We did the trip to the Qld outback in 2019 (via the Overland Way from Townsville to Mt Isa, and Matilday Way to go home to the Gold Coast), and it's a trip that every Australian should do imho. It was like a spiritual trip for me as I came to understand then where the Australian value of not leaving anyone behind grew from. It was how the RFDS and Qantas were built, and it is very much ingrained in today's Australian culture, as you have observed. Going on the Dinosaur trail in outback Qld was a wonderful bonus. I moved to Australia over 35 years ago, and I love this country so much. I am incredibly grateful and blessed to be an Australian.

Thanks guys. I've always loved the positive attitude of Australians since i was 16 years old. I would love to visit Australia one day, but with my fair skin i think the weather would kill me :)) I really enjoy your content and your passion for Australia and your new life in OZ ❤
Skin cancer is my reality now from living in Queensland all my life. I’m happy the Government started advertising to use sunscreen, wear a hat & cover up in the 80’s. The heat & humidity is ok with aircon & solar power to cover the cost. I love our winter though.
@@cherie519 I was worried about my skin screening recently, having been a teen up in FNQ back when we would sunbake, all day long, coated in baby oil. 🤷♀️🤦♀️ Not a thing wrong!!! 😱. Having said that, smart is best when it comes to protection. Slip, slop, slap!!! I'm sitting here, in Melbourne atm, freezing my butt off, reallllly wishing I was up there!!
@sunisbest123 I’ve just dealt with a full thickness graft for a basal cell, another frozen off, so this is my future now & yes after baking in the sun with baby oil slathered over pale skin. I love Melbourne, but not from April to October 🥶

Have just come across your channel as I am isolated at the moment. Love your outlook on your adopted country. Not all Aussies are chilled and helpfull or know everything, I certainly don't. I have mates who have come from all over the UK and I love the way they have integrated whilst maintaining their unique cultures of Scots,Welsh,Irish and Northern England which we all participate in as we are rugby tragics, Anyhoo I shall carry on and watch some more episodes 😁😁

Its so good that youve settled here in the beautiful sunshine state. Your whole attitude towards the place is so good. We all need to appreciate how good this place is and protect the lifestyle and the place in general including the wonderful diversity of natural beauty
My experience is: my father, a real Aussie bloke, a tradesperson, with his own business, was a very gregarious and happy man, played hard when off work (not often, worked 7 days a week when I was growing up) and a bit of a joker, he loved to see people laugh, even at his own expense, but he was also a fair but hard boss and dad. He was not slow to tell anyone that they had stuffed up or pissed him off and tell them how he felt. He was straight up, you knew where you stood with him, and my brother and I are the same. My brother, as is my son, are two of the most social people I have ever met and others say the same thing. Dad rarely ever gave us a smack, he did not have to, mum was home with us and she wielded the strap, also not very often, but when we were "real naughty" she would threaten us with telling Dad when he got home and that was very scary because a roasting from my Dad was never good, he made you feel like a really bad kid. They taught us to respect ourselves, have high morals, show respect to everyone, have perfect manners (often commented on) be friendly, kind, definitely not racist and generally be a good person. He loved my mother, he put her up on a pedestal and never raised a hand to her and they very rarely fought. I am so grateful for my Aussie upbringing and would not change much if anything
Love how passionate these two (relatively) new Australians are. I LOVE IT. You guys are so welcome, we love having you here and hopefully you can encourage more of your "peeps" to make the trip. I tried to get my English relatives to consider the move but I think they can't handle the idea of having to support the Aussie Cricket team or the Wallabies.

I miss how the streets in Australia are clean! . Aussies would fight over someone dumping rubbish in the street. I live in outskirts London where the place is just thrashed by all the the East European living here - it’s sad to go the Park around here and see tons of beer cans and food packages dumped all around!

Me, my wife and two kids moved to The Sunny Coast a few years ago but we had to return after a few months due to family health issues. We're moving back mid next year and it would be great to meet up or have a chat when we do. It's great to see the life you've made for yourselves. Quick question: Did you know anyone before you moved to the SC from the UK?
We are a pretty diverse country, all up. Big cities such as Melbourne and Sydney particularly. I love that! We've embrassed several different cultures/nationalities into our family. As far as Pollies go, im pretty sick of the lot of 'em. Supposed to be working for the country and its ppl, yet spend more time fighting amonst themselves, or sledging each other and other parties. Thats not just Australia though, seems to be almost everywhere nowdays.
😅who'd want to be a politician ? when it's guaranteed that your absolutely hated by half the population , and in Australia's case by just about all the population, besides dressing up everyday pretending to care and trying not to offend anyone seems like a thankless job . And your correct , we don't like whingers , I'm reluctant to admit my mum was a whinging pommie I used to say that if someone gave her a million dollars she'd complain she didn't have a bag to carry it in . Mum never could embrace the Aussie culture and unfortunately passed before she could be converted but there's not a day that goes by that I don't thank her memory for bringing me to this wondrous place 72yrs ago .
Did she miss family? It really would have been so hard 70 years ago as an expat. I think we are very lucky now that we can get so much info online prior to moving, so we know what to expect and also we don’t miss out on family and friends xx
@The BAM Famalam yes she missed family and freinds, but she couldn't cope with the heat and the insects and of course nothing over here was as good as"Home"but my dad and I wouldn't have gone back if you had paid us ,for my dad it was his garden, , his chooks and , the absence of rationing and a full time job with better pay ,plus enough free time to go fishing whenever he wanted ,as for me I got to practically live at the beach instead of playing on bombsites. .it was and still is paradise , I've been following as well as yourselves a young couple from America who are travelling around Australia by car and the one thing that stands out is that when they have visited a whole lot of spectacular beaches.on their journey theirs are the only footprints on most of them, that's what I love about Australia you can be remote without being lonely and if you need company or a freindly face it's only a G,day away
i don't think you realize how much some pommies whinge, i worked with an old pom on opposite shifts he'd whinge if i did the same amount as him and he'd whinge if i did more so he had less to do. had a pom in the 4wd club, and there'd be too many trees, the water would be the wrong temperature, it would be to sunny, not sunny enough, it'd be too dry or too wet. wouldn't matter where he was he could be in a rainforest with a pristine waterfall or sitting on a perfect beach eating prawns and drinking beer and he'd be whinging about something normal that just couldn't be changed. i reckon their favourite past time is whinging.
