Minute Taker reveals the emotional core of the self-penned song:
“It’s about how music and sound can trigger memories and can conjure up someone we’ve lost to make us feel close again - so that we never really lose them”.
Accompanying the release of 'Lead You Home' is Minute Taker’s most ambitious video yet. Directed by John Lochland, it's an emotionally-charged depiction of a gay love story stretching between the 1980s and the 1910s:
“The video explores the dreams of a former World War 1 solider as he lies on his deathbed over 60 years later. He goes back to relive a relationship he once had with a fellow soldier that ended in tragedy”.

A lovely, haunting track.
My family have always told me I look like my Grandad. He died when I was 11 so I only have fuzzy memories of him.
After I came out at 17 my Nan told me and my mum that after she and my Grandad married, his lover, a fellow sailor in the Navy wrote to her.
I think this was her way of telling me that I was all right. A brave thing to do.
I'm sure there are many similar stories of those who coudln't live the life they wanted.

I was in the military and I can say that this is so true!
Now I have tears in my eyes. When I was 21 I fell in love with my university friend. One night after a concert he made a brave step towards me but I blocked it because I didn’t accept being gay back then. I don’t know where he lives today. For me he’s the most beautiful and cute guy I ever knew and thinking about what could have happened that night hurts so much. 😢 This song and video is exactly what I feel.

This hit me hard. Been thinking about the what ifs in my middle age. Revisiting the memories of past love that just didn't work out. The ones that now have passed on. It's bittersweet. Best to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. Thanks Ben.
Same thoughts i have had.
Reached out last year to my very first GF, told her i still think of what we had, and i was deeply sorry for not being the one she (in hindsight) needed.
I wasnt mature enought 23 years ago, but we met.. and we talked, i told her what i needed to, what ive kept burried inside for so many years.. And she let me.. she let me spill all my feelings, all my tears.. and she forgave me.
We're starting becoming friends again, i hope i can keep that friendship for the rest of my life. because the things she taught me, unconsciously they have made an impact on who i am today, how i percieve the world, how i "read" music and such.
And i will never forget her for that.. She opened my eyes (and ears) to a world far grander than i could ever imagine

@@MinuteTakerMusic I came across this track by accident, i'm instantly transported back 25 years ago joining the Royal Navy straight from school where "homosexuality was not campatible with military life".
The relentless fear of being found out, the unbearable shame of falling in love with another man, the soul destroying guilt of never truly loving my "girlfriend". This track had me in tears.

Oh god, this song makes me weep raw and steaming tears for all of the veterans who felt compelled to hide their true love for those they held dearest, but also for so many of my own sad repressions I was forced to observe in a regional town growing up w a Narcissistic father. Retrospect teaches everyone so much, but there are many lost guys I wish I could guide home and my love endures for them no matter what. I love you for this beautiful and haunting song, dear Ben - it's rare to find a fellow hopeless Romantic within a culture devoted to shallow hookups, and I adore you for it 😘❤️😘
