My great grandfather was a man of virtue and dignity. He is one person I can honestly say I have not seen lying. I could listen to him for hours and not get tired. He was very supportive and guided you to what you wanted to do, not what he wanted you to do. I know he would have loved the farm if he was here with us. He is surely missed. Drop any questions here that you would like to know about him and his life; and also share your experience with your grandparents and great grandparents as well.
I feel the same about my grandfather and also grandmother! I would love to have not only more gardening tips from your great grandfather, but also tips pertaining to surviving in times like ours, of economic recession. Thank you so much!
I remember my grandparents and parents would collect the dried cow pies and put them all on the garden patch for tilling each year. I remember picking tomatoes, pulling carrots and potatoes, and nibbling on sweet beans as a child. Best food ever. Grandma's tomatoes are unforgettable.
My great grandfather only made it through 8th grade and then he began farming full time, but when he passed we found some of his old notepads and they were filled with advanced trigonometry and chemistry equations. It’s important to remember that regardless of how intelligent we might think we are, past generations did much of the same things only without the help of modern technology. People in the area still say his watermelons, sweet corn, and green beans were the best tasting in all of southern Indiana. I wish I could go back in time and ask him the questions I have now.
I am continuing the legacy of gardening in my family. My great grandmother who was born in 1895 and passed in 1995 was my teacher - yes she blessed this world for 100 years.
I'm here to receive the LOVE & LESSONS from the Ancestor's lessons. 💜✊🏽🥰 👩🏽🌾💜 I'm so glad you were able to (AND OPEN TO) share such impressionable times in your life with your Elders. Young (colonized) generations are missing that guidance. I've followed you for a few years. I have so much love & respect for your "business" model (that is *genuinely* humanity-motivated), and THE INTEGRITY WITH WHICH you execute. 💜
Living your life this way, having a garden like your grandfather had his beloved garden and telling other people about your grandfather's life and ways is spreading his knowledge, spirit and love. This is a wonderful memory for you ❤️ and how wonderful for you to pass on to your children. And think about how long you are going to live! Many years to pass on the your knowledge. I have been raising Red Wigglers since 2009 and feeding Castings to my Garden. I started a RUclips channel in 2020 in hopes of passing on my 50 years of gardening experience and 13 years of Vermiculture knowledge. I have been watching your channel since you had your home and only raised beds in the back yard. I'm thrilled to watch you succeed 👩🌾👍

Thank you for sharing this personal piece of your life with us. It's beautiful. I am grateful to know there are still wonderful people in the world. Even if we all live far apart, it's content like this that weaves us all together like one big tapestry.
Nice to see someone who values the wisdom they learnt and observed from their elders. Have a great life on your farm. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
How incredibly fortunate to have guidance like that. Praises for your respect for your GG, the land upon which you grow your food and your willingness to share what 3 generations have taught you.
Your Great Grandfather speaks to us through you too, and probably that's why we connect to you all so much. He'd be really happy to have been with you in the farm today. There's a saying, that, those who stay close and connected to Earth have hearts of pure gold! 🙏🏼🌿❤ Your channel, by nature, is therapeutic. I learn so many things from you every single time... plus, your farm background just makes my day- rather I'll say every single part of your video! Very fulfilling. Sometimes I kind of smell the dark moist soil while watching. The manure too at times. Thank you very very much. God bless you! Edit : I am really happy for the SaveSoil movement that has a reach of over 3 Billion people, driving governments to make soil friendly policies to reverse the deadly condition of our world's soil. I pray Mother Earth heals from everything. If she heals, we'll also heal mentally, physically and spiritually ❤🌿
My great grandparents lived into their 100s before passing. I'm so sure it's because they grew their own food and ate mostly vegetables and beans. I'm lucky to have known them.
I have commented on this video before but I can't help but comment on it again because I love it so much. My grandfather raised rabbits and had worms under his cages. He grew the most wonderful gardens including delicious tomatoes the size of grapefruits. I always enjoyed the harvests but was not old enough to obtain his methods other than he used rabbit manure with worm castings to fertilize his garden. I loved and admired my Grandfather in the same way that you love and admire your Great-grandfather. They would have been fast friends!
What a wise man your great grandfather was. God blessed him with the knowledge of the soil, which he passed on to his grandson. Thank you for sharing this information, I learnt much. May the good Lord bless you and yours 🙏🌸
You have a great legacy. What a blessing to have an ancestor like your great-grandfather. Best wishes for your gardening. I am glad that you shared your advice with us.
So good to know your grandfather’s knowledge is being cherished and shared by you. This is what gives us encouragement to keep gardening more productively and safely. Many thanks Jag.
Absolutely excellent! Thank you for sharing all the wonderful tips and the advice you suggested! God bless you and your family. Enjoy the rest of your week.
That was amazing. Most grandparents & great grandparents grew up naturally, knowing the value & satisfaction of hard work & frugality. Thank you so much for sharing these treasures of wisdom! Please share more of these pearls with us!! May this good and wise man rest in peace. 🙏
Wow-- what a beautiful man you are, Jag, and beautiful tribute to your great grandfather. He would be very proud of you, as I'm sure your whole family is. Thank you for your wonderful channel, filled with wisdom and helpful information for us all. I appreciate your sharing your expertise with us, and look forward to a good harvest. Thank you 🏆🙂🌱
I love to hear your stories. My grandfather was a farmer too. He greatly influenced my life. He was so proud of feeding his dairy cows grass. His pastured cows were healthy, and he had his own dairy back in the 1940s and 50s. Definitely, he was before his time knowing the benefits of grass for raising cows. How did our grandparents know so much and our modern ways of doing things are so wrong!
I knew I liked your energy and here you’re explaining why. What a wonderful story about your grandfather and valuable lessons too that you are now sharing with us. It’s interesting to me that only in my second year of gardening I have done many of these things you speak about, it must be instinct, information passed down in the genes. Awesome stuff. Thank you and love to your great grandfather.
Thank you for sharing the wonderful story of your great grandfather and for sharing his wisdom with us! Can't wait to apply what I've learned here... 🙂
❤❤❤❤ My grandmother lived 99 -1/4 years. I started my garden thanks to her during Covid 2019 -forgetting I've murdered all of my house plants and herbs at some point. She lived long enough for me to get some great tips and show her pictures that made us both proud. I am so glad that you got to spend that time with your Great Gramps! It was a blessing to you all (and us too).
Jag, love your videos, they are short and to the point and so filled with information on organic way of gardening. I’m amazed that you are able to work your farm and videos also. I know how busy gardening can be! You are so blessed to have had your great grandfather and as a mentor also. What a wonderful time to have grown up with him and be so willing to learn from him. I love the gardening wisdom of your Great Grandfather. Thank you for sharing that wisdom with us. I agree with every word of it. And I learned some things about companion planting that I didn't know.
Good morning, I’m enjoying a lot of your videos (some again and again) I truly appreciate your wisdom. My Nana always made us work in her garden! Now I get it! I enjoy gardening now. Sweet memories and wisdom 🙏🏽🥕🙏🏽
My grandfather was a fruit peddler in Newark NJ of all places I heard stories of His fig trees growing in piles of mulch in a parking lot. He would leave the roots in the burlap root balls. In winter he would lay them down on the pavement and shovel what was left of the mulch on them so they could overwinter and start the process over each spring.
Your videoes are amazing and very informative plus two things: Firstly, you don't inject a lot of nonsense into your videoes, så every minute of your work is useful information.
