I love Betty and Jughead's relationship which started off as a long friendship.....and in the kiss, you can tell Jughead seems to have wanted to kiss her for a long time since he let out that huge sigh of relief after they broke off the kiss. I've been such a long time comics Bughead shipper cos these two are my favorite characters from the comics, and to be able to see something happen between them on a tv show is surreal!!

its funny how people who argue with " but jughead is suppose to be asexual that's why he can't be with betty." doesn't even know the meaning of "ASEXUAL". Being asexual doesn't mean they can't have romantic feelings they just don't desire sex or any sexual activities.

Yes, I'm still a big proponent of this representation, and it needs to be done correctly. to give depth to asexual jughead, it first needs to be stated that jughead's asexuality was a recent character development. Chip Zdarsky made it canon in his more modern universe. In all other universes (including the digests), jughead was either (a) a woman hater, or (b) aromantic. Aromatic jughead and asexual jughead are two different kinds of representation that deserve seperate attention and discussion, as the two orientations are different and dont deserve to be grouped.
Jughead is 16 going on 17 (as of episode 10). Sexuality is fluid. And where his sexuality is headed has, already, been heavily discussed. How closely jughead is going to resemble either zdarsky's universe or the digest remains to be seen. As an actor, I can only lend myself so much. Riverdale is a new universe, and we first need to think of jughead as a human agent within his environment, his decisions about his sexuality are going to be informed by his upbringing and his immediate and longterm desires. Betty and Jughead's coupling are a great example of such an informed decision."
I don't think they want Jughead to be asexual in Riverdale because Betty and Jughead did almost have sex in the last episode so...🤷♀️

It's funny cause in interviews Cole has said that he wishes the show would have explored Jughead's asexuality like they did in the comics.
Yes, but he also said that he's just an actor but it's the writers of the show that have the control over the character's development....and this season 1 was supposed to be a time where they find themselves and who knows maybe in season 2....Jughead decides that he wants to be asexual....we'll have to wait and see. I'm just glad Jughead is not a skirt chaser, and it's exactly like in the comics canon where the only girl he has a soft spot for is Betty...and he's said plenty of times that Betty is the only exception when it comes to romantic relationships.

At first, when I saw the first two or three episodes, I was an ArchieXBetty shipper. But then, I started to see this bonding going on between Betty and Jughead when they restarted the Blue & Gold and it was so sweet. So I literally cried my eyes out (happy tears, of course) when I saw their first kiss in episode 6. I kept on replaying it and I could really tell that Jughead just couldn't control his feelings anymore and they just tumbled out when he kissed her. It was such a heartfelt moment. My other favorite kiss was in episode 10 when Betty threw Jughead a surprise birthday party and there was this part where they had a fight and almost broke up. But then, at Pop's, they had a really emotional moment where they opened up to each other and kissed and that made my day. ❤️. #bugheadforever

*Betty* is probably the closest to her original character but in Riverdale she is a lot more shy and meek. the original Betty is very upbeat and outgoing, in this show she seems like a pushover.
*Veronica* is supposed to act like a bimbo most of the time... I know that's not necessarily a good thing, but I feel she only does it to get attention in the comics because she can be a very insightful person. Either way, she was a lot funnier in the older renditions and I miss that about her.
*Jughead* is way too sad and deep and tortured in this series imo; I get they went for the whole 'he comes from troubled past' narrative here, but it's kind of obvious he does. I feel the old Jughead was also more upbeat and less mopey, more of a clown at times which balanced out the characters.
*Archie* don't even get me started... he acts like he should be in special ed; he doesn't understand anything, he has trouble making up his mind about anything and he is barley included in any of the main plot themes if you guys haven't noticed. He doesn't feel like he's part of the gang, just some insecure emotional kid with no charisma or personality.
