My strat to counter this. Hope this works for ppl who hate mino rush: - Early scouting: If they have 2-3 civs working for favors -> potential mino rush. Do not skip scouting. - Don't panic and mess up your build. The timing for the rush is around 7-8 minutes so if you already scouted their temple, you may have enough time to counteract. - Transition to defensive build asap. - Wall off your base and around your towers. Get your towers upgraded. If you have to hunt outside your base, try not to get spotted. - As Greek: Mass toxs with 2 archery ranges, kite their melee army and kill as many hoplites as you can. If they don't run into your base, move some civs to work for food and train cavalry to raid their base, but don't over make civs without scouting and making sure they can't kill your base. - As Egyptian: Same strat but with 5 Priests and axemen works really well against this as mentioned in some comments here. - As Norse: This will a bit tough against Mino + Toxs but i think two Great Halls into raiding cavalry to raid them or kill their toxs is the best choice. Don't run into their toxs with your Hersirs. Kill the toxs with your towers and cavalry. Minos are slow, they won't kill your cavalry so easy. - As Atlantean: I think Turma and Cheiroballistra build works well against this. Summary: The most important points in my opinion are the first and second. If you know exactly what your opponents do you will have time to decide how you deal with their build. I'm not saying this is the best way to counter mino rush but i believe it's easy to do and don't require much skills. If you have a better counter build feel free to share.
Nice build, I was doing something similar with Hades since the minos get extra hp, but instead of Hoplite I was going Tox's, needless so say I could only kill the enemy army and had to back away since I couldn't destroy any buildings lmao, also your Age2 is 1min faster than mine, gonna steal this o7
Genuine question, with this build, why do we advance so quickly when you could have just 2 more vills and maintain better production from the temple/barracks and still hit the same unit numbers and tech timings? What does the 30 seconds faster up time achieve? Having those 2 extra vills collecting during advance is much better for the eco and more efficient for unit production. Only benefit i can see is an earlier barracks placement, which you aren’t producing from straight away. With this, i feel like you could actually have more hoplites at 6:30 than you do here. This isn’t a criticism, genuine question. I play aoe2 and the builds there are all centred on being able to maintain constant unit production rather than just advancing asap
thanks for the question! in general in aom controling the map early game give you a pretty large advantage, so the sooner you got ur heroes and myth unit out on the map to deny your opponent hunt/gold or other resources and delay his opener the bigger your advantage will be for the rest of the game. in aom this matters a lot more.
Cheat sheet: Dark Age: Set gather point to food 4 villagers to food 1 villager to wood 2 villagers to gold 4 more villagers to food (total 8 on food) 2 more villagers to gold (total 4 on gold) Build temple 2 more villagers to gold (total 6 on gold) 2 villagers to temple for favor Build house Advance to Atina (15 villagers total) Classical Age Move 3 villagers from food to wood (5 food, 4 wood, 6 gold) Build military barracks ASAP Create Mintaur and hide in temple Build another house Produce villagers to reach 8 on food again Create 3 more Mintaurs (4 total) Start producing Hoplites Add 2 more villagers to favor (total 4 on favor) Add villagers to gold (aim for 10-11 total) Research Labyrinth of Minos upgrade Research range upgrade for Hoplites Add second barracks when possible Bolt second Greek hero Tips Hide Mintaurs in temple to surprise enemy Keep producing villagers, Mintaurs, and Hoplites Attack when you have a sizable force Use Restoration ability when Mintaurs are low on health Aim to destroy enemy TC around 9 minutes
Could you explain why hops? My first guess would be archers would go with them to snipe down enemy heroes and priests that are running away, so curious if they serve an important role!
Zeus has hoplite bonus for example bonus damage vs buildings and they move 15% faster so combined with the mino upgrade you have a very fast army consisting of minos and hoplites, later on you can also add in tox for backline support, with Hades youll have stronger minotaurs but also stronger tox, so with hades you'd better opt into tox.
with this strat i would say its better to just stay in classic and keep adding more minos and hoplites and then adding 2 archery ranges and make tox to back ur frontline up
I've had to make a hard counter because of this video. Isis with multiple upgraded priests and axemen with first shield upgrade works against this. Specifically her because her monuments can counter the initial lightning bolt Zeus has for your first or second myth unit. But with the other civs I haven't yet figured out a good counter.
I like your videos, but if you are making a guide (which this is) you should make sure to explain EVERYTHING you do. You were getting a hero and building houses casually, without even talking about it. Mind you, there are a lot of new players watching this and therefore everything should be explained.

This shit is so broken lmao. I always sucked hard at PVP but with this guide I literally won my match in 10 minutes. Good stuff!
Yeah prob gonna get nerfed soon, but prob still viable but only in specific matchups, glad youre getting some wins!

Zeus's military does 1.5 dmg to buildings

@KeeNGaming that makes perfect sense! Tyvm for explaining!
How do they match up against kiting centaur?
whats the best way to follow this up iinto heroic and mythic?
with this strat i would say its better to just stay in classic and keep adding more minos and hoplites and then adding 2 archery ranges and make tox to back ur frontline up
do you think this will get nerfed?
Mino a small nerf prob yea

Obviously this all depends, it's a game of variables but in general this is an effective counter strategy
Yeah opening with like 5 priests and 2 anubites works very well
What would be the counter to this rush?
@@StridBR raiding him at home with horses and a lot of heroes and kiting

Is this strategy good against Hades ????
Not sure, you could try, but vs hades probably better to take a couple of tcs / preasure with centaurs maybe
Did the nerf happen?
Yeah they're more expensive now. Its still good though, just more balanced now!
its not works vs Loki(((
lmao you are genius you stop the game for easier to remember & look :D thx
I hate this stuff lol. I don't know how Ra can defend against this.
5 priests 1 barracks with axeman then take tc or go heroic afterwards with rain!
tc down 9 mins...man
