I have a few cabin mate exeriences on ships, the best one was like your experience of sharing with someone not from your department. I am a musician, worked nighttime hours, he was the shopping guy and worked daytime, so we hardly ever saw each other. It was like having your own cabin for both of us. One guy I shared with, a drummer, used to shower 3 times a day every day (yes), morning, before work and after work. I wouldnt care but he never did anything to get dirty, whereas I would sometimes get in from a bike ride, muddy, sweaty, and he'd be hogging the shower making me late for work, which was a big no-no. Another guy complained at me for leaving water in the bathroom after a shower - well it's a shower mate! The AC dries the bathroom up in about an hour. This was the guy that made me exit the cabin late nights so he could talk to his girlfriend on the cabin phone long distance (argue would be a better word). Fair enough, I dont mind giving him some private space while I prop up the crew bar, but when I return, he's still on the phone, making me stay up later and drink more than I should, because what else do you do at that time of night on a ship? Of course, whenever I'm on the phone, he doesnt bother to leave, that would be too polite and courteous. The same guy accuses me of losing his doorkey - gave me the third degree abut it for hours, making me hunt high and low for it - then it eventually turns up in his man bag. and what about the born again Christian who had his girlfriend on board, but they were saving themselves up for when they got married. I used to stagger back from the crew bar some nights (due to the ship rocking obviously) and they'd be reading the Bible together. Me being an athiest with a few drinks on me was just what they were waiting for! They got their own cabin sorted out, but no 'frolicking', I assume. Talking of frolicking, one cabin I had was next door to a hairdresser who was seeing a young officer.....they were definitely not born again Christians by the sound of it ;-) . Happy days, but long behind me now, I just watch videos like yours to reminisce! :-) .
I got emotional at the very end of the video with your final comments on how people changed you (in the good way). Amazing stories, keep it up, Lucy in the sea (not Lucy in the Sky, haha).- Greetings from Argentina.
If you are going on a ship for the first time, it's better to have a roommate than your own cabin. You've got someone to "show you the ropes". It's tough for a new hire to assimilate without some basic help. Plus, most ship people are great. You will meet so many people that are a joy to be around.
I was a bit enchanted buy the idea of working on a cruse because i like to travel, but now I realize "thanks to your fantastic videos". i could never do it lol. i am why to much of an introvert. I don't even like sharing a hotel room with my immediate family let alone with a stranger in a room the size of a closet, I would go insane. It also sounds like they work you ragged. I am all for hard work but 40 hours a week is more then enough. it is understandable they would ask so much of you considering they have limited space onboard and they cant higher a full staff to allow for more flexibility but I personally need at least 2 full days back to back to be able to find time to relax, do my household choirs and enjoy my hobbies especially considering how stressful the jobs seem to be. You really need to be a special kind of person to work on a cruse.
I would love to hear more detail about the lessons Maia and Isabelle taught you-like any specific tricksor perspectives that you feel kind of made a switch go off and improve your life for the better in being more positive and confident... Really useful if you have a certain perspective when working in service jobs that maybe some people do naturally that open up a whole new level of being able to enjoy the role and life in general
My first cabin mate was a motherly figure, but in my second contract I had a cabin mate younger than me that made me tip toe around her, she simple din't want hear any type of noise, I couldn't have a longer shower to wash my hair becouse she complained about the rustle of water dropping. In another contract I had a cabin mate from other department that had a lack of communication, she never gave me a heads-up of bring her boyfriend, and she always got fed up whenever I opend the cabing door without knowing that she was there with his boyfriend.
Do you have to have lifeguard experience to apply for the lifeguard program on cruise ships? Also what is the difference between pool monitors and pool staff?
I am a Firefighter/Paramedic I am at retirement level now. I was considering princess cruises paramedic position. Any inside scoop on that? Is there anyone that I can talk too?
One option would be to email Carnival UK, as they own Princess Cruises. However, I don't know whether they will respond to your query, or avoid feedback stating too many applications.
No, you just let them know that's what you want to do. Normally nail techs have level 2 beauty therapy. If you have level 2 & 3 you are asked to so massage or facials etc. Thanks for watching babe. Also, definitely speak up if you have an issue with a roomate, no matter how uncomfortable! Xxx
Hi currently watching and enjoying all your videos! Just wondering do you get the same days off each week or does the one day and 1/2 change each week so you get more time to see each port? TIA
Hi babe. Thank you. The days you have off change all the time so you won't have like, every Tuesday off for example. It will be different days every week. xx
what type of crew/staff get their own cabins? does it depend on the company? did you ever get into an argument with a room mate due to cultural differences? what kid of arguments? how did you solve it?
Officers get there own cabin. So the highest ranking positions onboard. I have had issues with cabin mates before but have always been able to resolve them. I have videos about my experience with roomates you might find helpful.

wow, besides being a shop worker, you could be a great motivational speaker and life coach! :p
Amazing how ALL these experiences onboard ship translate into everyday life ANYWHERE!
