Amazing rendition of Laura Nyro's Stoned Soul Picnic!!!! WoW!!!!!! Makes you smile the whole way through!!
Magnificent! Everyone here is at the highest level of professional playing/ Singing.
Always loved Lisa Fischer's incredible vocals. Also Billy Childs hypnotic piano-work on this album is fantastic. oNe LovE from NYC
She really loves singing. That genuine look of enjoyment on her face. Just wonderful!
I love me some Lisa Fischer! Her voice is still beautiful!
A very unusual route led me to this very fine performance. Glad I got here. Great song, great musicians and love the energy of Lisa Fischer. Brian Blade is the man.
Laura Nyro's best known song, imho. Not since the Staple Singers covered, have I loved this wonderful media. Clean arrangement and Lisa's wonderful mojo. I remember the 5th Dimension's version & Laura's version with Labelle.
EXCELLENT!!! I hear you Mr piano man. ❤❤❤😂🎉🎉🎉🎉 Such a wonderful ensemble.
Wow. Just wow. Has anyone ever seen a string section who looked like they were having such a time and thrilled to be there? : )
Yes, Stevie Nicks performance with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
What incredible and gifted woman.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU: I was there but didn't realize someone had put this up on RUclips. You rock!
Wow. Amazing how similar and close Lisa's voice is to Laura. She has Laura's soul, too. Love it. Will be urchasing this album. Laura, Bacharach, and Carol King are my favorite song writers of all time.
Absolute GENIUS!!! Peace
If I was in charge of handing out the licenses that permitted people to sing Laura Nyro - and there should be such licensing - Lisa Fischer would be high up on the short list.
Robert Eller Lisa Fischer has a GOLDEN TICKET and can sing anything!
Thanks for posting this! It was a pleasant surprise for the crowd... The "kicker" was the title track "Map to the Treasure" which she sang flawlessly - and Billy stretched a bit more. It would be nice to see that one again. Thanks again! #Peace
Beautiful! The song really is making me to itch for it! Lauro Nyro is a bit new to me...of course I knew the BSaT " And When I die "..she´s just great! Surrey...surrey!! Maybe...let´s hurry...short...Laura never let any body know...only she said she liked the " word " surrey..it sounded good.
Outstanding!
Sensational performance!!
Oh hell YES!
The greatest singer in the universe, ever!
I completely agree. I just saw her live last night. Blew me away.
Maybe so but I sure don’t think much of this song.
Laura Nyro wrote this song, and it was a monster hit for The Fifth Dimension. If you've not heard that rendition, please check it out. Their primary lead vocalist was Marilyn McCoo, who could sell out a club singing the phone book. And that's how I found Laura Nyro - through The Fifth Dimension. At first, I didn't understand why everyone went so gaga over Laura - but thing's have since changed. I spent many hours on YT listening to her material, both studio and live recordings. I emerged from that a huge fan of Laura Nyro. Back to Lisa Fischer. She is doing double-duty here, singing both lead and backup vocals - and pulling it off. If you think that's easy, first try it in the shower, before you embarrass yourself in public.
@@dissilymordentroge5818 Your in a minority the minority.
great performance. If they performed Save the Country can you please post? Thanks.

Finally a life performance decently recorded rather than the nasty, amateurish rubbish we’ve been forced to listen to. When, oh when though are we going to be able to buy professionally recorded CD.s, DVD., downloads etc of Lisa? That one of the greatest vocal artists on the planet has the majority of her work only available in inferior form is a crime.

Yeah now she's a better fit for that song although I still like the original better
If the first version is the Fifth Dimension, I agree. I also like the writer's Laura Nyro's version. I think they were released the same year. Janis Siegel does the song in a medley on one of her albums and Corinne Drewery (Swing Out Sister) also has a very nice version. All worth a listen.
The difference between all those version and Lisa's rendition here is the lack of backing vocals and I'm you'll agree the background vocals add a lot to this tune... a very nice interpretation by Ms. Fischer.
ohd00bley I agree
Great singer yes but 'Stoned Soul Picnic' doesn't give her an opportunity to show what she really can do.
Rightly so...Lisa stays within the song and Laura´s intentions. If somebody thinks that this is the way Lisa always sings, it can not be more untrue, I mean if you are not familiar with Lisa as a vocalist.
@Dissily Mordentroge This is not an audition, it is her rendition of the song. There are many other songs where she has shown her skills as a vocalist. Lisa's true fans know her capabilities.
