optional ones) are really great game design. They give the player something fun to do and achieve from a solo perspective, and in general they're just fun to me. But hey, to each his own! Thanks for sharing what you think!
@@BrightlifeMMOs I know people like them. I know people who enjoy the jumping puzzles about the Datacrons in SWTOR. I've always had issues with them (don't even get me started with the jumping puzzles in Ultima VIII and IX - arrgghh!!) and to me they are more frustrating than enjoyable.
I get the hype around new lowlvl content and how good it can be for new/returning players. But how can u not adress the biggest issue the game has ? The lag. Pvmp and endgame raiding is completly unplayable at times (Pvmp unplayable most of the time). They should really pay more attention to the ppl who has stuck around and kept on playing and paying them money. Im afraid theyll end up loosing alot more players than they gain if they cant fix it, cause endgame content is a joke atm. Im a pvmper, always have been, always paid em, and what i get is 1 spell cast every 20-30 odd second (Afternoon/eveningtime when ppl are online). So for me (and many others) its actually very frustrating that they focus their energy on lowlvl content, when the endgame content is unplayable. If fear that myself, and many others ive spoken to, will quit soon if things dont happen. Theyve said they will fix for so many years, but nothing ever happens. We are paying for a product that doesnt work sadly.

To be able to track more than 5 quests is huge. Been waiting for this for 10 years.
The update I’m most excited about!!
The class trait point system change is huge. I haven't played consistently in about 3 years and this is making me want to give the game another shot.

Yep! The ridge racer is super fun! But it’s cool to see them adding even more here in BtS!

Dude great point! Let's keep the good vibes rolling for LOTRO!

Riding. Back in the day had to be level 20 and have a gold or 2 to buy the mount after completing a couple quests... you youngster have it easy!
You're talking to an OG Shadows of Angmar player - I remember! Kids these days... xD
If I recall it was level 30 and it cost 10 gold which was a lot at that time. I remember farming mobs to get my skill.
Excellent coverage, my brother. You are becoming (or you are already!) the best lotro content creator! I like your energy and enthusiasm!
Dude that's so kind of you! Thank you so much!!
dude ur so wholesome and just what the lotro community needs haha, ty for the content man, keep it up

I wonder if SSG scrapping the deed quests for class trait points is part of their back-end server fix to correct issues around lag.
Yes. That's been the talk on Discord and in world chat quite a bit lately.
I bet that's probably a solid reason - correcting the issues around lag has to be priority #1 for them for sure!
just wanted to say thank you for making your videos, your bright energy always makes me smile somehow
There actually is ONE jumping puzzle that I'm aware of, and that's an Angmar Treasure Cache (for deed). It's very difficult.
