    Kuga-san, you are getting less shy in your later videos. Originally, we didn't see you at all. This progressed to seeing the back of your head, and now a brief glimpse of you napping. I know shyness is often an Asian trait, but it's nice to see you do cameos in almost every video now.

    Not only is the $100 price tag on the compartment a great deal if you travel with your family, but for certain places in Europe if you book even just a regular 1st class seat in an open design carriage that might already run you those same ~90 Euros (for the same 3 hour journey) without any of the privacy, without the guaranteed windows seat, no real table etc. so I consider this a phenomenal deal.

    Kuga-san your videos have a very Japanese form of minimalism which I came to love. I started to watch your videos for the trains but now I watch them for the ambient sounds. I really love that you avoid any music or effects and prefer stillness as much as possible. Sometimes you place your camera in angles which reminds me of Ozu's movies. Thanks to your videos I know how it feel like living in Japan without even setting foot there 🙂

      I lived in Australia in the 1960s. We travelled across the Nullabor in both directions. The first time going on the Southern Aurora up to Sydney from Melbourne. Our cabins had a shower in so we did not have to march up and down the corridor. The reverse journey we had the double-decker
      train. Our cabin
      was smaller on this one though.
      We travelled through Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie. I believe there is a different track these days
      That was a great memory for me. Thanks.

    Such a cool channel. I was so close to visiting Japan one point myself. I had experience with modeling and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity to visit Asia.

    Train cancelled because of a fallen tree on the track? Are you sure you weren’t filming in England? “Leaves on the line” is a common excuse here - though a fallen tree would be a super treat to cancel a train!

    • @sapphireseptember
      @sapphireseptember 11 месяцев назад +1

      Leaves on the line is concerning though. It makes the tracks so slippery that even if the driver brakes the train will slide, fine if a bit scary, until you go into the back of another train as happened on Halloween 2021*. Poor driver had life changing injuries. 😟
      Although there was a train in Scotland recently that did crash into a tree on the line. The daughter of the woman who's tree it was (her garden backed onto the tracks) phoned up to report it, but no one thought to pass the message on. Ten minutes later along comes the train, although the driver had the presence of mind to dive behind his chair and escaped injury, and no one else was injured, at least not severely.
      Edited as I put Halloween 2020, when it was actually Halloween 2021. There was a crash in August 2020 as well, where three people sadly died. Had it not been during lockdown it may well have been a lot worse.

    There is no reason nor reasonable excuse why the U.K. cannot have trains like this - looking at these trains and looking at the current poor state of the U.K. rail network, by comparison I can only react with despair and frustration at how bad our trains are here in the U.K. - clearly, radical action is needed to bring the U.K. rail network up to these acceptable international standards

      Small, homogenous societies are able to more effectively manage public institutions, and private institutions that are communal in nature. The US, for example, is a mess because its people continue to try to pretend it’s one large society, and can’t get anything done because of it. If the US realized that they only really needed to collectively work together on key things that are intrinsically collective in nature, the results might be better.
      But instead, things like Amtrak are outdated garbage because everyone is warring for those dollars for everything under the sun.

      $100 compared to the £ is what? £75-80. For 3-4 hours in basically a hotel room on tracks?
      That's as much as I'd pay to sit in some uncomfortable seat stained with...lord knows what, in a carriage that stinks of the chavs a few seats down puffing on weed.
