a little ghetto, but you could put some electrical tape on the clips to make it a tighter fit in the hole. might help with your staggered issue.

@@Vicwavy Another thing you can try is plastic welding some more plastic onto the clip, then sand down to get the shape that you need to fit the hole *pause*
