I just want to thank you for your inspiration, last year I picked up a 99 heritage springer evo and with your videos I have been able to do almost a full rebuild on the bike, 82,000 miles on it when I got it and it has been the best experience being able to get it back to stock, thank you again. Keep up the great work on the channel and keep inspiring others, outstanding work sir. 🙏🏾🤙🏾
The base gasket leak on the Evo is usually caused by not warming them up enough. The cylinders "grow," if you flog it before they've reached operating temp base gaskets are guaranteed to give up. Was a very common problem with the Evo almost always traceable to improper warm up.
Got 97,000 on my 95 heritage. Mild cam , adjustable pushrods , new cam bearing in at 20,000. Just put new lifters in at 95,000 ( stock one were still good) Exhaust , Stage 1 kit, everything else is as I got it from the factory. Just normal maintenance ( Fluids , filters, tires, brakes)
I ride vintage bikes all the time. When they were knew they were made to be transportation. I have almost 400,000 miles on my Sportster and God knows how many miles on my Triumph TR6 650. I've had the Triumph for 40 years. Split the cases 20 years ago because the cam had worn out. The camshafts only lasted fifty years imagine that. I have a Fairbanks Morse Magneto on that bike and it is first kick. When I go to a Harley event with it everyone tells me I have the coolest fights there and I already know that. I love it when I go to leave and I kick start my bike and everybody has their phones out recording. As long as you maintain them properly you can ride old bikes forever.
The amount of knowledge in the Harley community is amazing. Love both of my bikes, the 18 Lowrider and the 97 Heritage Classic...wouldn't trade them for the world.
I have just began my journey with an evo, should be good to go in the spring time. Hopefully it will not need anything for a while. I am doing seals, cam, and the like.
I bought a 1998 FLHC NEW and I still ride it. 100,000 miles on lt. Done all maintenance my self. What ever it needs. Love it. I have owned four Harley Davidson. Three twin cam bikes. But I still prefer my EVO. NOT SAYING THAT THE TWIN CAMS ARE BAD. BUT I LOVE RIDING MY EVOLUTION THE MOST!
Look at at all the green, green grass, clear pavement, I have swapped my bike for a Cat 16M grader for the winter, snow removal ride lol. already tired on snow and it only the first month in for the year.
It took me 30yrs to warm up enough to the Blockhead engine to finally buy a '97 Wideglide. I love it, and it allowed me to semi- retire my '72 FLH I've had since 1980 and give it a well deserved restoration. I also bought an '02 Twinkie Softail Springer, but got rid of it after 2 months because it just didn't have it. They can keep anything made after the Evo.
It's a funny old do...but after 70+ years of owning and riding all my various motorcycles, British and Japanese, every day, I have never had to take them off the road, and rebuild them as all my many Harley-Davidson Chums are prone, (constantly), to do! I have been following all of Harley's History since 1902...and the introduction of the "Twin Cam "with all its complications and expense has always been a total mystery to me after the simplicity of the previous models; Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead, and early Evos up to 1999! Even the complication of the "Sportsers " with their mass of gears and cam--followers, always disappoints me! At the age of 88, now, my present, 1996, (!985-2012, Honda CMX250C Rebel, (Daisy), fulfils all my daily FUN needs, every time I press the starter button, with nary a thought of a break-down or dismantling her for a re-build, etc! At least the latest Harley M8 finally got it right, with a single, 4-lobe camshaft..like the previous Evos...! Take care, all my Biker Chums, and ride safe!.... (Like I do!)...😊....😊...! Paul...from England!
I had to split the cases on my Triumph TR6 when it was 50 years old because the camshafts were wore out. No special tools were required. I learned a lot carrying that engine down and putting it back together. It's one of my bikes I will have to my dying day. Like my Sportster t o o.
I have never touched the top end on my Sportster even though I've had it 20 plus years and have 400,000 miles on it. I changed the oil twice a year and the filter every other time and it just keeps going and going and going like the Energizer Bunny.
I personally ride a twin cam and find it easy to work on. That being said never had to open it up though. So all work completed on other components. You made a trade that made you happy so thats all that matters. Ride on!

I rebuilt my 97 Evo (FLSTF) last winter.... It had 88K on it when I bought it and I rebuilt everything except the crank bearings and rod journal. New topend, totally rebuilt heads, new guts in the entire cam chest, lifter blocks new, oil pump is new. Pushrods new... I'm tackling everything inside the primary this winter and changing the front tire. It ain't cheap doing all of this except for the money I save doing my own labor, but I trust my bike completely and I know almost every square inch of it.... The wrenching compliments my riding experience. One without the other just wouldn't be as satisfying
I have a 2013 103 Twin Cam & a 1993 Evo. Both Electra Glides. I love my Evo, I’ve tried to update every nut and bolt whenever I work on it. But I have to admit, I’m always having one problem or another with it. My Twin Cam, just the opposite. Of course I stay up on maintenance with both. I’m currently traveling for the unforeseeable future on my Twin Cam. Any upgrade I do has to support the traveling I’m doing. The Twin Cam is way more reliable. When you’re traveling with a bike, only, it’s all about reliability. I love to wrench on my Evo, but I feel much safer on my Twin Cam. I’m actually coming your way in the next couple months. Love to hang out and have a cold one.
Your bike is an extension of you. Everybody likes what they like. As long as you're happy who cares whatever everybody else thinks. If I had a garage like you I would have a bunch of bikes to Tinker with two. I'd really love to build me a road tripping Cruiser with a 74 or earlier Honda CB750 with a kicker on it. I've got a Heritage Softail '94 too, with 158.000 kms., and I'm very happy with her. I never thought she'd give so much satisfaction with so few problems. I remember when I saw your swap 3 years ago, then I said: "Éste es de los míos" 😉. Thanks for your vids Trump!
Something about just how much simpler the older motors are. The new bikes just don't have the charm. It's nice not having to wrench, but I like being in tune with my harley and knowing that I'm going through her as I need to. Keep up the good work dude!
@@SaddleTrampTV thanks for showing the ups and downs of owning these old harleys, you're one of a few youtubers that have motivated me to get in the game with HD. I picked up a 73 flh shovelhead a few months ago and I can't wait to take the long journey with it!
I had an 85 evo..sold to buy a 07 electra twin cam Wish I kept the 85 So I went and bought a 87 evo Evo good motor Got others but we ain't talking about in this episode Cool video
Great info Brother,I’ve never rode an EVO so I really can’t compare to a twin Cam but I own a 2003 Heritage Softail Classic 100 year Anniversary Edition and it has the 88B and the Bike is amazing, rode to Myrtle Beach this past summer from Northern Ohio and it rode like a dream,Thanks again and Ride Safe!
When it comes to mechanical vehicles I love and have a passion for…if I can’t rebuild it and maintain it myself, I don’t want it! I refuse to be at the mercy of a dealership or independent shop. Build em and ride em. I’m the captain of this ship! I definitely can relate Tramp.
I don’t know that I want to go much further back than an Evo. I dig me some twin cam. Really only need to change the cam chain tensioner and keep fresh oil in it and they will run for ever.
I've got a 2013 Road king fuel injected 103 ci. Great bike my all time favorite 45k miles in the 5 yrs I've had it. Picked up a 96 softail with 80 ci Evo. Huge difference in power between to the 2 bikes. That little softail is light wgt (
I love seeing your 94. I inherited a 94 heritage from my dad and it's a great bike. The engine runs strong and its super easy to work on. I just wish someone made a rubber engine mount kit because the vibration is crazy compared my other bikes.
@Remington Steel True, my dad had the top end done due to some piston slap and did cams while he was at it. The shop couldnt find any issues with the bottom end and It's been another 35k miles since then with no major issues. My best bet is to upgrade to a 6 speed, lower rpm = less felt vibration for sure.
I work on my 98 FLSTC myself. The first thing I ever did on it was the compensator, chain, tensioner, and clutch altogether. Harley dealership just about destroyed the motor but I rebuilt it and it's back to stock specs once again. I thought that was going to be a nightmare but it wasn't that bad getting it back together. I have no desire to buy a newer bike. I'm like you ST I want a Panhead next...Old School 4ever
You are one of the most experienced and knowledgeable old bike guys I know. A few videos ago, I suggested you stop working on all the old bikes that keep breaking down, but I see how much you love it. So keep on keeping on brother. This was a really interesting and enjoyable video. I always watch your videos to the end. I don't know why anyone wouldn't. Stay safe and keep that rubber side down. Peace
Corey, great to know you're happy. Always like seeing you both in the garage and out on the road. Both must be happy places for you. They certainly are for us. Thanks for Sharing!
I had a 99 Electra Glide several years ago. It had a rebuilt Evo with an Andrews EV27 cam. Fully loaded and 2 up, it easily kept up with the TC 96's and 103's even in the mountains of North GA and TN. I highly recommend that combination!
So for a while now I've been going back, and forth on where I want to go with my 05 FLHRSI Road King Custom. Did the cam chest. But still stuck with cam adjuster springs, and there was something you said in a previous video. About how while on the twin cam ya wanna pass everything, but on the Evo it was more relaxed. Anyway, put the TC up for sale to just see...sold it. Bought a 1998 FLSTC last Saturday, and am enjoying the hell outta it. Love that motor. Thanks for the inspiration, keep up the cool vids.
You could not have said it better, and you know I feel the same way. I just did that 5000 mile trip on my 97 Dyna, and except for that starter issue the engine ran flawlessly. Been riding only evos since 1990. and they sound better than the new ones. Good video. Stay safe.
I am hoping you do film getting your Shovelhead back together. I miss the old days (before your old shed was demolished) when you showed more wrenching...showing how a job is done is always more interesting than hearing about it after the fact....
I'm a Twin Cam fan. My 103 has almost 75k on it and has been rock solid. I also have a late model Evo that's been reliable so far. With that said, I really like your softail.. I think I told you that when I saw it in person. lol.
I find the older I get and I'm 60 this year. I'm more into older bikes. I have a 2016 103 twin street glide. But I just purchased a 1989 heritage softtail. With 80 evo. I'm not a mechanic but I'm learning this bike and doing the work myself. I can understand where your coming from. I just don't like the new bikes of today. Thks for your videos.
Dude everyone changed there mind over and over on that trip last minute we decided north Georgia to Knoxville then to Nashville it was fun but still didn’t do Natchez Trace on a bike did it in my pickup and was closed from Mississippi to Nashville in places. So it’s still on bucket list for a bike ride
You're exactly right when you say that you can build an EVO with just common tools I mean there is simple as a lawn mower engine I love that you know engines I truly do they last forever and if you do have enough I want to tear it down and rebuild it you can do it right in your garage so I think you made a wise choice buddy I really do besides that bike is sweet looking God bless you my friend keep the rubber side down LOL
I absolutley love this video :) I'm exactly the same I'm in my early 30s ride a 1927 Norton 16h flat tanker daily ride a 1967 Norton 650SS, had modern bikes inc Isle of Man TT bikes the latest Beemers, just bought a 2005 1150GSA older tech easier to work on which is lucky because I got screwed over by a dealer on it, I wouldn't have liked I think there's alot of us feeling the same way just to much stuff being loaded on the bikes now, I'm currently thinking about an older Harley myself, n moving away from the adv stuff thanks for the video super informative as always greetings from the UK.
about 5 engine yrs. ago i ended up with a new bike a EVO what great engine let them warm uo properly base gasket won t leak before that flat heads ,pan heads, shovel heads is what i ve always rode all great engines if taking care of HAPPY TRA[LS
ive ridden a few 1340 evos before deciding when buying my first harley they sound mad but dont really pick up quick didn't do a thing for me honestly speaking everyone to their own i purchased my 09 fxd 96 TC its still running well after 13 years will probally see me out had a mate with same bike do over 160,000 kms on it here in Austraila owned lots of big four cylinder bikes over forty years cant beat the harleys for nice cruising thou
i didnt know they stopped using Timkins in 02. i thought it was in 07 when they started with the pressed crank. good to know though. i have been considering several different bikes to get. of the Harleys, its the RoadKing. i like the look and sound of the TC. the M8 is ok and from what i have heard the less vibes from the engine could be better for me in the long run. Arthritis is bad in my family and i struggle with my grip and no matter what shoes i wear my feet always hurt. so a smoother engine could be my best bet comfort wise. there is no way i can afford a new bike so im looking at wrecked bikes. getting one cheap enough to me means i can use money to convert back to Timkin bearing , cam, cam plate and oil pump. it will still have the head aches of a EFI, gobs of wires and plugs but being newer shops are more likely to have parts / work on it if i needed it. that is my thought process any way. i have heard the EVOs are very reliable and when they do break they are cheap to fix but they dont like compression/bore kits. which i have thought about Ultima EVOs which were made to handle the bigger power or rebuild an engine with S&S cases. bad thing about either of them is $$$ lol. the good and bad thing about Harley is too many options lol. i guess could have several Harleys so i have a backup for a backup if one breaks lol. but im just dreaming now lol. good vid man
Don't blame you a bit for trading for Evo and I doubt you'll ever regret it. I lucked out and unknowingly got the best of years. 2002 Road King and 1999 Evo Fatboy. Put Screamin Eagle cam plate before shoes went so it's all good. Ya have to admit the Evo sounds cool. Great vid.
I looked up the HP of a 45ci. It was 18 to 25 HP depends on the year. Mph was 70 to 80. So lord wills an the creek don't rise im thinking of a 25 to 30 HP motor nailed to a DD7 Baker 7 speed . new motor is less than 2 grand .any way that or a good used bike. We'll see as soon as I pay off this truck. Good to see U living the dream. Tits up.
I've ridden shovels most of my 40 plus years of riding, I'm riding a 2017 twin cam now. There's really not that much difference in pulling the engines apart for rebuilding!
It’s like an addiction lol. I started with an evo, went to shovelheads and now I have the strong desire to go to a panhead 😅. Riding wise the newer has its advantages (ergonomically) but do lack in the vibes you get. like you said I love the simplicity when it comes to wrenching.
I’m with you man. I love my 99 FATBOY. I don’t need to plug it into a computer to adjust anything. Don’t get me wrong I love the fuel injection on my truck and boat and their is a lot to be said about twin cams on any motor. FOR ME……I love the simplicity of the 1340 cc, 80 cubic inch evolution. They are as dependable as gravity.
That 94 is a good evo! But I hear a little hesitation in your voice you still are somewhat fine of twin cans!? Either or different strokes for different folks as long as you're riding you're right in my book, just drive safe rock on good brother
Rule number 1: Out of all people you've gotta keep happy there's yourself and the missus, and that's about it, but... Rule number 2: Of course keeping other people happy is a virtue, but everybody has got the same task basically : Rule number 1 and after that Rule number 2. It really is impossible to keep everybody happy, so therefor there's Rule number 1 and 2. The more you focus on Rule number 1, the easier Rule number 2 will get. The feeling of happiness radiates from you and the happier you and the missus are the more this feeling of happiness is contagious and spreads among others and so without knowing you spread happiness wherever you are, but it all comes down on Rule number 1; Get the stuff you like personally. Ignore opinions of other people, because you're obligated to yourself to for fill your own Rule number 1 and so other people with their opinions basically stand in their own way to receive happiness from you when they keep on telling you, you should do the things they would do to for themselves for fill their own Rule Number 1. Are you still with me here...? ;-) Yeah, this is a very complicated way to say: you do what you think you should do ;-) !
Great video ! I'm happy to support you and other fellow content creators. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from your channel in the future ; keep up the great work and ride safe out there ...
I get it now. At first I thought "what a mistake". I loved my 103HP. It had the factory stage 2 cam albeit mild. Everyone should have your mindset about riding and just enjoying the bike. A lot of RUclipsrs are going down the rabbit hole of "mine is faster, bigger, better, shiny'er". (I take a weird satisfaction in watching some guys blow theirs up). They will never be happy. I will just keep doing upgrades for longevity when I have to. BTW, I love the sound of an EVO. The M8 was actually designed after the EVO because of it's simplicity.
I have 80 inch evo I ended up after a bike wreck, which is a long story.I love mine,50000 miles and burns very little oil,and keeps going.I can say that it will rattle every bolt off the damn thing if your not paying attention.I love it,I think I am going to buy another Evo.
an old buddy of mine (a former professional harley mechanic who still turns a wrench now and then) was working in a daytona dealership whe the first twin cams came out. all the techs were pissed. he said it was the dumbest thing harley did changing from the evo. we both feel that an evo could be upgraded to hang with a tc 88 but i don't own any harleys. im considering a 99 tc 88 in a deuce. last motor with the good crank i think.
Well I've had shovelheads. And one twin cam and three evolution motors in different frames. It's a nice balance between doing a little work and ride as much as you want the EVO motor. Now if you don't want to do any work at all then probably the twin cam but I like to tinker and like to change things so I think the Evo is hands down the best... . on the twin cam and 45,000 it was about ready to go ,,the inner cam tensioner shoe was almost shot the motor was almost gone. thank goodness I bought the extended warranty,, otherwise it would have been a 3500 bill and I would have had to pay it. That's my story..
That 5 finger clutch hub is gonna make a big difference when shifting your shovelhead. The only difference between my Evo and my 2 Twincams is fuel injection, neither one has ABS brakes and neither one leaks oil, one is a 2012 RK and a 1999 Electra-Glide. My Evo leaks a little tranny oil.
Inside joke, I don't think you intended. You said rebuild a bike and take it across state lines. Lol! State lines from you could mean 30 miles. Lmao! Love when I get to cross paths with you. Keep up the good work! I always look forward to your next vid.
They say, if you say it often enough you believe it . Having had high tech Japanese, BMW and modern Harley Davidson motorcycles, you may ask what's in the shed now? X2 shovelhead, an Evo RK and an old BMW. Modern, is push the button and go, no worries but there is no soul. Older tech, you live and feel the bike beneath you and yes, they give me bigger smiles and a happy heart when on a run, PS; They can also make you visit the side of the road more often.
That used to be one of the main points of having a Harley is simplicity. The evo is rock solid engine.
Twin cams are rock solid too. Once you do the camchest and bottom end haha
@@Frankfoot986 yes. I've owned one.

Something about just how much simpler the older motors are. The new bikes just don't have the charm. It's nice not having to wrench, but I like being in tune with my harley and knowing that I'm going through her as I need to. Keep up the good work dude!
You're right. Being in tune is the sweet spot
@@SaddleTrampTV thanks for showing the ups and downs of owning these old harleys, you're one of a few youtubers that have motivated me to get in the game with HD. I picked up a 73 flh shovelhead a few months ago and I can't wait to take the long journey with it!
I had an 85 evo..sold to buy a 07 electra twin cam
Wish I kept the 85
So I went and bought a 87 evo
Evo good motor
Got others but we ain't talking about in this episode
Cool video
I hear ya man. Don't blame ya one bit.
Swapped a 2004 FXDWG for a 1982 FXB, never looked back.
I soak the clutch plates for my British bikes in oil as well I was taught that by an old-timer who was an old British bike mechanic.
That video was my introduction to your content. Keep up the good work 👏.
Awesome! Thank you!
Well said!
That little softail is light wgt (
Yeah I hear ya. My 94 heritage is like wearing a pair of shoes compared to the 103 heritage I used to own.
I love that you are keeping old bikes alive. I have a ‘74 shovel, ‘89 Sporty and ‘04 Deuce. The shovel os gonna teach me the most.
Thanks, man. And yes it will.
I love seeing your 94. I inherited a 94 heritage from my dad and it's a great bike. The engine runs strong and its super easy to work on. I just wish someone made a rubber engine mount kit because the vibration is crazy compared my other bikes.
I hear ya, man.
I have a 95 roadking,and my 2 local dealerships won't touch it,besides the 3 oil changes.i wanted the 30,000 mile going threw.they won't do it
Sad how the coorperation is strong arming people to buy the latest thing.
I'm about to ride my '97 Springer to the west coast and up to Oregon and back from Louisiana. About to find out what kind of mechanic I am...
Just traded my 04 twin cam softail for a 93 dyna low rider. I fell in love with the Evo the moment we fired it up.
Nice!!
Peace
Thank you, Eric.
Corey, great to know you're happy. Always like seeing you both in the garage and out on the road. Both must be happy places for you. They certainly are for us. Thanks for Sharing!
Happy places indeed. Thank you, Craig.
I had a 99 Electra Glide several years ago. It had a rebuilt Evo with an Andrews EV27 cam. Fully loaded and 2 up, it easily kept up with the TC 96's and 103's even in the mountains of North GA and TN. I highly recommend that combination!
I love my 94 too and I love your honest sincere review and I must agree with you the Evo over the twins
There's just something about those old EVOs. I love my 1996 FLSTN. Still a great trade Tramp ✌😎
I think I told you that when I saw it in person. lol.
Gotta own what ya like regardless of the chatter out there.....Good to see you found yours....I'm a twin Cam fan myself but I hear you on the Evo
Been going backwards for years. Since I was old enough to know better. Enjoyed the video Saddle Tramp.
Heck yeah, man!
Right on, Steve. Thanks
evo 80 is just plain reliable, easy to work on - plenty of power with just an exhaust, carb jet kit, and cam
I'm with you love the old iron.
Ive never road a right foot shift bike here in England.. love the builds though lookin forward to the next
Good to see you enjoying all your bikes. Take care...Ride Safe!
Thanks, you too!
God bless you brother we both have 94 heritage's maybe one of these days I'll get to meet you at Bike Week in Ormond Beach
Maybe. Who knows?
Experience is everything & everything is experience.
Enjoy your videos, Tramp !
I looked at and considered anew Harley last year and wound up with an 1996 evo fatboy,, Im as happy as a clam!
I’ve had 4 twin cams. I’m back where I started. 1996 Heritage Softail.
You're the man!
I ride a 99 Electric Glide Standard same as your bagger except for the motor lol but rode a 84 1/2 lo rider loved the evo
about 5 engine yrs. ago i ended up with a new bike a EVO what great engine let them warm uo properly base gasket won t leak before that flat heads ,pan heads, shovel heads is what i ve always rode all great engines if taking care of HAPPY TRA[LS
ive ridden a few 1340 evos before deciding when buying my first harley they sound mad but dont really pick up quick didn't do a thing for me honestly speaking everyone to their own i purchased my 09 fxd 96 TC its still running well after 13 years will probally see me out had a mate with same bike do over 160,000 kms on it here in Austraila owned lots of big four cylinder bikes over forty years cant beat the harleys for nice cruising thou
glad you're still happy with your decision sir ! well done 🎉
Me too!
i didnt know they stopped using Timkins in 02. i thought it was in 07 when they started with the pressed crank. good to know though. i have been considering several different bikes to get. of the Harleys, its the RoadKing. i like the look and sound of the TC. the M8 is ok and from what i have heard the less vibes from the engine could be better for me in the long run. Arthritis is bad in my family and i struggle with my grip and no matter what shoes i wear my feet always hurt. so a smoother engine could be my best bet comfort wise. there is no way i can afford a new bike so im looking at wrecked bikes. getting one cheap enough to me means i can use money to convert back to Timkin bearing , cam, cam plate and oil pump. it will still have the head aches of a EFI, gobs of wires and plugs but being newer shops are more likely to have parts / work on it if i needed it. that is my thought process any way. i have heard the EVOs are very reliable and when they do break they are cheap to fix but they dont like compression/bore kits. which i have thought about Ultima EVOs which were made to handle the bigger power or rebuild an engine with S&S cases. bad thing about either of them is $$$ lol. the good and bad thing about Harley is too many options lol. i guess could have several Harleys so i have a backup for a backup if one breaks lol. but im just dreaming now lol. good vid man
I'm glad that you made that trade, you got the better deal in the long run when it comes to quality.i would have done the same thing 👍
Thank you, Bill.
Great vid.
That is awesome, man! Good deal!
I see a lot of riders have 1999 Evos .I was of the understanding that Evos finished in 1998,apart from the fxr-2 or have I got it wrong.
@@lescooper8178 99 was a split year. First year of the twincam and last year for the evo.
@@SaddleTrampTV might be elsewhere but never seen one of that year in NZ,thanks for clearing that up for me
Keep the videos coming. We really like Your videos in N.C. Thanks for Sharing.
Thanks, will do!
Omg.. has it been 3 years!? I watched for a while before you changed out the twink.
Tits up.
I have a 97 Wide Glide
Nice!
+1 EVO. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
Have owned my '98 Springer Softail since new. It has 75000 on it and the motor still doesn't burn any oil. And yes I wail on it sometimes.
Right on, Tom!
My First Harley was a 1980 Sportster. Now riding my 1983 FXWG.
You're than man!
That 94 is a good evo! But I hear a little hesitation in your voice you still are somewhat fine of twin cans!? Either or different strokes for different folks as long as you're riding you're right in my book, just drive safe rock on good brother
Just an honest 3 year perspective coming from experience. But so far, I'm still good where I'm at.
That twin cam you had was nice as a mother! But I understand why you did the trade evo is easier to work on and they're pretty darn reliable....
Are you still with me here...? ;-)
Yeah, this is a very complicated way to say: you do what you think you should do ;-) !
Great video ! I'm happy to support you and other fellow content creators. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from your channel in the future ; keep up the great work and ride safe out there ...
Thank you, I will
I get it now.
Thanks, man. That's funny... "a weird satisfaction in watching some guys blow their's up." Dig it.
RIP HD Inc, 1903-1999. EVO's Forever, with a Carb.
I have 80 inch evo I ended up after a bike wreck, which is a long story.I love mine,50000 miles and burns very little oil,and keeps going.I can say that it will rattle every bolt off the damn thing if your not paying attention.I love it,I think I am going to buy another Evo.
Right on!
I hear ya my 96ci 08heritage is probably as new as I will ever get
Still got a shovel and like it but like my rice too
Own a 01 Road King stage 2 and 87 FXR and the RK is the "better" bike but ride the FXR more and looking at evo RKs. Gun to my head....evo it is.
an old buddy of mine (a former professional harley mechanic who still turns a wrench now and then) was working in a daytona dealership whe the first twin cams came out. all the techs were pissed. he said it was the dumbest thing harley did changing from the evo. we both feel that an evo could be upgraded to hang with a tc 88 but i don't own any harleys. im considering a 99 tc 88 in a deuce. last motor with the good crank i think.
"The labor of love" 👍
Those tensioner shoes are worse than the INA bearings they started putting in the evos back in the early 90's.
They all leak. Just give them time.
@@SaddleTrampTV I plan on keeping them a long time, so I will keep you posted. Lol
Older tech, you live and feel the bike beneath you and yes, they give me bigger smiles and a happy heart when on a run,
PS; They can also make you visit the side of the road more often.
Side of the road and in the back of pickup trucks. Lol
