As soon as I hear the first notes of that keyboard, I am immediately transported to my first year of high school. This song still stands strong! Excellent!
I live near where the US Festival was held..in 1983 ..snuck in and the first song i heard was "Dont Change"!...INXS immediately became my favorite band!! Im 57 now...but every time i hear this song, i am that same 18 yr old wide eyed kid again!😊
Always love reactions to INXS, my favorite band of all time. One of my most treasured possessions is my VHS tape of their hits from 80-90. You get to see all their different clothing and hair styles.
This song is always the closing song of the night! The main exception was ofc the Wembley concert. It was scheduled to be but they had run way over and so Listen Like Theives and Don't Change were cut, making Devil Inside the closer. This song was the birth of the classic INXS sound.
Aww Baby INXS. How can you not love them. They so cute! But yeah, this song is a banger. Known as the encore song at the live shows for many years. I'm really glad you went to the early days. Hover here for a while. There is so much more from those days you need to check out. Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down The Mountain), The One Thing, Spy of Love...I can list so many, but you will love whatever you end up on.
Yes! You finally got to my favorite INXS song. As much as I love their later stuff and the Wembley concert, Shabooh Shoobah is still one of my favorite albums. The video for The One Thing from that album is very interesting and "Hello, Michael" was definitely our reaction when we saw these two videos on MTV.
YESSSSS I forgot how much I love this song! Early INXS is the best! I did love their later stuff as well but they really rocked back in the beginning. I’m not sure if this is from their first album or not, someone else will probably be able to tell you, but it is definitely one of the early hits. I might be wrong, but I think their first video was “The One Thing” (or at least that’s what I remember seeing first from them on MTV) so definitely check that one out if you can. It’s still one of my faves from them.
A great song... very early. I know you have a thing for Michael. I think Jon (the drummer) is so adorable. Don't Change is a really great song. Also, their first single in the U.S., The One Thing, is also a really fun song and video. And to echo the previous comment, I believe I've said it before... watch Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down the Mountain). It's my favorite!
They did an even better version of this - slowed down and romantic - in live concerts. There is a great video of them performing this song in San Francisco in 1987 or 88. Beautiful. And you will love Michael in biker shorts...
Drums in the 1980's were recorded differently than ever before. Ironically it started by accident, but what they did was hang a separate mic over the drum set and phased it into the other mics that were on the drums and this created a type of reverb. This is the unique drum sound of the 1980's, and it was FREAKING AWESOME!!!! This is my favorite song of theirs. Actually, it is the only song I like by them.
Oh! One of my all time faves! I was so young when this came out I thought Michael was old lol! Saw them at the US Festival when I was 12 (don't tell my mom 😆). They sang this - such an inspiring song ❤
has any other band ever continually pushed the envelope so much? from 'Just Keep Walking' all the way through to 'Elegantly Wasted', these legends were never content to stand still. To hell with AC/DC, INXS are heads and shoulders the greatest band to come out of Australia, and it's not even close.
First song I ever heard from INXS and I was completely hooked. Definitely watch the One Thing and Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down the Mountain). Your sidebar comments at the end crack me up… maybe he has a ride. 😆
THE WAY I hollered at "well hello there, Michael" and had to back it up! You pretty much looked at him thru most of the video the way I pretty much always do I'm sure lol. Speaking of older INXS and my forever MH crush: You MUST do The One Thing. Love the song, but young Michael in that video is just A LOT. I still remember seeing and hearing INXS for the very first time when I was in 6th grade, and that was pretty much the moment that my physical attraction towards the opposite sex came fully online 🤣 (my same sex physical attraction had already showed up a couple of years before but that's another story lol). Also - LOVE THAT YOU LOVED THIS SONG SO MUCH! It's probably my favorite of theirs, and a tad underrated imho.
Classic video, they just went for it…always done at the end of their concerts. Left off the Wembley gig in 1991 though where they ended with Devil Inside
Incredible song, such nostalgia. Excellent instrumentation, Michael's vocal brilliance and lyrical authenticity. Thank you for your reaction and review, completely enraptured by your "The Cure", "INXS", "Depeche Mode", "Duran Duran", and occasional "U2" reactions. I would like to recommend U2's song *Discotheque* from their mid-90's album "Pop". It is a blast, and an utterly funky video. Please? 🙂 Keep up the amazing work Bryson, you are the best.
@@PancakeMarshmallowDude A belated thank you so much - and I hope you will truly react to U2 soon. Wonderful channel, amazing reactor - so it all makes sense!
I was gonna say it was before new sensation but you got there first 😁 I think Michael looks more Australian with the shorter hair not that I know what that means lol he's still lush with the short hair but not at full Sampson strength yet 😁 "Nice shot" (between Michael's legs) you're so cheeky 😅
Yes, I have the same reaction every time I see that face. And the hair. Just everything. Please please please react to The One Thing. That is the song and video that started my love of them and made me feel some kinda way about Michael Hutchence. His charisma and slinkiness on full display!
It was released as a single from the album Shabooh Shoobah in October 1982. Like so many other bands, Tears For Fears, U2, Huey Lewis and The News, etc. etc. their first albums are faster more cutting edge with songs that shine almost forty (40) years later‼️ = IMO 🤷🏼♂️
I love your reaction’s! The reason I want the outro playing as I pass is because it reminds me of a different time , a better time! Don’t mind me I’m drunk as hell! Best regards from an American now living in Macedonia 🇲🇰!
I don't know if you've done the song the "One Thing" from them yet if not please react to it I think you'll love it.. And as always great reaction! PMDude!
Bro’ - just quickly, congratulations on getting the pronunciation of the name of the band correct first time. So many RUclipsrs don’t seem to be capable of this. When they don’t, I always think to myself “C’mon - how hard is it to do a little bit of basic research?” 🤔
1) Your channel rules. I found it yesterday, and I just keep going. My data plan is gonna snap, but it hasn't yet. 2) SUCH a banger of a song. Probably my favorite off their 3rd. 3) But ya gotta spend some time with their 4th when you get a chance. 4) Nothing but love.
Personally, I think this a better love song than Never Tear Us Apart. It's in my top five of favorite INXS songs. This song comes from Shabooh Shoobah, which was released in 1982 so, this video was probably done in 1983. And, I love Michael but, he looks like he could use a sandwich. He's too skinny for me 🤣
Great Reaction, B They left sexy drummer Jon behind just for you! Early INXS always a fave. Please react to sexy MH in my fave ' The One Thing ' video. You will thank me ;) from the OtherB
One of my high school jams. It was all about INXS, Duran Duran, U2, The Cure (and secretly Wham! because my friends wouldn’t have understood that one.) I prefer their earlier work. By the time they became really popular I pretty much stopped liking their songs. They changed imo. See what I did there?
. IMHO........every single INXS song after the early years really, really sucked, I mean just plain awful.......like "Devil Inside". My God, how miserable a song -- yet so, so popular. I remember it well. They were wildly popular around '86-'87 with their poorly written, overly commercial, boring songs. This song is pretty commercial but the melody and instrumentals are so strong it's carried it over the line, so to speak, when judging quality. Just my opinion. It's my favorite song of theirs. That very "hello Michael" was typical of reactions from most people back in the day. Unfortunately the silly boy killed himself in a very pathetic way. Sad, tragic story but we'll have the music forever.
"Well hello there Michael" 😂😂Early INXS has all the feels ❤️❤️
😂
As soon as I hear the first notes of that keyboard, I am immediately transported to my first year of high school. This song still stands strong! Excellent!
Me too! 9th grade. hehe!
1982 Michael was like 22, we all got to discover his charisma with one❤️
I love Don't Change so much. I love INXS so much.
1982- they are all in their early 20s. What a talented group, many hits
This song was released in 1982. Almost 40 years, can you believe it ? It Stills rock !
Really You should react to their song "the gift", it's a gem !
That's incredible. The production as held up so well!!!
Every time you heard this song live, it was the end of the gig! They always closed out with don't change.
I live near where the US Festival was held..in 1983 ..snuck in and the first song i heard was "Dont Change"!...INXS immediately became my favorite band!! Im 57 now...but every time i hear this song, i am that same 18 yr old wide eyed kid again!😊
Very beautiful and rockin' at the same time! 🎧 💓 🎶
Saw Inxs in concert a few times and they are fantastic!
Lucky!!!

It was the last song they played at the Kick concert I saw. Hearing this song in concert made me a fan. It's in my top five of favorite INXS songs.

Your instincts were right, this song does have a beautiful message 🙂
I believe you will love Kiss the Dirt. Just about every 80's song is an Australian anthem.
Yep Kiss The Dirt and Shine Like it Does he will love both. My favorites from Listen Like Theives!
To Look At You and The One Thing are also fine tracks off this album. Shabooh Shoobah. PMD your INXS journey has me bingeing on their catalog.

My fav INXS song and an all-time favourite period. The energy throughout and the minor chord harmonies in the ending bit... just amazing.
Baby Hutch with the short hair.
Probably my favorite INXS song. Loved your reaction and critique. Looking forward to more...Cheers!

You don't change either. Luv ya
❤❤❤
Youth. Just unbridled youth. This makes me want to ride around town at night in a convertible and be 17 all over again.
❤❤❤
My personal INXS favorite is “Disappear” - IMHO it’s better than “Never Tear Us Apart”- and that’s a beautiful song
I have this album from the 80’s. Look so young!

Michael even then a commanding lead while still wet behind the ears.

Best Michael Hutchence reactions on RUclips. "Well hello there Michael"....you're the best!

1982-83 I think. Shabooh Shoobah - great album. My fave is the Swing - out these tracks: Burn For You or Original Sin.
I want the outro playing as I pass into the next life!
