    I watched this video 6 years ago when y’all posted it and wanted the poly beads so bad but my parents wouldn’t buy them. Here I am 23 just got my own beads and I’m back to follow your video. Thanks guys!

    I have just made my own fake teeth following your tutorial and I love the result!
    I discovered A TIP TO GET SHINY TEETH WITHOUT POLISH. If you put one drop of warm water on every teeth (tooth by tooth) at least twice and you let the drop fall from the gum to the tip of the tooth, it will smooth the surface and edges of the tooth, erasing all the fingerprints and achieving a shiny surface and well shapped edges.
    I REALLY LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! KEEP BEING THAT NICE AND FUNNY AND CREATIVE AND LOVELY!!
    Hugs from Spain!

    I've seen this question appearing a lot in the comments, so I'll answer it for everyone.
    Do NOT make these if you have braces. Big no-no!

    • @vanessafinnerty4890
      @vanessafinnerty4890 8 лет назад +18

      JampkinJames Actually, if you have braces, you can cover them in braces wax, use small individual pieces to make separate teeth, and stick those on using braces wax. Just DONT DO THE FULL GUM PIECE. That will definitely rip your braces off.

      +kris rider there is an age restriction for super glue they have to say that so that you can't sue them. basically if you go ahead and use it under the age limit its your own fault if you mess up

    • @ellimacssfx
      @ellimacssfx  9 лет назад +1

      +kris rider Meant that you have to be very careful when working with that glue. It's nothing kids should do :) I know we have followers down to the age of 10 so we don't want them to play with superglue. Even if it's bad parenting in that case it was just a heads up =)

    • @ellimacssfx
      @ellimacssfx  9 лет назад

      +Thomaslawlet Correct :) No one could sue us for it anyway, not with success :) It would all come down to bad parenting if the kid glued their hands together.

    When i made my fangs back in 90's, the tip for tooth realism was to leave the tooth plastic in a cup of tea over night, to shade em to a "tooth color." So glad this method is still around! Nothing like the pride of DIY fangs!!! Happy Halloween(every day!) everyone!!!

  • @blackhagalaz

    As a former dental technician I would really suggest to use plaster-models to form the plastic. So you prevent that it sticks to your teeth too well. Not every person has such straight teet with lack of interdental space. If you have big gab´s between your frontal teeth it may could happen that you cant remove the plastic later.
    Tip: If you never worked with alginate before go to your dentist and ask him/her kindly for alginate impressions. Take one from the mandible and maxilla /lower and upper jaw (make sure to order or use strong plaster, so your "teeth" wont break to easily from your model). During the working process you can hold them togeter to see if the artificial teeth get in the way and your "bite" is still correct. You should prepare your plaster models with some wax, fimo or putty before, to fill massive interdental gaps or retentions formed by crooked teeth. THEN you use the plastic on your Model. If you filled to many retention-area´s , so the fit of the base is not good, you can easily scrap some of the wax of, reheat the base and reform. So you make sure to not harm your teeth, and you can actually see what you are doing.

    Would have been nice to see how you actually got the pink colour for the gums. The red food dye is a water based dye and will not get infused with the plastic, believe me, I just tried. Since the plastic is waterproof it just gets all over your hands and not into the plastic. My work around for this was making a powder out of pink chalk and mixing it into the plastic.

    Great guide. I'm already having ideas of embedding small LED-lights into the polymorph plastic and hide a silicone container in my mouth somewhere that I can use to insulate some small battery cells and electronics that can power the lights. X-)
    A question though: let's say you wanted to paint your custom teeth with a little more detail (as in using a brush), what sort of paints would you recommend that would stick to the polymorph plastic teeth and that doesn't dissolve when it comes into contact with saliva or other liquids your mouth might encounter?
    My first guess would be acrylic paints since they're usually waterproof once dry, but I've never worked with that plastic before so it's hard to know if it will stick?

    • @therosious8338
      @therosious8338 8 лет назад +3

      This is a bit random but if you're familiar with Games Workshop they have acryllic paint designed for their plastic/resin/( some rare in metal) miniatures. Their paint is 100% non toxic so that means you can eat it if you want to xD the miniatures are made out of plastic or resin so there should not be a problem to get the paint to stick. only downside is their paint is expensive so I'd recomend trying to get hold of some acryllic paint that is non toxic and use that.

    • @sevenproxies4255
      @sevenproxies4255 8 лет назад +1

      Therosious: Yes, i'm familiar with them (been a WHFB and 40K player for quite a few years).
      The reason I asked was mainly because i'm unfamiliar with the plastic itself and how it would interact with acrylics.
      A plastic with such a low melting point that you can make it malleable in boiling water is pretty new to me. Different kinds of plastics behave very differently. Acrylic glass/plexi glass for instance cracks and breaks when bent, but polycarbonate bends and flexes. ABS will shrink and deform when it has been heated up and set to cool and harden. etc.
      I've got a couple of failed experiments under my belt that makes me want to find out as much as possible about a new material before I use it for a project. :D

    Hey guys, I really love your tutorials and wnat to try some of them soon :)
    My problem is that I don't know which glue to use for the teeth...
    I'm from Germany and didn't find anything useful, so could you tell me what's the exact name of the super glue? Maybe I can find it somewhere on ebay or else :)

    Hei! Jeg er en SFX fan fra Norge som nettopp har startet på RUclips, og jeg elsker videoene deres! Jeg har lurt litt på hvilket kamera og hvilken type lys dere bruker, synes alt det fungerer veldig bra i videoene deres, og jeg er på jakt etter et nytt kamera selv. Håper dere kan hjelpe! Hilsen Maggie
