Remember that those cars are "vintage" items that need to be looked after too... They pushed the cars pretty hard on the straights but we wouldn't want to damage them either ;)
Look how bugattis and Alfa's are chucked around goodwood, these cars were built to be driven hard, not kept looking brand new and treated like museum pieces
I swear Mercedes is like the only company that I know that is brave enough to bring out their racecars and let modern F1 drivers to drive them. I mean its not the the modern F1 drivers dont know how to drive obviously but even for them this is such a difficult task and they weren't even up to speed lol
Unreal... You've given us some pretty amazing access to a lot of the behind the scenes stuff so far this year; thanks! Any chance we will get some dyno videos of the 2014-spec engine anytime soon?
Magnesium alloy No harness wanted Same as with Dan's Eagle F-1 car Think of Hans Hermann leaping from his car at The Avus hairpin one year.. The poor chap who bought the farm in the magnesium Honda, French GP 1968... Archie Scott Brown jumping when things got too hairy.. Another era... Poor Dick Seaman at Spa.... J.C.
My guess is, why Lewis' car was noisy when shifting is because of an unsynced gearbox, he shouldved pushed down the throttle a little while switching gears
@@bobbestofbobs Haha, exactly. How about Lewis being so pissed that he asked to remove Nico from conducting after race interviews, because he felt uncomfortable.
No! By its introduction at the 1954 French GP the 2,496.87 cc (152.368 cu in) (76.0×68.8 mm) desmodromic valves straight 8 delivered 257 bhp (192 kW). An eventual 340 bhp (250 kW) at 10,000 rpm was targeted for the 2.5-litre F1 motor.
Yes, and at the same time, 'vintage' cars need their 'tubes' blowing out once in a while... What better time to do it than with two professional F1 drivers???
mir würd dis so auf n zeiger gehn wenn mir dauernd einer sagt wie ich fahren soll oder was WIR beim fahren für eine strategie anpeilen ... rrrrr* .. long live emperor Kimi >8P
Cor, faulty gearbox? He was honored by given a more difficult car to drive! Lewis couldn't handle the gearbox (not that a driver of his caliber couldn't learn it). I guess you think that Caracciola, Nuvolari, Seaman, von Brauchitsch and Lang were just some dumb lucky sods to drive that car to numerous race wins and a championship in 38/39. Another Nazi conspiracy eh? (tyred of being metred by imbeciles)
Safer car? Safety wasn't anything they gave a crap about when building these things. Crash any of these two cars at anything above snailspeed and you're done for good.
Nice of Nico and Lewis to take that 2019 Williams for a spin.
Remember that those cars are "vintage" items that need to be looked after too... They pushed the cars pretty hard on the straights but we wouldn't want to damage them either ;)
Not like you can't rebuild them, or you lost the blueprints?
Please do more videos like this.

@@willdeane121 But... They are museum pieces.
AwpitheAwper It doesn’t really matter if you can, these are 60+ year old cars and they’re special.
My favorite line, "The safety is absolutely zero".

The "Safety" is in the Driver's hands as it should be.
The full radio transcript is now in the description!
What fantastic images! Seeing those two beautiful cars on the banking was really something!
Unreal? That's 100% analog and real! Like an ergonomic toilet cockpit for them.
Imagine driving that at its limit for two hours. Beautiful both!

Juan Manuel Fangio 🇦🇷🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 ¡¡¡ FANTASTIC !!!
"Mit der Gangschaltung, weisch des no Niggo?"

boss!
There won't be any dyno videos but we have a sound recording synced to a lap in our driver sim... Check out the channel for more info
The engine on these are amazing
Love this team :) Love Rosberg and love Lewis :)
That was awesome wish I could watch these go flat out instead of the new cars playing with tyres
Unreal...

Oh yeah must be that, because im sure you have more more experience changing gear in race cars than Lewis Hamilton.
Sure because every racecar driver in the world drove a car with an unsynchronized gearbox before...you know because we're still living in the 30'
* 50's
Blaggstar People still do Heel and Toe and double clutch, it's not something that was left in the 50's.
That's true though hes never been racing on a non sequential gearbox with a pedal clutch in his career
Hang on, the brake pedal is on the right?! That’s asking for trouble...
Waow Just Waow
Could you please let them drive this car at least on some "safe" track? would be nice to see onboard from it in faster speed:) Must be amazing!
These... Red Arrows, they have a good life. ;)
I want to see a modern f1 car with a wood wheel. Damn the weight
what has happened to the microphone?
nice to see Nico and Lewis getting along... unlike at Redbull with Seb and Mark... too much drama!
Oh boy, this comment aged well

You saw the storm, but, you didn't see the Tsunami.
@@bobbestofbobs They are good now when not racing
did you notice the Viano with the Alfa 156 ass?? It's marvellous!!! ;-)
Lewis is wrecking that masterpiece, the technicians should have instructed him to operate the double clutch.
Were they using 1950s radio technology?
Is this the only desmo mercy?

is he telling nico how to shift in stick?
Yes at the beginning, he sad it in German:)

what a strange camber angle

really? these machines are made for racing not for museum cruise...they need to be pushed harder than ever...parts can always be replaced or made new

Well....that sucked.
wow they gave Nico a safer car that worked and Lewis got an older more dangerous version with a faulty gearbox, what a surprise...........
korzer Lewis was trying to change gear without double de-clutching, this is why it wouldn't go into gear.
