    Love both, and like most everyone I will say there is a time and place for both. I recently ordered a Superior Gear hammock system to use this fall and winter. I am like a child Christmas Eve waiting on it to arrive. Tent wise I have a Nemo Dagger OSMO 3 person tent for tent camping. If I am by myself I have a ton of room, but it is also great for taking my wife and son out. Pack weight on the tent is 4lbs 10ozs which for the ultralight crowd is super heavy for a single person to carry, but it works for this old Marine.

    I just put this on a fb add that bb has. I got my klymit hammock a few weeks ago and I love it. I live in az so I don't really have to camp anywhere it's too cold so I never get cold butt syndrom plus we do have critter like snakes and scorpions so sleeping off the ground is nice not to mention the desert landscape doesn't make for very soft ground. Thanks BB yeehaw

    This is one of those right tool for the job situations. That said hammocks are awsome for quick setup and tents are awsome for extended stay or super cold weather. I cant recommend the Onetigris Tegimen enough. Kinda gives you the best of both worlds and I can run it right off the back of my vehicle when I am going that route for sleeping.

    There's equal Pro's and Con's to both... My primary camp is a Onewind 12ft double wide hammock with 10x13 ft tarp, and the over & underquilts. I have back and neck injuries from the military and unless the peak of the tent/tarp tent is at least 4.5 to 5 ft tall I've got twist & crawl to get in/out. Also it's easier to hump the necessaries for the hammock. The major con to the hammock is that it takes longer to hang & "adjust" (even with a permanent ridgeline) to achieve the most comfortable diagonal flat lay. I loved the Onewind so much I acquired a second... that I leave up in my yard, adjusted to near perfection for a flat lay and a semi side/stomach lay, and I can stand up straight underneath the tarp (I'm 5'8") - no bending or crawling.

    When I was younger, hammock all the way, but now that I'm as old as the dirt I'm camping on, I need a tent. A tent with a cot in it. A stove, I also need a stove. Air-conditioning, or at least a good fan. Oh the with it, I need a big ol class A with all the bells and whistles! 😊😅😂😂😂😅😮😢

    Funny story: few weeks ago went out got to a spot when it was kinda dark, set up base, tarp, hammock, went to bed. Sometime in the night started raining, when it was light enough I went to climb out of my hammock I had stretched in-between two trees about 20 feet apart and didn't realize I had done so on a low point where rain water had built up under me and created about 2 foot puddle directly under me 😅😅😅 camp was fine on a high point of the area but my hammock was flying over a small pond essentially so anyway I had to pack up in muddy conditions that day. Had mud up to my knees

    I own both. They both have their own pros and cons. I'd go with a hammock for first choice. It matters mostly what
    type of environment you'll be residing in. Hammocks require something to be tied to off the ground. While tents
    require a reasonably level, smooth even ground to situate it.
    For comfort, the hammock excels.. For extreme weather conditions, I'd prefer a tent.

    • @Derchlands
      @Derchlands Год назад

      I totally disagree with the weather part. In a hammock you can pitch your tarp first, then your hammock and sleep system. This way everything is dry and you can change out of your wet clothes before you get in your hammock so you are 100% dry.
      In a tent, you set it up in the rain so moisture is getting in, even if it's a model that can have the fly go up first then you have to get into it with your wet clothes, so you are going to bring moisture in.
      In a hammock you are above wet ground and in a tent a river can run under your tent. No matter the material under your tent when extreme rain hits people always seem to have water in their tent.

      @@Derchlandsfor rain the hammock and tarp for sure, but heavy wind can make being in the woods risky.
      Granted you can pitch a tarp like a tent and keep it low but your on the wet ground and you might not have a sleep mat.

    Cons to tents are rain water runoff in heavy showers, wildlife interference. Pros to hammocks, add a tarp tent over hammock, tie up gear and food above large wildlife access. Tents are good too for more domestic areas and when mesh sealed from insects and snakes.
